New post

This is a new post about my family. I like to write about my family. My family likes to go to Gilroy Gardens. My sons have a great time there. Oddly enough, their favorite ride is the train that goes around the edge of the park (same with Disneyland).

Just the Boys

Ana went to a baby shower this morning so the boys and I went off exploring around Stanford.  Despite being here for what seems an interminable number of years, there were still a few things that we hadn't checked off the list yet.

First up: Hoover tower.

I know, in a rational sort of way, that Max can't possibly fit through the bars.  And I also comforted myself with the fact that there is a quite convenient ledge only ten feet down that would catch him should he choose somehow to squeeze himself through the bards.

But still.  Nervous.

Image

A little cheesy, but this is how I see these boys attacking life.  Together.  No fear.

Next: the Mausoleum.  Or Sarcophagus.  Or whatever it's called where the Stanford's are buried. Very picturesque little route.

After that: Off to the cactus garden.  Turns out cacti can be quite beautiful.

Post-cactus: exploring what feels like a medieval forest that in an earlier age we'd be executed for hunting on.  But today -- climbing trees.

And sitting in holes.  There may or may not be some sort of animal hole at the base of that stump.  It could be some sort of ferocious racoon, or Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, but whatever it is, my money is on Max.

Finally: Smelling flowers.  We may have destroyed some (many) of them.

Will the Skateboarder . . . Or Thug?

I don't think there is anything wrong with looking a little tough. After all, you've got to get them ready for high school sometime. And I spent a fair amount of time on skateboards and throwing rocks at other kids in the canals in SoCal.
Wait.
No, that's all wrong.
This is just a cute hat that Will is sporting -- brought it back from the awesome trip to Alaska. Next time, the boys come with.

Brothers

Our two boys having a blast together. I'll let them fill out the reminder of this post.
Will: Me and Max playing in the basket. Max is really funny. And also I think sometimes I say blah-blah-blah.

Max: [laughs to himself]

Road Rage

Lately Will is reminding me that when I get in the car I should slow down and relax. But for some reason I always drive as if I'm in a hurry. And most of the time I am in a hurry. But the other day, we were running late to meet some friends at the park and Will says, "Are those cars KIDDING you Mama???" And later it was, "Hurry, hurry, go faster Momma...there are so many cars ahead of us." So yes, maybe I should stop driving like a race car driver and more like a responsible adult.

Just a Little Snack

Max, like me, is a big snacker. I guess this behavior is more socially acceptable for toddlers than adults (although I am still a graduate student, so...). He also eats off the floor from time to time. It's not that he prefers it, necessarily, over a table. The floor is just more convenient sometimes.

I should also point out that these are HEB Buddy Grahams. No one can resist them, no matter what horizontal surface they happen to be on.

Max Eating

Nothing momentous here. Just Max being adorable while eating a cookie.
