Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Oh, what a week this has been for the Mansfield Thiot’s. The crazy t-shirts have taken off and taken over Ricky’s life this week. Becky said it’s like being married to Dick to have somebody always talking business on the phone. Hopefully, things will quiet down a bit. The shirts have been on TV and talked about on the radio and have been in the Dallas Morning News. It’s crazy. Ricky was invited by his friend Bryan to go to the Texas Ranger World Series game on Saturday night. He didn’t even have to think about it, he said YES and had a wonderful time since the Rangers WON!!! Only 3 more wins and they will be the Champs. We will take it one game at a time. The little girls had fun at Trunk or Treat and Uncle Matthew came along too making it extra fun. I can’t wait to see pictures of our little Ladybug and Black Cat.

Tatia carried on the tradition this week of making her famous Gingersnap cookies, (thanks Sister Ence) on the first snow fall of the year. We simply couldn’t wait for it to get cold in Texas and counted the first snow in Utah. YUMMY! Tatia and Jake started a fun tradition their first Halloween of either throwing a Halloween Party or attending one. They have been known to win the best costume award each year as well. That puts the pressure on when it comes to coming up with a costume. This year they decided on a biblical theme. Tatia went as David, dressed as a biblical Texas Ranger and Jake as a San Francisco Giant who is being Slewed with a sling shot and a base ball. It was a hit and I’m only sorry they didn’t get a photo. Tatia sure enjoyed having Krista in town this week. We saw lots of the Granges with the Hurst’s here. I LOVED it! Tatia and made the yummiest dinner on Thursday night for all of us. DELICIOUS Miss T!

I just tried to call Charlie to find out about their week and got a text message, Mom we are in church. Oops. It’s hard having kids living in different time zones and keeping track of everybody’s church schedules. Sorry Charlie. He did text me a photo of a darling dancing Ladybug. Oh my goodness, I’m hopping Dick knows how to get pictures off my phone so I can share it with you too.

Well, it must be turning cold in Utah, as Pierce has put the top back on the Jeep. He has enjoyed the spring and summer going topless in the Green Jeep but it has finally gotten chilly enough to get it back on. He was really tickled when Stacy’s auntie made Super Man capes for all her grandsons and Princess capes for all the Granddaughters and included him by making him a superman cape. He LOVED it and so appreciated her kind ways. Stacy had two photo shoots on Saturday afternoon and was most grateful that the weather cooperated and the rain held off until they were finished! It did in fact Snow in Provo but Pierce said it was mostly on the grass and so he hasn’t “had” to plow the driveways and side walks yet. He LOVES doing that for Aunt Chris and the neighbors. They had a fun Halloween with the cousins and some glow in the dark paint, It’s amazing what you can do with that fun stuff. Pictures coming. P&S enjoyed the Ranger game with a WIN on Saturday night too!

I caught up with Sky and had a quick interview with him. He has completed all his midterms and he is now smack dab in the middle of two big projects. The one for his advertising class involves Red Vine Licorice. He contacted the VP of Marketing and told them they are doing a mock campaign and they sent him out Two Giant Tubs of Red Vines. He was thrilled. He went as Dr. Who to a Halloween Party on Friday night and then as Peter Pan to a party on Saturday night and then to a haunted house and scary movie. He wasn’t sure who he would dress up like to go to church today. I was wishing he had a sweet candy corn tie like Sammy Williams had on at church today.

This has been one of the funnest weeks of my life. My darling neice Krista, her hubby Matt and her baby girl Aida have been staying with us. Matt was taking a class to up his certification at work and it happened to be in Dallas. How lucky for us that Krista could come too. I LOVED having them here and it is so lonesome with them gone. Krista worked a miracle while here. I have been wishing for a sewing room. I have four bedrooms upstairs and no kids but the problem is, my kids left their stuff when they exited. Krista and Tatia helped me relocate the Stuff from Tatia’s room and we turned it into Robynn’s Sewing Nest. I’m DELIGHTED! Thanks you girls for all your help. Today was the Primary Sacrament Meeting Program. We have quite a tiny primary. When everyone comes, we have 38 children. I was so proud of them today. They did a super job and Bishop Dick did a great job taking up the few extra minutes we went under time. Thanks Dick!
Dick was invited to speak this week at the Circle Ten Council Centennial Scouting event for a mere 12000 boy scouts. It was held at the Redbird Airpark and was amazing. He did a great job and is glad that is behind him. If you need a job done, I always say, ask a busy person and it will get done. He is the man for the job if you need busy.
One of our top moments of the week would have to be Friday night when Greypa (as Brooklyn as tagged Dick) and Grammy (guess who) tended the little girls while Ricky, Becky, Tatia, Jake, Krista and Matt went out on a date. We loved having the girls all to ourselves. I hope you all have a BOO-tiful Halloween! SLY Robynn

Our kids surprised Dick by purchasing him a ticket to the Ranger's Baseball Game tonight. Nobody loves the Texas Rangers like Dick. He loves them during bad years but especially during good years. I know the game is not over yet, but it's looking good. I think Dick may be the good luck charm the Rangers needed. Go Rangers!

Go Texas Rangers!

This has been another busy week in Mansfield. Ricky got tickets to the BYU vs. TCU Football game on Saturday afternoon and Dick was thrilled to get invited to come with. Unfortunately, TCU is REALLY good this year. They are ranked 5th in the nation and made BYU look like they sent the Jr. High Team instead of the college team. The good news for the afternoon was that the Rangers won over the NY Yankees and so even though BYU lost, Dick and Ricky were in good spirits. Our sweet Brooklyn was invited to cousin Oliver’s birthday party but unfortunately she has caught a nasty cold and cough and wasn’t able to go. I know she would have loved that gymnastics place. I’m hoping that one day soon the two of us can go for a fun afternoon and see if she likes trampoline jumping like Oliver does.

Jake and Tatia had a good week. Jake was asked to entertain one of the BYU Students coming to interview at UT Southwestern Medical School. He came on Thursday and spent a couple of nights with them. They both enjoyed getting acquainted. He was a great house guest and brought a beautiful nativity for a thank you gift. I’m going to invite him to stay with me if he ever comes to Dallas again. Tatia and Jake had a fun time Saturday morning after dropping him off for his interviews. The arboredum had a free day and they loved going to see all the birds and animals there. They had a great time and took some amazing photos. While they were waiting for it to open, this huge HAWK flew in for some lunch. WOWSERS! What an experience.

Charlie and Mackenzie had a miracle this week. Maybe even two of them. Both of their digital cameras have been missing for a quite a while. Mackenzie even thought maybe she had lost hers on her trip to Disneyland a few months ago it had been that long. Well, this week, when looking for something else, they looked under the couch and there was not only Mackenzie’s camera, but Charlie’s camera too. Do you think our little Keelie is tired of poseing for pictures and discovered a way to not have to any more? She is one smart little lady. I hope they can find a place a little higher up to store them because I LOVE seeing pictures of my California granddaughter.

I got a phone call from Pierce this week and he was on his way to cub scouts. This month they are learning about Fire Safety and were on their way to the fire station. Pierce and Stacy love working with those cute cub scouts. It makes me so happy that they are lucky enough to have that calling. In our ward, they always pick the funnest people they can think of to work with the Cub Scouts. I think there ward has a very smart Bishop too. Ricky, Pierce and Sky had a fun idea this week to help celebrate the Rangers going to the play offs. Pierce designed it, Ricky is having them made and Sky is marketing them on twitter or what ever it’s called. You can see a picture of the design on the blog. You may want to contact one of the guys to place your order.

I talked to Skyler this evening and he sounded great. He had just gotten home from Ward Conference where President Monson spoke. Well he had me going until he told me it wasn’t “the” President Monson, but was his son President Clark Monson who is his Stake President. Skyler said he doesn’t look like his dad, but he is sure a great speaker like his dad. Skyler got his two midterms back and was very pleased with his scores. Me too Sky, I wish I could put them on the fridge. Sky said Sundays are busy days with his clerk calling. He has to go to church early and stay after too. He doesn’t mind and is enjoying being of service.

Dick and I for Family Night, went to see the new movie Secretariat. We both gave it two thumbs up. Dick’s feet have hardly touched the ground since the Ranger game on Tuesday night. I’ve never seen anybody as thrilled as he is about the Rangers going to the playoffs. He’s so hoping that they are World Series bound. He is a lot more fun to live with when they win then when they loose. I’m hoping they can keep on winning! I’ve had an extra nice week. Friday evening I was asked by my Primary President if I could go to the 11 year old scout camp out and do the Camp Site inspection and the Uniform inspection. It may have been one of my favorite days. Those 11 year old scouts set up a WONDERFUL camp site. Each tent had a water bucket outside the door in case of fire, there was a cooking station, a hand washing station, everything as neat as can be. It was held at Erwin Park in McKinney which is as close to going to the mountains in Texas as you can get. It was a perfect evening, the stars were out and it was lovely. Then on Saturday I was invited to Olivers Party and loved getting to be there with Pamela and her cute family. My favorite event of the party was getting to hold little baby Miles. He is such a darling little baby and I loved holding him. Thanks Pammy for sharing him with me. Oliver was one very cute Birthday boy. I had such fun making him a Fed Ex delivery guy uniform. He’s been wishing for one and it turned out really fun. He was so pleased which made me happy too. I hope you’ve had a good one too. SLY Rob

9. Skyler’s apartment has a projector where they can put television shows and movies on the wall, HUGE. Saturday afternoon he was so thrilled to have the Ranger play off game on the wall and had a good time, like Ricky until that 8th and 9th inning when those dang Rayes couldn’t do anything but SCORE. Thanks for supporting our Rangers even in Provo Sky!
10. Sky has had a good week even though he had 2 tests to take on Friday. He’s hoping for some good results.

What a fun day today is October 10, 2010 or also known as 10-10-10. That’s pretty special; I couldn’t resist having our Top Ten Events for the week. Dick was invited this week to play golf at a LOVELY new golf course. He has been smiling all week. Saturday he had another favorite event, he was invited to teach the Varsity Training at our Stake Little Philmont. Those two events are two of Dick’s very top things in all the world. Golf and Scouts, it simply doesn’t get much better.
I was lucky enough to get to attend the Great Family Search which is our Stakes Family History Conference. What a great spirit was in attendance and so many people came, I loved being there among all those smart people. I keep hoping some of their smarts will rub off on me if I hang out with them enough. It’s so amazing to me to see how Family history work is changing and how Family Search is trying to make it easier for all of us to know our family better. Enjoy this Ten Day and know you are loved. It’s been a good week in Mansfield, our weather has been cooler and it feels like Autumn can’t be too far away. Becky’s brother Matthew and his wife Hailey got moved into their apartment this weekend. They are excited to get settled in to their new place. Unfortunately, it was not left as clean as they were promised, so they had to add an extra day and have a cleaning party. They are good sports. Brooklyn loved having their pretty cat and I’m proud to report that Rocky got along quite nicely with their kitty unlike he used to do with Miss Silkee. Actually, I think Rocky was the nice one, it was Miss Silkee who had a bad attitude about dogs. Brooklyn’s starting to get excited about Halloween and is thinking she might like to be a Black Cat for her costume. I think you would make a Puuurrrrrrrfect black Kittie Brooklyn! Addison is thinking about a lady bug, you will be darling Addison!

Lucky for Dick and I, Tatia and Jake don’t have cable TV at their house, so they got to come to our house to watch General Conference. I’ve loved getting to see them all weekender. One of my favorite parts was Friday afternoon when I got home from the temple and Tatia called. She said she was going to get her house cleaned up and put out her fall decorations. I asked if I could come and help and she said YES! I love having her so close that I can be there in just a few minutes. We got things looking quite festive on Barnett Drive. Tatia is a fun decorator and has cute ideas. I loved being there and getting to help. Jake is looking forward to Tuesday when he gets to witness his first autopsy. He must be going to be a great doctor if he can stand to do that. He had to get a new pair of scrubs to wear and they found some sweet ones at the Good Will. Good Luck Jake.

Charlie was sent home from work early this week sick, sick. Not the funnest thing to have happen on your birthday week. Charlie is NOT a complainer so when he comes home sick, he is really sick. I hope you got a chance to rest up this weekend and let your body get to feeling better. Charlie had his 28th birthday on Saturday. They went out to dinner on Thursday night to celebrate and had a good time. Keelie has not decided yet what she is going to dress up like for Halloween. She’s been thinking of some fun ideas but has not made a final decision on that quite yet. We will keep you posted.

This was a great week for Pierce and a lonesome week for Stacy. Pierce was invited to attend Add Week in New York City with his professor and a few other students in his major. Pierce has wanted to go for a while and was delighted when it worked out that he could go. He said he knew that New York City had LOTS of people and LOTS of tall buildings, but when he saw it, he was in awe. He had a really good time and got to meet with some Add agencies and is hopeful for a summer internship in New York City! He and Stacy would LOVE that. Stacy did not enjoy being home alone, but was a very good supporting wife and did it. Go Stacy!

Skyler loves General Conference as much as his mom does and he has been looking forward to this weekend too. I hope you got to peek at the Typograph he designed for a class where he built the Conference Center with words. It’s amazing and I loved it. Way to Go SKY! On Saturday his friend Emily called and said her uncle was in town for General Conference and had two extra tickets and wondered if he would like to go. The seats were on Row 30 on the lower level. Well, she did not have to ask twice, he was thrilled and loved ever minute. While he was sitting there, he looked over a section and thought he saw Elder Woo from his mission. Sure enough when he went over to talk to him after, it was him and he was happy to see Skyler too. Sky had a good time at his missionary reunion on Friday night. It’s been a good and busy week for Skyler.

Ever since Charlie was a tiny boy, we have had the tradition of putting out our Fall/Halloween Decorations on his birthday. My mom has had hers out for a few weeks and keeps asking if I have done it yet. I thought I could go early, but nope, I had to wait for Char’s day and then put them up. Dick about died when I brought home a “tree” from my morning walk and proceeded to put it under the stairs. He said he think’s I may have lost my good ideas as it’s made a bit of a mess dropping leaves. I like it. It’s so fun to put things out and remember when I got them. I have a haunted house that my mom painted for me when I was a Freshman in college. I love remembering how much my kids loved it and they always knew right where to put it. For many years, we had a Goblin blessing our family. I love to remember all the fun things the Goblin secretly delivered to our house. So very fun. On Saturday night we invited some fun guys to go to Priesthood meeting with Dick, and their wives came to my house and we had a crafting night. We painted pumpkins and had so much fun. It’s amazing what a paving stone can turn into with some paint! Hope you’ve had a good week too. SLY Robynn

Happy Birthday Charlie!!!!!!

Image October 2nd is one of my favorite days of the year. In 1982, a very sweet little baby boy joined our family on this day. This is a cool birthday, because Charlie is turning 28. Charlie's best buddy, Grandpa turned 82 just a few weeks ago. Charlie and Grandpa loved that they both had the same digits this year, and thought if they had number candles, they could have shared them. Happy Birthday Charlie! You were a wonderful little boy and a fabulous teenager and now a fantastic husband and one of the cutest daddy's I know. Have wonderful day!
Sure Love ya,
Mom
