Darth Vader, My Coffee Maker...

I've recently noticed that my coffee maker slightly resembles Darth Vader when the lid is open.
I've also noticed that it sounds like DV when it is brewing a fresh cup.
Is it me, or does anyone else see the resemblance?

I just came to the conclusion that I'm glad it doesn't look or sound like joba-the-hut. That would be terrible...

Rain...

The monsoon season has officially began and my rain barrels are overflowing...

It puts a smile on my face and I'm sure that these little herbs will be happy after a swig or two.

Sojourn: a temporary stay.

A part of me can't be anywhere for too long without getting tired of it. Lately, my inner-gypsie has been prompting me to explore somewhere new. We have lived in NM for a year, which is about 3 months longer than any of our past moves. I came here knowing that we would be here awhile and even though it troubled my soul, I never thought it would bother me the way that it has. At times I consider quitting school, packing-up, and finding some place new to meander. I've had this place on my mind since I can remember...

I keep telling myself that I will buy a ticket when I finally have my degree in my hands...I just wonder if I will be able to leave once I finally get there.

Tim and I watched Whalerider the other night and my constant itch to visit New Zealand was stronger than ever. I highly suggest reading the book or watching the movie if you haven't already...it is my favorite.

Anyways, I believe my life will be full of sojourning. The other day I told Tim that if I ever got a tattoo it would say "Sojourn." He laughed and asked if I thought that it was an oxymoron. I told him of course not and that I thought it fit me well. He then agreed, but informed me that the having a tattoo that meant 'a temporary stay' didn't make sense considering that a tattoo is 'a permanent stay.' The man does have a point.

Becoming a Better Blogger...

This is one of my most recent goals that I have set for myself. Sadly, it doesn't seem that I have anything to blog about lately. We haven't been able to travel much this past year because of school and our internships. Though we do have many places in mind...we just want to finish school and go. go. go. Life has been flying by! We hope everyone is well, we miss and love you all dearly. Hopefully it won't be too long before I make another post. Sorry to those of you who could care less to hear about my dog, but he is my baby and I just love my sweet boy!

Happy Birthday...

To this guy...
Image
The big 56! I can't believe it...his shirt, that is. (Probably not the shirt you should wear when you're spending the day with your girlfriend and her family) That's my dad for ya, gotta love it!

If you can't read his shirt it says, "GET IT ON"--maybe it meant something different back in those days.

Lately...

As of lately..we do not have a stove/oven. Thank goodness for camping stoves, eh? I can't help but laugh everytime I use it because I think about my dad and how he couldn't cook on a regular stove, so he would get out his trusty camp-stove to cook dinner or breakfast for us. I think whether my stove is fixed by the 11th or not, I will be cooking blueberry pancakes on our camp-stove to celebrate his birthday. =)

I am in an amazing art class and felt like creating some art for our house. I found this branch in the yard and decided to bring it inside and hang a few sentimental items on it and call it good...come on now, it's New Mexico, anything goes!

I know my dog is way too spoiled, but check out his new sleeping bag. Yep, he thinks he is pretty damn awesome!

Catching up...

So the holidays went by in a blurr and we are now back in study-mode. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We spent Thanksgiving with Mom,Ty,Cass, and their amazing children (we are keeing our fingers crossed that they stay in Texas, we will find out in the morning). They drove to our house on their way to UT...a crazy storm decide to come through at the same time.

He was more than happy to shovel the snow...

Utah was a blast! I had two of the best snowboarding days of my life...and spent time with my fun family. I just wish I had a picture of Lincoln and I dancing on the Wii, good times..good times. After Utah, we went to Colorado and spent time with Anne, Anthony, JoJo, and Tim's parents. They took us on a hike called "the incline"...and an incline it was! It was amazing!

That looks like the top, but oh no...that is a false summit!
