every fireman needs a dalmatian

My mom had a great idea to get the boys pictures taken in their Halloween costumes. We went this morning and they did so good!

story time fun and thank you!

This past Monday the kids were able to dress up for story time at the library. For those of you that know me....I did not become the crazy mom this week. I made sure we were a little early. However, Cade has now learned that we run to get a ticket. :) Cade wore his new fireman costume and Reid borrowed a lion costume from my friend, Cindy.

Cindy's mom actually made this costume last year. She did an AMAZING job. It's the lion from Wizard of Oz. Notice the medal of courage???

We also want to thank Mimi for the fun Halloween buckets. The snacks were eaten very quickly and Cade has loved playing with his little fire truck. Also, thank you for sharing the new Alpha-bits with us....it's our new favorite snack! We only wish they came in a bigger bag rather than the 100 calorie packs.

sippy cups and crawling

The other day (the 23rd) Reid took a sippy cup for the first time. He was more into playing with the cup, but was happy nonetheless. Also, yesterday (the 28th) Reid crawled up on his hands and knees for the first time. I was in my room for mom's day out getting everything ready and I had set him down to play with my teaching partner, Lori's little boy. I looked back and I saw him moving right along. He only went a short distance before he realized that doing the army crawl is much quicker! He's a fast little guy!

pumkin patch

We went to the pumpkin patch with the Meers last Friday. The kids had fun running through all the pumpkins and stopped a few times for pictures.

Reid was all smiles! (Can some photography person please tell me why some of my pictures have that dot thing in them???? How can I prevent that next time?? It sure ruined a good picture!)

Yesterday Cade came into the kitchen with a "football helmet" on. Poor guy couldn't see, so I cut a whole in the front. I don't know how he thought the box was a helmet, but at least he has an imagination! If you look he has a football in his right hand. He was saying, "down, set, hut hut"!

8 is great!

Image
Reid is 8 months old! He is such a wonderful little guy, eight months is such a fun age. Reid's personality is really coming out. He loves playing on the floor and has really mastered that army crawl. He still gets up on his hands and knees, but decides that the army crawl is much quicker. He is also pulling up on things and even crawls in my lap if I am sitting on the floor with him. He absolutely loves playing with Cade. They love passing toys back and forth in the car, laughing the whole time. They also lay next to each other on the floor and give hugs or Cade just lets Reid grab all over his face. They laugh at each other and it is such a sweet sound to hear. Reid has also really started showing disapproval when you take things away from him. He still doesn't take a pacifier or suck his thumb, which can be a blessing and a curse. Poor guy is getting over his second double ear infection of the month. I can tell he is feeling better because he has become quite the little eater. He loves his baby food and Gerber puffs. It's actually a bit funny, when Reid eats his puffs he almost always growls! Reid also got two teeth on the bottom this month. He is just growing too fast. One of my favorite things that Reid does is that he gives the best hugs. I just love this little guy!

the girls came home!

Tessa and Taleigh came home this past weekend for a visit. We had a fun time watching Tech beat aTm together and then went to the Cy-Creek vs Cy-Fair football game. On Monday we went to lunch with Tessa before her flight.

Watching the game with the family. My dad put on the crab hat (for Tech football player Michael Crabtree). He's such a fan!

This is the only picture I got of Cade with his jersey and hat on. Sorry about the food in the mouth!

The Mitchams also came over to watch the game. This is Tessa and Rachel

look what Reid can do!

Look what Reid did the other night (the 16th). Two nights before (the 14th) Reid stood up in Cade's bed using the bed rail. As you can tell, he is awful proud of himself!

Pumpkin Patch

Here are a few pictures from when our playgroup went to a pumpkin patch last Monday, the 13th.

Image I tried to get a good brother picture, but none of them were close to blog worthy. :( We are going to another pumpkin patch in a few days, so hopefully I will get a good one then.

Cy-Fest

Matt and I took the boys over to Cy-Fair college for their annual Cy-Fest last Saturday, the 11th. Our friends Jonathan and Michelle met us there with their boys also. We stayed near the fire station the majority of the time. Cade and Keegan had a blast. They were able to climb in lots of fire trucks and an ambulance. Cade didn't know what to think, he would just run from fire truck to fire truck. We also got to see the firefighters put out a car fire, watch life flight land and Cade got to spray the fire hose! We walked over to the college to check out the festivities they had going also. They had free sausage on a stick so we decided to stand in line and take advantage. However, the person in front of us got the last one...yes, the person in front of us. So, we gave Cade a little snack to tie him over and slowly made our way back to our car. On our way back to the fire station is when life flight landed! We had a perfect view. Cade was very excited! I was so glad that we were able to take Cade so he could experience everything first hand. It was such a fun day.

Image Cade is really into gloves right now....don't ask. Of course he found some on one of the trucks and had to put them on. I wasn't fast enough to get a picture with them on, but this is the best I got.

They had a fireman with all his gear on for the kiddos to take their picture with. I didn't necessarily want the picture, but I wanted Cade to realize that the fireman was a nice guy and not someone to be scared of. I have heard that it is good to get your children to not be scared of the firemen because you don't want them to hide from them if there is ever a situation where they need to be rescued. So, Cade freaked out as I thought he would and the fireman was so nice and got Cade to warm up to him. The fireman was initially on his knees and we decided that just standing up for a picture would be best. Well, Cade now talks about the fireman all the time. He actually says, "fireman" and then drops to his knees like the guy was when he was taking pictures.
