When I upgraded to Photoshop CS5 I got to choose a freebie from a short list... I ended up choosing "Phototools 2.5" which is a Photoshop plugin which adds several hundred effects which can be layered and modified, much like actions, except with much more control. I haven't had much chance before today to play with it. It's very cool. This one is called "Dirty Money". I quite like it. Doesn't really work where you've got a lot of skin showing (the texture makes people look excessively hairy!), but I think it works with these shots.

I've seen a few reviewers sneer at the vibration reduction feature on this lens, stating they don't think it's necessary on an ultra-wide. I must disagree. These shots were handheld at speeds as low as 1/4 second and are extremely sharp. Even with the barrel distortion that this lens has on its wide end, it's become just about my favorite of my arsenal. The D700 is simply amazing at high ISO; combine that with VR and you're set for some sweet low-light photography.

I have to put a plug in for the new Photoshop CS5 as well... the RAW converter is simply extraordinary, and the Content Aware Fill, while not magic, is amazing. It's worth the couple hundred bucks to upgrade - no second thoughts.
