it's really done now

My wonderful mom came over today to help me make Cade's bed skirt for his big boy bed. I am embarrassed to say how long I have actually had the fabric sitting in my house. It's just been one of those projects that kept getting pushed farther and farther down the to-do list. Well, I can now cross it off the list. Thank you to my wonderful husband for corralling the kids and even taking them grocery shopping while I was sewing! Also, a big thanks to my mom for coaching me along the way and ironing all the hems....that's the worst part! You're the best!

Here are a few pictures of the completely finished room!

Image see how the bedskirt matches the curtains and the crib bedding!

my silly boys

Today I've been working around the house doing dishes, laundry, cleaning, etc. The boys have been playing all morning very well together. I have loved listening to them laugh as they play. Well, I was sweeping the floor and they went into my room together. I kept calling for them to come out, but really wasn't pushing it because they were out of the way. I heard them laughing and laughing and I was just enjoying listening. I finished sweeping and decided that I needed to peek in to see what was going on. This is what I found.....

ImageApparently Cade was helping by fixing Reid's hair. Reid loved it. I'll have to wash his hair before we leave the house today, I can barely brush it there is so much gel!

ImageHere are a few more pictures of my silly boys from the past week.
Cade has decided that there is nothing better than 2 pair of sunglasses!

Image
Cade was "cutting" Reid's hair with the drill. I guess it makes the same noise as the clippers??? Do you see this hair cutting/styling trend we have going on? I've gotta do something about that.

This is the typical Reid pose while I vacuum. He follows me from room to room and does the same thing. I think that's the same face I get from Matt often! :) (love you Matt!)

Reid's 11 months old!!!!

Image
ImageReid is 11 months old today. I can't believe he's only a month away from being 1 year old! I know it sounds silly, but I love him more and more every day. He can be a little ham and makes me laugh all the time. He has this new smile where he wrinkles up his nose and this new laugh, too. Reid is very active these days and gets into way too many things he's not supposed to. He loves playing with the knobs on the dishwasher, any cabinet he can get open, the computer, the toilet paper, pretty much anything he can reach! We have learned that he loves pushing cars around. I actually caught him today pushing a cup around like it was a car! Reid is always trying to keep up with his brother. I know that once he starts walking I am going to be in a heap of trouble with those two! He has already been trying to stand on his own so I don't think it will be long until he takes those first steps. Reid has started lots of babbling. He says Mamma, Dadda, uh-oh, that?, thank you, bye-bye and many other "words" that we haven't figure out. He does that backwards bye-bye wave that is just too cute that you don't want to correct. One day he'll figure it out, but for now I love it. He also claps his hands and is working on saying "more" in sign language. We have pretty much stopped all baby food since he wouldn't eat them. Reid is quite independent in that area, he really wants to feed himself everything. He is eating lots of different foods and tries pretty much everything I put in front of him. He has 4 teeth now so chewing food is a bit easier for him. Overall he is doing really well and is such a happy little guy.

quick learners

It becomes more apparent every day how much Cade really watches what Matt and I do and say. I catch him saying phrases that we say, not realizing that we say that until he says it back. Matt and I are often saying, "do I say that?". Cade also has many different facial expressions. I have no idea where he gets them until I catch myself doing the same ones. Well, tonight Cade was sitting next to Matt at Pei Wei. We had gotten the boys a kids chicken lo mein so they could split the chicken. Matt ate the noodles because Cade has never really liked noodles and they were egg noodles. It ended up that Cade thought he needed a bite. Since he has been doing so well with the milk I thought why not give eggs a try. I had Benadryl and the epi pen in the diaper bag as I always do. Cade took the noodle, but wanted it to hang out his mouth.....hmmmm. He immediately leaned over his plate and slurped up the noodle. Matt and I were trying so hard not to laugh, but just couldn't hold it in. Matt looked at me and said, "Do I really slurp the noodles that bad?" I had no comment! :) Cade ended up eating several bites and slurped up every one!

By the way, see those carrots on his plate? I had some extra carrots at home so I cooked them for Reid. Cade now loves my carrots and that was his 3rd helping! I don't know who this new Cade is that is trying new foods and liking them, but I love it! Oh, there was NO reaction from the egg noodles! :)

little Reid

Reid got a rare treat today....play time all by himself! He had taken an early nap so when Cade was sleeping he got to play all by himself! He kept himself very busy pushing cars around. We've learned lately that this is his favorite thing to do. It doesn't matter the size of the toy as long as there are 4 wheels and it goes! By the way, thanks Anne for the firetruck.....it's a hit with my boys so far!

Image

We also have learned over the last few weeks that Reid has a sweet tooth. He loves ice cream. I gave him a few licks of an ice cream cone at Chick-fil-A and he was hooked! After every bite he gave me this goofy grin. We actually went again last night (surprised?) and Reid has now learned how to lick the ice cream....he looks like a little snake when he does it! So far he hasn't shown any of the allergies that Cade has/had. I have really enjoyed being able to feed him anything without worrying about the ingredients!!! By the way, Cade has eaten CHEESE quesadillas 3 times now and had several bites of a string cheese today with NO side effects! I think I am going to try a cup of milk soon!!!!
my goofy little monkey! He finally got his other top tooth last week! He is up to 4 teeth now.

this is just an extra picture for you. We went to the outlet mall the other day and the boys had fun playing in the bus together.

Though the Cotton Bowl didn't end well, we had fun cheering on our Red Raiders. Let's hope for another great season next year!

sorry for the graphic nature, but......

Cade just went poo poo on the potty for the first time!!!! It's crazy how excited you get about poop! I was planning on waiting to potty train him, but several people have commented on how they think he is ready and honestly, he really is interested in it. I will gladly accept any tips for those of you who have walked this road with a little boy!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my Dad's birthday!!! I am really blessed with an incredible Dad. I am a horrible writer, but my sister Tiffany was right on when she talked about how amazing he is. Happy Birthday, Dad! I hope you had a wonderful day! We enjoyed celebrating at Spring Creek BBQ with you!

Christmas, again

Madison was at her Dad's house on Christmas day so we went to Tosha and Bobby's the day after to celebrate with Madison. Madison got some great gifts and Cade got some, too! Tosha had kept the boys gifts from her at her house so they would have something to open while Madison was opening her gifts. I had also accidentally left Taleigh's gift for Cade at our house on Christmas (because I had done her shopping for her!) so he got to open that gift as well.

Tosha and Bobby got Cade a hummer. He was very excited....the doors open! That's a big deal for Cade! He also got a waste management trash truck that he loves. It makes noise when you dump the trash in! Oh the things boys love! :)

We gave Madison a new outfit for her American Girl bitty baby. When she was done opening she ran to get her doll so she could get her all dressed!

We had an awesome Christmas. Thank you Mom and Dad for making our day so special for us and for the boys!

Christmas Eve

We went to the Christmas Eve service at our church and then over to my parents for dinner and fun. After dinner we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and Cade and Reid got to blow out the candle. Cake was the only thing Cade wanted for Christmas this year. He knew it was Jesus' birthday and he wanted to celebrate!
Here are a few pictures.

Zach and Cade worked very hard to blow out the birthday candle

Once they finally blew it out they had fun digging in the cake.

Cade took a bite or two and he was done. Zach on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed himself.
