Reid is 1!!!

One....really?!?!  It's hard to believe that a year ago our sweet Reid came into this world.  I have tried so hard to enjoy every minute with our little guy, but the minutes seem to go by too fast.  I feel it an absolute privilege to be the one he calls "momma".  My little Reid has grown quite a bit from the 7lbs 15 oz last year.  He is 22 lbs 6 oz now (25-50%) and is 31 1/2 inches tall (90-97%!!!).   He has 7 teeth now, also.  He loves to eat most foods and is always asking for a bite.   Matt and I are amazed at his language.  It is often that we are asking ourselves, "Did he just say that?"  The other day he actually said basketball!  It was more like ba-ball, but he was looking right at the basketball.  Balls are one of his new favorite toys to play with.  He is also starting to show an interest in books.   Reid still isn't walking (he actually took his first step this past Wednesday, the 25th...just 3 days after his first birthday).   I did, however, catch him jumping in his bed the other day when I went to get him out.   I may have another jumping bean on my hands!   I have noticed also that he is always paying close attention to detail.  He loves playing with Cade's tool bench at home putting the screws in and out of the holes.  He is also always aware of what is going on around him.  Reid really is such a sweet, happy little guy.   My love has grown more over the last year than I ever could have imagined.   I am excited and a bit sad at the same time that my little baby is one.   The first year is so special, but I know that there are so many great things in our future.

crawfish boil

After Reid's party the kids took a long nap and then we headed over to Tosha and Bobby's house for a crawfish boil.  It was cold outside, but that didn't stop the kids from having a great time.

Cade was so proud of himself for swinging in the big swing

Reid was quite occupied with the tool bench.  He loves fitting the screws in the holes.  He does the same thing at our house.  He seems very focused to little details.
Image
After ALL the crawfish was peeled we made smores.  Cade wanted to roast his own marshmallow.  He didn't eat it, but had fun toasting one for me!

Thanks Tosha and Bobby for the yummy crawfish!

Reid's 1st birthday party

We had Reid's birthday party this past Saturday.  He is my little monkey always climbing on everything so we had a monkey party!

Cade's visit to the dentist

I took Cade to the dentist on Wednesday.  In my mind the appointment was going to go so well.  I already thought about where I was going to stand to take the picture of him sitting so well letting the dentist check his teeth.  Well, I have no picture because I was sitting in the chair holding him down so the dentist could at least count his teeth while he was screaming!!!  I was running late so I didn't get to drop Reid off at my mom's, so he was screaming as well.   It was a very quick visit and then I had to get a quick adjustment on one of my teeth.  I thought Cade was bad during his visit, but once they laid me back in the chair he totally lost it.  I think he was just scared because he didn't know what they were doing to his mommy.  So, anyway, he was screaming horribly which made Reid scream.  Let's just say it's AMAZING how fast they got me out of that office! :)

a little of this and that

It's been way too long since I have updated the blog so here is a little of what we have been doing lately.....

Cade LOVES playing his guitar while dancing and singing.   He's had the guitar since Christmas and we have already had to glue it back together once.  I love watching Cade watch his shows on TV.  He does the exact motions and sings about every 4th word.   There is no sitting and watching TV for Cade, he is always active while watching!  By the way, don't ask about what is on TV...I think it's a segment from the Wiggles.  They drive me crazy, but I think it's better than the Doodlebops!  Cade also loves to watch Curious George, Sid the Science Kid, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Leap Frog Letter Factory (AWESOME video to help learn letters and sounds.  Cade recognizes all the letters and knows all the sounds with the help of this video!), Leap frog Word Factory, Veggie Tales Silly Songs and Elmo.

The church had an event a few weeks ago for hunters called Call of the Wild.  They gave away an ATV as a door prize.  They called 5 numbers and my dad happened to be one of the five.  They had to go on stage and use a duck call and do their best imitation.  It was all for fun and afterwards they drew randomly from the 5 people to win the ATV.  My dad didn't win, but it sure was entertaining!  That morning he had lasik surgery so he was wearing his goggles to protect his eyes.

We had a fun night at Fuddruckers with several friends to celebrate a friends birthday.  My friend Lesly got this HUGE burger.  She did split it with her husband.....
Image
Cade has decided that he likes bread now.  He had already eaten his hot dog and this is Cade eating the bun.  I am SO excited that Cade is trying and liking new foods.  His milk allergy is gone and I think the egg allergy is gone also.  We have been testing it out and have had no reactions so far!  He even had 2 bites of scrambled eggs the other day!

My baby, Reid, got his first haircut on the 12th.  He had just gone to the doctor and we found out he had a double ear infection.  He didn't feel the greatest, but this was our only chance to get all the boys haircut at one time.

The before:

He sat really well until the end.  I just helped hold him on the bench.

On Valentine's Day my mom had a special lunch for the grand kids.  It worked out perfect so Matt and I could go on a lunch date.  Mom had the table set up so cute.

I sat Reid down in the chair and he started eating right away.  I was surprised that he actually stayed sitting there with no problems!

this was the best picture I could get of Cade, excuse the Cheetos in his mouth!

My mom had the boys cookies wrapped up for them in the middle of the table.  My mom has made these cookies every Valentine's for as long as I can remember.  I even remember her making them for our Valentine's parties at school and she would write each students name on them.  She still does a cookie for every member of the family and sends it to them if they aren't here.  Isn't she the best???

I walked in to check on Reid one day during his nap and this is what I found.  He is loving on his monkey, George.  I love peeking on my kiddos while they sleep.
Image
Last week we went over to my parents house so Cade could tell my parents dog good-bye.  He wasn't doing well at all and my mom had a feeling he wasn't going to live much longer.  Copper was 15 (that's 105 in dog years!!!).  Cade has no clue what happened, he just thinks he went bye-bye.  Cade walked out and said bye to Copper and gave him a kiss.  It was too sweet.  Two days after this picture Copper couldn't walk anymore and then was put down two days after that.

Warren and Mary Beth visit

This past Saturday Warren and Mary Beth (Matt's dad and his wife) came in town for a visit. We had a fun day playing, going to the park, eating out and then playing a game after the kids went to bed. Here are a few pictures from the day.

They brought Reid's birthday present. A fun learning puppy!
Image In keeping with their tradition. They brought the non-birthday sibling a small present. Cade was very excited about the puzzle!

We had a great time at the park.
