Ricky’s girls are still away but will be returning this week. He’s been lonesome but has survived. He and some high school friends got together for some fun times last weekend. Ricky and Dick were able to attend the Byran Nelson Golf Tournament on Saturday afternoon for a f ew hours and they both enjoyed watching the High School Senior who played in the tournament play. He was amazing.
Our Dallas Granges
Jake and Tatia celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary this week. I loved it that in Three years their family grew to a family of Three. I got to be the Penny Sitter while Jake and Tatia grabbed some lunch to go and went to the Dallas Arboretum for an anniversary lunch and a warm walk through those beautiful gardens. Tatia took Penny to her Preschool to visit her classes on Wednesday. The children loved seeing both Miss Tatia and little Penny. They each colored a picture for Penny and I know Penny loved it. After the trip to the Preschool they stopped by my house for lunch and then Tatia and I tried making some tiny little shoes for Penny. We’ve got a ways to go to perfect our methods but it was fun.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Tatia and I had a fun conference call with Charlie on his way to work one morning this week. I loved it Char, thank you for calling us up. Speaking of calling up, I may have told you, I have misplaced, misfiled, ok, I LOST my cell phone over a month ago. My least favorite thing is loosing things and spending endless hours hunting for them. Dick brought home a gal from the office’s phone that she had upgraded to another for me. I am back in business with taking and making calls. Horray! I hardly ever use it, but it interesting when you don’t have one, all the sudden I wish for it. I’m going to take really good care of this one, I promise Dick, thank you Sandy!
Our San Fran Thiot’s
Pierce and Stacy have updated their blog with some amazing photos of the beach in San Francisco. The waters were not calm and peaceful but were almost churning as they described them. Not the kind you want to be in surfing for sure. Stacy put some great photos on her blog and I loved that she also posted the pictures she took of Tatia and Jake and Penny on her photography blog. She did a super job with that 12 day old little Penny. Thanks for doing that Stacy!

Skyler went up to Sandy this week and brought cute Kara with him too. They met Gram and Grandpa and Laurie and Mike and Lani and Jeff and Jen and Lauren for dinner. I’m guessing it was at the Sizzler, as that is a favorite meeting spot for my family, but I’m not sure. It may have been Burger King as that is my dad’s all time favorite spot. Anyway, they had a good time and loved getting to catch up with everybody. We are getting excited as this Thursday they are coming to town for little Penny’s blessing. Sky hasn’t been home in over 9 months which is way to long. I need to go dust nine months of dust out of his room and get it ready for his stay. I am so excited to see him and to get acquainted with Kara too. Yipee!
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
Sometimes when I sit down to write the Thiot Times, I am flooded with all the good times we’ve had during the week and sometimes, I can hardly remember what even happened this week. Late Saturday night, I sent an e-mail to my Primary chorister to just make sure that indeed she was planning on doing singing time and sharing time for the 5th Sunday of the month. Several times during the week, I had felt prompted to follow up with her and just shrugged it off thinking, of course she was planning on it. Well, what a surprise when I checked e-mail early Sunday morning and discovered a note from her telling me that in fact she was out of town for the Memorial Day weekend and thought she had told me. She probably had and I just had a senior moment and forgot. That is when I became a strong believer in a website called Sugardoodles.net. It has ideas for Primary people. A dear sister named Becky, had created a Jeopardy game to review the months lessons and all I had to do was print it out and it was ready to go. What a blessing that Becky was to me. I don’t remember having a funner Primary for a long time. We combined Jr and Sr and it was delightful WHEW! Sugardoodles saved the day for sure. We need to get busy and make some fun plans for today. Maybe some yard work or something really fun. I hope you have a lovely Memorial Day. I’ll be thinking of you. SLY Robynn

Becky, Brooklyn and Addison are in California this week and next week visiting with Nana and Papa. I’m sure they are having a wonderful time getting just a tiny bit of spoiling while they are there. It seems lonesome in Texas with them away. Have a good time ya’ll, but hurry on home soon. Ricky and Rocky are a bit lonely but are finding lots of good things to do. We invited Ricky to come to Sunday dinner but he already had some home teaching visits planned for the afternoon. What a good man you are Ricky Thiot!

Little Penny had her two week check up this week and weighed in at 9lbs and is 21 inches long. That girl is doing well and growing just right. She got her first immunizations and had her heal poked to do some blood testing. She was a champ and only cried a little bit. The doctor told Tatia she didn’t have to wake her up for her night time feedings that if she could, she could sleep on through them. Her best night was sleeping from 11 pm until 4:45 am. We count that as an all-nighter! Go Penny Go! Jake has been filling his days with lots of studying for his upcoming test the last part of June. He is so dedicated, I admire that a bunch. They are both falling into parenting very well. What cute parents they are and what a lucky little girl to be born into the Grange family.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
One of the funnest things that happened this week was when Becky and the girls flew into Sacramento on their way to Becky’s parents is Redding. They were able to meet up with Mackenzie, Keelie and Baby Callum. Becky loved meeting Callum and the girls had so much fun playing together. Keelie had been looking forward to seeing Brooklyn and Addison and they couldn’t wait to see her. I love how cousins just know they belong to each other. Thanks Becky and Mackenzie for making that happen. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to watch them play together. On Saturday, Charlie finished his Ropes Training course, or is it the Copes Training course. It was a big commitment of time and energy but he loved doing it and is looking forward to assisting at Girls Camp and beyond.

The Happiest news from San Fran is that Stacy arrived on Tuesday evening. Hip Hip Horray!!!!!! Twenty three days was a LONG time. Pierce has been working crazy busy hours as most interns get to do. He is enjoying it and is so glad to have Stacy HOME with him. I saw her Mom and sister at the temple on Friday and they said when they talked to her in the morning to wish her a happy birthday, she was hoping to do laundry that day. I’m guessing Mr. Pierce has saved some up for her to do. Since Laundry is my best, I hope it’s hers too and she had a wonderful birthday.

I hired Sky to do a little graphic design work for me this week. That guy is amazing. I used to think I was kind of good at those type of things, but he leaves my work in the dust. It’s fun to see what he can do. Thank you for your help Mr. Sky! I had a fun thing at the temple last Friday. We had two missionaries come in and one was going the the Russia Rostov Mission, and the other was heading to the New York New York South Mission. I couldn’t believe they were going to both of Elder Sky’s missions. I loved it and it made me smile all day long. I just love missionaries. As a matter of fact, I like them so much that they have moved back to the Thiot’s Missionary Nest upstairs. We have the honor and privilege of housing the elders for the next year. I can already feel their great spirit filling up our home.
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
It’s been a good week in Plain-O Texas. We’ve had some great Texas rainstorms which have helped green up the grass and make everything look so fresh and clean. Dick was treated to a round of golf as a late birthday gift from two of his co workers. He loved that as you can only imagine. He attended the BYU Management Society’s scholarship luncheon on Friday where they awarded a bunch of scholarships from the Golf Tournment he and Ricky played in last month. He enjoyed seeing all the happy seniors who won scholarships. Speaking of happy Seniors, Dick was the MC at the Plano 4th Ward Senior Evening. We have 5 young women graduating and 1 young man. They had a great time sharing memories of them all growing up and what fine people they have grown into.
I spent most of the week getting the upstairs ready for our new boarders. I even learned how to re-caulk a bathtub. Dick accused me of hiring it done as it turned out so well He knows how to make me feel good for sure. I am looking forward to doing the other tubs soon. Friday night we had were able to attend Oliver's Pre-school Program at the Spanish School house. They did a darling dance from Costa Rica and we loved being there. Thanks for inviting us Oliver!
Saturday afternoon, there was a baby shower for a cute gal in our ward expecting a little boy the first part of June. Tatia and Penny came and went with me and what fun that was. I think Penny was the hit of the shower as she looked so cute and acted just perfect, sleeping through the entire event. What a good little party girl she is. I hope you have had a good week and that you are looking forward to this new one. Sure love ya’ll, Robynn

What fun to get an e-mail from Becky, Brooklyn and Addison with 3 pictures from the visit they had with Mackenzie, Keelie and Callum. Nothing makes a Grammy happier than seeing her granchildren getting to be together. There is something almost magical about cousins. Look at Keelie's eyes and you will see what it is. I am so glad they got to see eachother. Thanks Becky and Mackenzie for making it happen. I love you all sooooooo much!

Ricky & Becky returned from their getaway EARLY Wednesday morning. We got the little girls all packed up and returned to their parents who were most lonesome for them. Dick and I really enjoyed having them here and the weather for the week was so warm we were able to put water in the blow up pools and have a good time. As of this evening, Brooklyn is a graduate of her first year of Pre-school. Her Joy School class had a little graduation ceremony this evening. I was wishing we could be there but Dick had a double Eagle Scout Court of Honor that he needed to be to. I’m hoping we will see pictures soon, hint hint
Our Dallas Granges
Our Little Penny will be two weeks old tomorrow. I can hardly remember life before Penny. She is the sweetest little tiny girl. The funnest thing happened on Wednesday afternoon. My little sister Lani flew into town to spend the week with us and meet Baby Penny. It was love at first sight for both of them. Lani got to spend the night with them on Thursday night and spend the day with them on Friday. Tatia and Lani had a quick trip to Target while Jake tended Penny while she napped. They found some fun outfits to wear in a family photo shoot that cute Stacy offered to do on Saturday morning. She took 700+ photos of those darling Dallas Granges. Jake is sifting through them and they are hoping to have one enlarged to go in their living room. Such a cute family.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Charlie sent me some cute pictures last night of Keelie painting a little bird house for Penny’s nursery. At the baby shower for Tatia, the little kids painted little tiny birdhouses to go in Penny’s room. Keelie wasn’t able to come so we mailed her a little bird house to paint. Judging from the photo’s she did an EXCELLENT job. I can’t wait to get it back in the mail and take it to Penny’s nest Keelie. Thank you sooooooooo much for your help. Penny is going to LOVE all her little cousins. Callum is working at getting used to the new formula the doctors are having him try for his milk allergies. I hope his tummy gets used to it soon.

It was so fun to see Stacy yesterday. We celebrated hers (her actual birthday is Friday) and Dick’s birthdays Saturday morning with a favorite breakfast of Kneaders French Toast. Oh my goodness, I think Lani and I make it nearly as good as Kneaders. I had cooked some bacon and sausage and put it in the oven to keep warm. Turns out the oven was turned on a little hotter (ok a LOT hotter than I thought) and we ended up with VERY crispy bacon and very WELL done link sausages. I was so proud of my family for saying how much they LOVE crispy bacon. Thank you Stacy for taking Tatia’s family pictures and for spending some time with us in your busy day. Pierce, we missed you but it was sure fun to give Stacy a tight squeeze and ask her to pass it on to you.
Our BYU Thiot
I talked to Sky on the phone for a quick minute on Saturday morning He was on his way to take a test. Can you believe Skyler is already having mid-terms for this term? Spring and Summer terms go so quickly. I hope all your studying pays off Sky and that you get the grades you are hoping for. Sky’s still on the job hunt, if anybody has any tips out there, let him know. Good Luck Skyman!
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
On Friday the 13th, Dick celebrated his 54th Birthday. Well, kind of celebrated. I had to be to work at the temple at 6:15 on Friday and so he didn’t get breakfast in bed or much spoiling. He had to take his own Birthday treats to the office instead of having them delivered. He was a good sport. I promise to make 55 much better Dick. It was fun to have Lani treat us to a yummy dinner at Chuy’s before he had to run to the temple for a baptism group. Thanks Lani! Saturday was much better. Ricky’s family, Tatia’s family, Stacy, Lani and I made him breakfast and then Stacy’s brother had two extra seats to the Ranger Game. Ricky and Dick volunteered to help him out and take the tickets. Unfortunately, the Rangers lost by one meansly run, but Ricky and Dick still had a good time and they were great seats.
Thursday afternoon kept in line with the birthday theme this week. My nephew Chip and his wife Elycia had their first baby. Little Taylor Jay Birks joined our family and we are so happy for them. New baby's are the very BEST! Penny and Taylor are just 10 days apart. Wonderful news!!!!!

Wednesday, on our way to the airport to pick up Ricky and Becky, Addison was kind of sad and starting to cry a little bit, Brooklyn turned to her and told her that when she was big, she would let Addie sit right by her and she would drive her all around. She is such a sweet big sister. I wished I would have kept a notebook with me all week with those little girls. It just tickles me to see them so cute with each other. Sisters are the best. Have a good week ya’ll. SLY Robynn

Mothers Day Thiot Times

There is a new airlines Spirit Air who have been running some amazing deals on flights. For $1.00, you could get a ticket from Dallas to Las Vegas. Please note there are taxes and fees which bring the total up to around $40.00 which is still a steal of a deal. Ricky captured two of those tickets and whisked Becky off for an extended weekend get away. I got my favorite mothers day gift of getting to tend my Brooklyn and Addison and grand pup Rocky. Yahoo! I do have a new found respect for Ricky and Becky who seem to keep an immaculately clean home and have two happy girls at the same time. Please don’t stop by for house check this week as we are having fun playing and not doing much in the clean up department. Thanks for sharing your girls Ricky and Becky.
Our Dallas Granges
Monday afternoon at 4:47, my world as I knew it changed, when Tatia delivered the sweetest little girl who they named Penny Elaine Grange after her great aunt Lani and her Great, Great Grandmother Elaine. She is just a sweet as she is beautiful. I’ve had the blessing and privilege of getting to see her every day of her one week of life. I’m soooooooooooo glad Jake choose South Western Medical School and so grateful that they only live 30 minutes away. It’s been a wonderful experience watching Tatia blossom into a Mommy just in time for Mothers Day. Happy Mothers Day Tatia! Jake is a wonderful daddy and has a new subject for his photography talents, little Penny. I’m not sure how many photos he has taken in her first week, but I’m guessing well over 100. We LOVE seeing them Jake!
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Charlie said when I talked to him last night that Keelie, Callum and he had enjoyed spoiling Mackenzie on Mothers Day. What a great mommy she is to those two darling little grandkids of ours. Mackenzie returned from the second leg of her trip on Tuesday. They had fun visiting with her Grandpa and with her friend Melinda and her new baby who was blessed on Sunday. So glad you are all home safely. Charlie and Mackenzie have posted on their blog some fun new pictures from Easter Sunday. You may want to stop by and take a peek.

As of late last night, Stacy landed in Dallas and will be here for the next 9 days. Now when I say here, I mean at her parents home. Her little sister Katy is getting ready to leave on her mission at the end of the month and will be speaking in her ward next Sunday where Stacy’s brother’s little girl will be blessed. It’s going to be a wonderful Brinkerhoff Weekend for sure. I’m so glad Stacy was able to come to be a part of it. I’m hoping we might get to see her too while she is in our neck of the woods. Pierce told me last night only 9 more days until Stacy will be in San Fran with him. He’s looking forward to that. He had a good first week of work and only logged 60 hours, YIKES! That’s a lot. He said when he has to stay later than 8:00, that the company buys dinner and sends him home in a taxi instead of on the bus. I hope your second week goes well too Pierce!
Our BYU Thiot
This has not been one of Sky’s best weeks of his life. His cute friend Kara broke up with him last Sunday and has left him one sad man. These are times that Mom’s wish they could be closer to help cheer him up. I only hope my stopping over to meet her on Easter didn’t frighten her away. Every time Skyler dates someone, I know he is getting closer to finding that gal who will be just right for him. He’s met some fun gals. Don’t give up Sky, she’s out there right now praying to find you. We love you Skyman!
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
This week has been filled with happy things and difficult things. When you are a mom, you rejoice when your kids find happiness and you are sad when they are sad too. I’m sure that is the way Heavenly Father made our Mother Hearts inside of us work. I know it is during difficult times that we grow and grow closer to our Heavenly Father as I know He wants to comfort and strengthen us too.
Dick has had an interesting week. We have had a dear brother in our ward, Robert Lyman. Since Dick has been Bishop, he has been in failing health. Dick has had several occasions to meet with him and has loved getting to know this dear man. A month ago, Dick felt impressed that it was time for him to receive the Melchezedic Priesthood and to be ordained to the office of an elder. That took place a few weeks ago. It was a wonderful occasion and the spirit was so strong. On Monday, shortly before our little Penny was born, Dick was able to go to Brother Lyman’s and give him a blessing. It wasn’t long after that, that Dick received word that Brother Lyman was no longer in pain and that his spirit had returned to our Heavenly Father. What a sweet man. His funeral services will be in San Antonio where he will be buried in the military cemetery there surrounded by family and friends as that is where he grew up.
On a more cherry note, Dick was able to golf in the BYU Management Society’s annual fundraiser Golf Tournament. He loved having Ricky on his team and his best would have been to have all his boys there with him. Have a good week, ya’ll, SLY Robynn

Ricky’s little women have been having spring allergies this week with so much wind, all the pollen is blowing and blowing and making for lots of runny noses and sneezing. I’m never bothered by allergies, and this week has gotten to me a few days too. I hope soon the wind will settle down and you little gals will be feeling better. They are both very, very excited for a brand new baby girl who will join our family in the next day or two. They are already planning a visit to Plano to visit her when she arrives. They might wait until she is one day old, but that is the limit. Little girl cousins are so much fun. They can’t wait to meet Tatia and Jakes new baby.
Our Dallas Granges
They say a nesting instinct kicks in before you have a baby. Tatia has Penny’s little nest so very cute and everything they can think of done and waiting. Thursday, at Tatia’s doctors visit, she told her to call Labor and Delivery on Sunday at 7:00 and check to see if they have room for her to come in to be induced. We are crossing our fingers that they will have room and that it won’t be too much longer before Penny arrives. Saturday afternoon we got to have a visit to their home. My sweet little pretend Granddaughter Kinsley Kate had her 5th birthday on Saturday. I invited her to go to lunch on a date and she thought it would be fun to bring Tatia and Jake with us too. She was right. It was much more fun with them along. Dick was even able to stop by after his training meeting and have cake and ice-cream with us. So very fun. Our Texas Rangers have a player named Ian Kinsler who wears the number 5. I had a little shirt made for Kinsley with her name and the number 5. I hope she will enjoy it for some snuggly pj’s.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Our Carmichael Thiot’s are on a road trip this weekend. They left Sacramento and headed to Sandy, Utah where Callum got to meet his great grandparents on his daddy’s side and some more fun relatives. As you can only imagine, they were all crazy about him and loved his beautiful smile. Unfortunately Gigi and Auntie Lani had bad colds and couldn’t hold him and love him but loved looking at his sweet face. Keelie was a hit as always. Everyone who meets our little Keelie falls in love with her. She even got to see Uncle Sky and Kara who she thought were wonderful. They were in town for a wedding reception and then Mackenzie and her mom and sister and Keelie and Callum, headed up to Idaho falls to see Mackenzie’s mom’s parents and to be to Mackenzie’s friend Melinda’s baby blessing today. WOW, that was a long sentence, do not try to diagram it. Charlie headed back home this morning and the rest of the family will follow on Tuesday. Be safe ya’ll!
One Orem Thiot and One San Fran Thiot
Pierce and Dick left last Sunday night after a bitter sweet farewell to Utah and headed to San Francisco. They arrived in Sacramento early Monday morning and made a surprise visit to Charlie’s family who were delighted to see them. They fixed them a yummy breakfast and then they headed towards San Fran. They stopped at IKEA along the way and picked up a few pieces of apartment sized furniture and then found their new apartment. Dick was a HUGE help in unloading the truck. I think it’s all those moving projects with ward members. He has perfected the art of carrying furniture. Fortunately, their apartment is on the ground floor, so no stairs to negotiate. Pierce wanted to have some fun after unloading and so they rented some bikes, biked across the golden gate bridge and packed in a bunch of more fun too. Including eating at least one meal each day their at In and Out Burgers. Pierce called last night and I got to Face Time with him in his new house. Pierce has done an incredible job of getting settled in. He said it’s been fun to have Stacy on face time and she can tell him where to put things. I think Stacy may be the smartest gal I know. The next time I move, I’m going to give Dick 23 days lead time to get us all moved in and settled in.

Spring Term started Tuesday morning. Sky really enjoyed having Dick in town and is already missing Pierce and Dick. He was sure glad when Kara returned from her quick trip to Dallas over Easter. I hope you got your bunny buns Sky. Maybe they did not pass inspection and the inspectors stole them. I hope you got them. Thanks Kara for being the delivery girl. Skyler send me a fun video of Charlie’s family, but I’m not smart enough or my computer is not new enough to know how to open it. I’m hoping when Dick gets home we can watch it. Thank you Sky!
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
With all the wind we have, it scooted Dick’s flight home 40 minutes ahead of schedule on Wednesday night. That was great as he could really hit the ground running. When he was unpacking his stuff, he told me he didn’t have much dirty clothes because he and Pierce had gone to the laundry matt and gotten caught up on laundry. I didn’t even know Dick knew how to do that, so I was double impressed. Dick had a great time on his trip to Graduation and then on with the moving party. He loves spending time with his kids. Saturday morning was a wonderful experience where Bishops and Stake Presidency’s were invited to some training. Elder Oaks and Elder Rasband came and did a wonderful job of reminding them of their important duties . Then Sunday morning we were blessed with a bonus Stake Conference where we got to listen to Elder Rasband speak to us. He reminded us of how important our families are to us. I loved it. I hope you have had a nice week and I can hardly wait until next Sunday to tell you all about our newest grandbaby. SLY Robynn
