another autograph

Chris Sampson (Astros pitcher) was at Whataburger signing autographs. Of course we had to go!

Check out Cade's outfit. I tried to get him to wear a regular hat and he insisted on his batting helmet. I figured this was one outing that it would actually be ok! :)

Astros 7-6-09

Matt and I took Cade to the Astros game last night. Matsui and Michael Bourn signed his ball before the game.

Reid stayed with Mimi and Pa (thank you). It made the game a little less hectic.

After we got Cade's ball signed we ended up sitting on the 3rd row next to the dugout. (actually next to the photographers area which was next to the dugout) We figured we would stay there until someone made us move, which never happened. I had made a sign that said Pudge's #1 fan that we were going to hold up while he was warming up before the game. I really just wanted him to come and at least give Cade a high 5. Well, Pudge didn't end up playing last night. I ended up propping up the sign right next to Cade's seat so the guys in the dugout could see it. About halfway through the game Pudge actually waved to Cade! Miguel Tejada was next to him and reached into his glove and was going to throw Cade a ball. I asked him if he could get Pudge to sign it and he did!!! Pudge came over and waved to Cade, gave him a thumbs up and then threw him the ball!!! Cade was one excited little boy!!!!
here is the sign and the ball Pudge signed

little baseball player

If you know Cade at all you know that he is a HUGE baseball fan. He loves watching the games to cheer on the Astros. He also loves to play. Cade is always putting on and taking off all his different baseball gear. His newest addition to the set is his baseball helmet. He also got 2 different baseball t's for his birthday. One of them even pitches the ball to him! You would be amazed at how well he can actually hit. Cade has also started to "throw the heat" like the pitchers. He is always cracking us up with the new mannerisms he picks up from the Astros. He wipes his brow like Roy Oswalt, fixes his batting gloves like Lance Berkman and even bangs his chest and looks in the sky in efforts to do the Father, Son thing that Pudge does before he bats. (sorry to any Catholics....I have no idea what that is called) I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Cade's 3rd birthday

My little Cade turned 3 this past Friday. 3. I keep calling him my little 3 year old just so it will sink in. Cade is growing into an amazing little guy. I am so happy with the changes he has made this year. He has started talking so much better and in much longer sentences. He has learned to control himself so much better and has found ways to channel his energy. He is trying so many new foods because his milk and egg allergy are gone! He is potty trained now!!! Cade has learned all his letters and their sounds along with recognizing numbers through 9. He knows his colors and quite a few shapes. He loves learning and really misses Mom's Day Out. His memory is actually pretty amazing and he is an extremely observant little guy. I really have to be careful what I say and do! I also love how Cade remembers to pray before every meal. Cade absolutely loves sports...baseball, football, basketball, soccer and even golf! I am amazed with how well he does when playing them, too. He is a very good big brother and cares about Reid more than I often realize. I love watching their relationship grow.
Some of Cade's favorite things right now are baseball, shooting baskets, playing games (our new favorite is Mickeys letters and numbers!), McDonald's, reading books, playing outside, and playing golf. I love how Cade always makes me laugh even when he isn't trying! I could sit all day and just watch his expressions.
I continue to pray that he comes to have a relationship with the Lord at a young age and that he will be a light to those around him. I hope that his passion never leaves him and that he continues to keep me on my toes.
Happy Birthday Cade!!!

Here are a few pictures from Cade's "All American baseball" party.

Cade had lots of friends come over to Mimi and Pa's house to help celebrate.
Cade wouldn't jump off the diving board, but was close by to cheer on all his friends.

long overdue pictures

I have been a horrible blogger lately. Sorry. The last few months have been so super crazy, but finally things are slowing down. It has been nice to have a few days where I have no plans!
We still haven't found a house to move to. We are still set to close on July 24th. Please pray we find something very soon!
Here are a few pictures of the last month so you can get caught up.

Matt's dad won tickets to the Astros game for June 25th. I was so excited about that until I realized it was the last day of VBS and it was a day game. I knew I would be too busy with VBS so Matt took a half day and took Cade to the game. We didn't tell Cade about the game until Matt showed up at the church. Cade was so excited when he saw Matt in his Astros jersey...he knows what that means. Cade was wearing his VBS shirt and Matt told him he couldn't go to the game in that and Cade took his shirt off so fast, no worries that it was in the middle of the nursery. They ended up getting to the game a little early and got Jeff Keppinger to sign a ball that Cade had gotten during batting practice from one of the players. Pudge, didn't play that game but Cade was happy that he saw him lean up against the dugout fence towards the end of the game. Matt took Cade to buy an Astros bat after the game. That is the only thing Cade had asked for for his birthday. Needless to say, they both had an awesome time.

Oh-during the game a photographer for the Chronicle took Cade's picture! He later came and asked Matt for Cade's name. Cade's picture was in the paper the next day! This is the picture from the paper.

This is another picture the chronicle guy took that was online.

I LOVE the expression on Cade's face in this picture!

We have had fun playing outside in the evenings. It is still SO hot, but much more bearable than the afternoons!
Reid likes riding the little scooter and ringing the bell. He looks like a goofy little kid in this picture! I love it....
Image

One morning I pulled out the little pool for the backyard and called the Meers to come over. The kids had a blast playing together.
Cade and Payton look like they are having a contest...

doesn't it look like Reid is trying to do a GQ pose?

Reid also LOVES the water hose. Especially spraying people with the water hose.

Reid thought he needed to wear dad's ear muff thing. I just thought he looked too silly!
Image
Both boys love playing on this little horse at my parents house. I have a picture of me on that same horse when I was little.

Another evening outside. The boys got a hold of the hose when I was done watering the flowers

They laughed SO hard while spraying each other.
