Saturday evening in Mansfield, there was the cutest little girl name Addison celebrating her 2nd birthday, just a few days early. The theme was ladybugs and what darling ladybugs there were. Becky had made some out of paper and strung them together in a garland, and their was a whole family of ladybugs standing together making a darling lady bug cake, but the cutest lady bug of all was little Miss Addison. She wore a darling red and black lady bug dress. Oh is she cute and her big sister Brooklyn was having a ball as well. It was so fun to see those little girls and all their cute friends who came to help celebrate too. I loved being there. Thanks for inviting us Addie!

It was little Penny’s first birthday party to attend and what fun it was to have her there too. She had a good time and didn’t even fall asleep with all the fun things going on. Tatia and Jake were great partyographers and I can’t wait to see the pictures they took. They are amazing. I’m happy to report that after six weeks of intense studying, Jake took his exam on Friday and is most relieved that it is behind him. I’m not sure how long it takes to get the results back, I hope not too long. Tatia and Dick and Penny met up Friday afternoon for a lunch date. Dick was so tickled to get to see Penny as it had been 5 whole days. Tatia hosted the medical wives book club on Wednesday night and really enjoyed having them over. We had made strawberry jam the day before and she made some gorgeous and delicious rolls to serve with the jam at book club and sent all the sweet wives home with some delicious jam and rolls to share with their hubby’s.

Charlie and Mackenzie were both sick with some food poisoning, they are guessing, earlier this week. Not a good thing to have both parents feeling awful. Thankfully Grandma Smith arrived back in town and invited Keelie over for a sleep over and Callum was his even better than usual sweet self and did just fine. Thankfully, those types of bugs seem to come on quickly and then leave pretty soon too. I’m so glad you are all feeling better. Uncle Pierce told me he had a very fun phone call this week and it was Miss Keelie calling him on face time while he was at work. He was thrilled and I’m not sure if Keelie got permission to do it or not, but he was delighted. I’m hoping when I see Keelie in a few weeks, that she can teach her Gram how to do such tricky things on the phone. Keelie you are amazing!

Dick and I loved getting to see Pierce for another 35 minutes on Monday. He needed a ride to the airport, and we were THRILLED to be his Taxi ride. We stopped by Taco Bueno for some tasty dinner on the way and he had his favorite Beef Quesadia. He said they had had LOTS of fun with Stacy’s family and he hated to have to leave but work called him back. Stacy got to stay the rest of the week and went home Saturday night. I’m so glad they got to do that. Family is the best! Happy 25th Birthday tomorrow Pierce! I’m sooooo glad you are in our family!

We got a happy phone call from Skyler telling us that he has a JOB. He will be doing some Graphic Design work for KBYU TV, and will work 25 hours a week. He is so talented and good at that, I’m sure they are going to love his work. He called me on Thursday night to get the recipe for the meal we made after Penny’s blessing on Sunday. He and Kara wanted to make it for dinner. Then he sent me photos of how it turned out. WOWSERS! It looked beautiful and I could nearly taste and smell it from the photos. You two make a fine cooking team. Well done!

All of the Youth in the Texas Dallas Mission have participated in the most amazing Youth Conference this weekend. For the past two years, a steering committee of Eleven LDS Stakes have been preparing for this week of Jubilee. The youth have been rehearing in their own stakes since January and have had such an amazing six months. It started Thursday night and ended late Saturday night. Dick made many trips to the conference and every time returned with news that they were having a great time. I got to go help serve dinner on Friday night. I was the rice and beans lady and got to help serve 2000 kids and many, many volunteer adults a delicious Mexican dinner. I think with my experience, I might could get a job at Panchos serving the rice and beans. Saturday was the performance and Dick and I skipped out on Addie’s party a little early and made it just in time for the 7:30 performance. It was held at the Garland Special Events Center which holds 10,000 people. It was a marvelous experience to be there with that many people and cheer for our youth. During one of the acts that was talking about sharing the gospel, down from the stands came 100 missionaries from our mission each carrying a flag from a nation where the missionaries are currently serving. It was magnificent to see them and hear them sing. We loved it. I’m sure this is a week that our youth and leaders will never forget. What a strength there is in numbers of goodness. Have a great week ya’ll, Sly, Robynn

Hawaiian Falls opened a new water park in Mansfield last summer and Ricky’s family went a couple of times. This year, they decided to get a season pass so they could go as often as they like as they ALL enjoy being there. Saturday, they went and signed up and are looking forward to spending some cooling off time there this summer as we are having an extra HOT one in Texas. It seems like the very best way to handle the hot days is to be wet. We sure had fun the Brooklyn and Addison at Tatia and Jake’s pool on Friday night. It felt wonderful on that extra hot evening. Thanks for inviting us Tatia and Jake and Penny. Brooklyn and Jake had some fun times looking on the computer at different animals and birds. Brooklyn loves animals and is looking forward to some more “bird watching” with Jake soon. Ricky enjoyed being spoiled by his girls on Fathers Day. You are a great daddy Ricky!

Jake has one more week to study for his exam on Friday. He has been so dedicated and disciplined to study so hard. I have a good feeling that he is going to do very well. Tatia and Penny are getting ready to host the Medical school wives at the book club on Friday evening. Tatia got some good practice hosting a big group on Friday night when our family had a fun dinner and swim party there. Pierce and Stacy saved the evening for us and we loved getting to spend a few hours with them. I hope they are having a fun weekend in New Braunfels with Stacy’s family. I can’t wait to hear all about it. Jake enjoyed being spoiled on Sunday by his girls. What a cute daddy you are Jake. Your girls are crazy about you.

Mackenzie took Keelie and Callum to the Picture place last week for a photo shoot. They did each of the kids and then did them together. I’m hoping to get to take a peek at those pictures soon. There is something about taking pictures that can be stressful and a little crazy. I loved going with Mackenzie when Callum was just 2 weeks old to have his picture taken the first time. No matter how good you are at planning pictures around naps and feedings, it’s still a tricky adventure. I can’t wait to see them. Charlie sent some fun pictures of Callum celebrating the Maverick’s big win last weekend in his Maverick jersey. So CUTE Callum! I bet Charlie had a great Father’s Day too. He is an amazing dad and is adored by his two little ones.

It was soooooooooo wonderful to see Pierce and Stacy on Friday night. They flew in Friday afternoon and headed right to the dentist office. Stacy’s sister Jordan’s husband just started his dental practice in Keller Texas and had saved Pierce a seat for a cleaning and check up. Pierce was happy to report that he had NO Cavities. WOWSERS! That’s some good brushing and flossing habits you have Pierce. I’m soooooooooooo proud of you! We are going to get to see Pierce again this evening as we grab a bite to eat and run him to the airport. I’m glad he got to come if only for 72 hours.

Skyler finished up his exams last Friday and did very well. Way to go Sky! He had an accident with his cell phone and was grateful to the apple store that traded his broken one for a refurbished one. He had a great Sunday; he was able to attend the homecoming talk of cousin Alex and then had to dash home to finish writing his talk that he gave in his ward Sacrament Meeting. Then he and Kara dashed up to Sandy for a Father’s Day celebration at Lani’s house. They had a good time and got to meet Baby Taylor that night. He is soooooooooo cute and nice. I can’t wait to meet him in a few weeks.
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
Thursday afternoon was one of my favorite parts of my week. We were able to meet my cousin Elder Alex as he had a layover in Dallas for 3 hours. We scooped he and his companion up and took them to On the Border for your yummy Mexican food and some good visiting. It was so fun to see him and hear about his mission. His traveling companion was Elder Ence from St. George. We have some dear friends the Ence’s and we pretended that he was related and that he was family too. It was wonderful.
On Sunday, our nursery leaders were all out of town and I got to be in the nursery instead of attending Primary. What fun that was to be with six little darlings. We had fun singing, coloring, (a little on the table even, oops) snacking, marching with musical instruments and playing toys and to end the day, blowing and popping bubbles. It was so fun but exhausting.
The Primary was in charge of the Father’s Day gifts for all the Daddy’s in the ward. We took a can of A&W Root beer and tied a cute tag that said, You are an Awesome dad. We glued a bag of peanuts onto the can and they were cute.
It was fun to talk to my dad on Father’s day. He’s a great dad and I love him a lot. It was also fun getting to spoil Dick a little bit on Fathers Day. He was happy to hear from each of our kids. What a great dad he is. Have a great new week ya’ll. SLY Robynn
Skyler & Kara discovered a way to turn Sky's fat ties into skinny ties and found a great recipe for chocolate sheet cake and met some fun new friends while playing golf, a cute family of geese and went shooting. WOWSERS!
Happy Birthday tomorrow Lani!
Our Mansfield Thiot’sRicky had a second job interview this week for a new job and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this will be a great opportunity for him and his family. He will get to travel to Chicago for another interview some time next week. Our little Addison has had a tough week. She has been a binky girl and Ricky and Becky have been trying hard to think of a way to help support her in giving up the binky before her two year old birthday later this month. She decided she wanted to give her Binky to Baby Penny last Sunday at her blessing and she did but has had a tough week without it. One thing that has helped is that she moved out of her crib and moved into the bottom bunk of Brooklyn’s bunk beds. Two sisters sleeping in the same room is going to be the beginning of marvelous memories for those two little women.

Jakes family are all safely back home again. It was sure fun to see them and I’m so glad they could come and meet little Penny. She loved all the extra snuggling time with her Grange Grandparents. Jake is back in the studying mode preparing for his exam coming later this month. They have been enjoying a little bit of pool time. Their apartment has a lovely pool just about 20 steps from their house. I do believe that the best way to handle the heat, is to be wet. Tatia is speaking today in her ward’s visiting teaching conference. She gets to bear her testimony is English and in Spanish as her ward has a Spanish branch that meets with them. Tatia loves visiting teaching and will do a super job I am sure. Good Luck Miss T!

On Friday afternoon, Keelie, unbeknownst to Mackenzie call my sister Lani while she was at work. Mackenzie came in and could hear Lani’s voice and was so surprised that Keelie had called her. Lani loved it and is amazed at Keelie’s sweet phone skills. I could use some Keelie training to know how to work my phone. Keelie, could I rent you for a few days? We are crossing our fingers that Charlie’s family will be up to a quick trip to Utah for Cierra’s wedding in early July so we can see them and have lots of hugging time with those two dear grandchildren.

Dick got an amazing photo from Pierce and Stacy as they were visiting the Meir Woods, home to some mighty BIG Redwood trees. We tried to go at Christmas while we were there, but could not find a parking spot to make the hike in there. They loved it and enjoyed it for all of us. Stacy’s family is having a reunion this next weekend. Pierce and Stacy will come on Friday and then head to New Braunfels. Pierce will have to go back on Monday but Stacy will get to stay the week. We are looking forward to getting together with them on Friday night. Can’t wait to see you both!

It was so good to have Skyler home last weekend. I miss him a lot since he has gone back home to Provo. One of my favorite things was watching some OLD home movies. Skyler loved showing them to Kara while she was here and we all had some good laughs looking at them. I need to figure out how to put those videos onto DVD’s to save them for everybody. One of the videos, no longer turns, I hope I can find some place that does that or figure it out. Thanks again for coming Sky. Good luck on your last week of Spring term. Work hard!

Dick and I enjoyed having my sister Laurie and her hubby Mike here this week. We enjoyed some good food and some good movies and lots of good visiting. They are off to Georgia now visiting with their son Jordan and his wife Jamie. Have a great time. This week our Cub Scouts went to Day camp. They actually went to the afternoon session which is called Twilight camp. They had a great time and I was so happy we got to be part of the welcome home committee on Friday night when they came to the church to be picked up. Our Primary Presidencies from the 3 wards in our Pack were there to pass out otter pops and glow sticks and celebrate their great times and good memories they made. How thankful I am for good leaders and parents who made it possible for our boys to have those experiences. We got a phone call from Brother Bianez last night. He works as a policeman at the theatres on the weekends and had two movie passes and invited Dick and I to come. We had a good time for sure.
Tomorrow, June 13th is a wonderful day in our family. My sister Lani will celebrate her birthday. I was five years old when she was born and thought my mom had done the best thing she could have done to give me a baby sister. Oh I how I love that girl. It was so fun to have her visit a few weeks ago. Lani is a favorite in our family. She has 10 nephews and 4 nieces who think she is the greatest person on the planet earth. Now she has added 10 grand nieces and 2 grand nephews who have already signed in as members of the Lani fan club. She knows how to make you feel so loved and appreciated. Everytime I am with her, I love to watch and learn how she does it. So Happy Birthday tomorrow Lani! You are certainly loved by so many people. Everybody who meets you can feel that love you have for them. Happy Birthday Lani Pie! Dick and I are getting exctied for Thursday when Cousin Kathy P's son returns from his mission in the West Indies Mission. He has a 3 hour lay over and we are hoping to snatch him and take him to lunch before sending him on to Salt Lake to greet his MOST EXCITED Mom. We can't wait. SLY Rob

Ricky’s girls returned on Wednesday and all is well with the earth. We’ve gotten to see them twice and it is so good to have them back in Texas. They had lots and lots of fun at their Nana and Papa’s house and the time went by quickly for them, S L O W L Y for us. Welcome Home. Brooklyn is finished with pre-school for the year so Welcome Summertime. Hooray for Summer!

What a wonderful week this has been for Jake and Tatia and Penny. Jakes parents flew in on Thursday morning to meet little Penny and then Jake’s sister Jessie and her husband came on Friday, all of them to be here for Penny’s blessing day on Sunday in Sacrament Meeting. As you can only imagine, they are crazy about our little Penny. I don’t think she’s had many minutes where she hasn’t been in one of their loving arms this week. Penny is one lucky lady with so many people who adore her. Aunt Jesse and Uncle Mike left early Monday morning to go home and Grandpa Grange leaves today, but we get to keep Gigi until Thursday for some more snuggling time with Penny. Hooray!

I got to “Carpool” home with Charlie last night which was very nice. Hooray! I loved getting to catch up with his sweet family. He told me that he and Mackenzie are the proud owners of new eye glasses. The world is looking a little brighter and clearer to both of them. Hooray! When Char was in the 2nd grade, he had an eye infection and we took him to the eye doc who discovered that glasses would be most helpful for him. I’ll never ever forget driving back home from the doctor with Char and his new glasses and watching his amazement t be able to see that street signs had words you could read. He had no idea that they had names on them. What a blessed time we live in with eye doctors and glasses and contacts. Another piece of good news is that Keelie got signed up for preschool in the fall. I have a feeling, it won’t be too long and the teacher will just turn the class right over to Keelie. She is such a smart little woman.

What a great week this was for Pierce and Stacy. Remember a few weeks back when Pierce received an Addy award for the state of Utah. Well, his entry’s continued on to Regional’s and then Nationals and then he was invited to go to San Diego to receive his National Addy award. This time Stacy was able to come along too. Congratulations to both of you. I hope you had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to hear all about it. Stacy posted a fun blog entry about What it is Like to Live in San Francisco. You may want to sneak over to her blog and peek. I LOVED hearing all about it. Hooray !

Our Skyler was home for a Long weekend which happened to go by too quickly. It was WONDERFUL to see him and get to spend time with him. He brought good luck on Thursday night to the Dallas Mavericks but it didn’t hold out on Sunday. Sky is a big Mavs Fan and still has faith they can win again and come home Champions. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was to get better acquainted with cute Kara. It was fun to get to meet her family except for her 3 darling nephews who were already asleep when we were at their home. Now I understand why Sky is so crazy about Kara, she is a very fun, helpful, darling, sweet and of “good report” girl. (she is a reporter) Sky, you are one lucky man. I dropped Sky off at the airport Monday morning for his 12:05 flight home. When he got his ticket, they didn’t have a seat assignment for him, but told him to check in at the gate for a seat. As he did, they put him on the wait list and then offered him a voucher for another flight and a first class ticket on the next flight if he would wait for the 3:00 flight. He didn’t even have to think twice and went for it. HORRAY! Now we get to see him again soon. Thanks for coming home Skyler. We loved having you.

As you may have guessed already by what you have read above, this has been a mighty wonderful week in Plano, Texas. To make it even better, my sister Laurie and her hubby Mike arrived on Saturday afternoon to spend the week in Dallas on their way to Georgia to visit their cute son Jordan and his wife Jamie. It was WONDERFUL to have them come and represent our Utah family for Penny’s blessing. We love having them here. Mike has a brother Mark that lives in Garland, so we have to share them with him, but we love having them whenever we can. Thank You Mike and Laurie for building Texas into your travel itinerary. Great timing!
One of my favorite moments of the week would hands down be when my little girls arrived on Saturday for a Texas Barbeque. Brooklyn walked in and was about to give me a hug and then she saw Skyler. Her face just lit up and she said, “Uncle Sky, You’re HERE!” She ran to him with hugs galore. I LOVED that. Brooklyn, you are a dear little woman. We had a house full on Saturday night and what fun it was to have our empty nest filled to the brim. We loved having Jakes family and Kara’s family and our dear Christensen’s’ here with us too. Little Penny, you have a lot of people who love you and your Grammy and Graypa are right at the top of the list. Have a wonderful week ya’ll. SLY, Rob
