Because that last post went so smoothly (no markers on children's bodies, no forts under the kitchen table, and -best of all- my pictures actually uploaded) I decided to post some more pics. (I know... huge treat!)

Enjoy!

It's Harvest Time, It's Harvest Time!

We finally planted a real garden this year. Hooray! The kids have loved watching things grow, and they especially love to harvest the fruits of our labors! Here are some pictures of our crop, including the Wilson super-sized prize summer squash (it's a secret family growing recipe)! I've found so many amazing squash recipes. For example, who ever knew you could make squash casserole, squash "puffs", squash burritos, or - my favorite - squash bread!

Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

Every Thanksgiving morning, in almost every city, there is a Turkey Trot. I love to find out when and where one is nearby, and take the family out to celebrate our health. I love starting out Thanksgiving day this way.
This year, we heard from some friends about the Atalaya Turkey Trot in our hometown of Santa Fe, NM. I signed up for the 5k, and then I signed up Denali and Elias for the Kids' 1k. They were sooo excited! A couple days before, Denali and I went to pick up the race packets with our numbers and T-shirts. They were so funny, because they laid out their clothes (in the middle of the entry way) complete with their numbers.

Can't forget the water bottles, right?! =)

That morning, it was super cold and rainy. It snowed later in the day. Here we are the morning of!

Here I am, finishing my race...

The kids did fabulous in their race! Denali took off ahead, then came back to run with us. Eli kept wining that he thought he was too little complete such a long race (1 kilometer = .62 miles). I'd coax him on, telling him to just do the best he could. He stopped once or twice to walk, "Mom, I need to rest" he'd say.

After the halfway turn-around point, I said, "You guys are doing so great! We're almost finished!" Eli looked at me and said, "We are?" "Yeah!" I answered. Without another word Eli took off ahead of Denali and me and didn't let up his pace until he crossed the finish line. His little legs were so cute!
At the end of the race, each finisher received a medal. The kids were so proud of their medals. Eli later informed his Grandpa Micky, "I runned a race today. Lots of people were cheering for me 'cause I was fast! It was really hard, but I wonned it 'cause I got this shiny gold (it was silver) medal!"

Denali's Birthday - Feb 2008

Image I know this is INCREDIBLY late.

These pics are from Denali's birthday party in February. I printed this collage on 4x6 pictures and put them with her Thank You notes.

She had a "Pegasus Pony Party", hence the Pegasus costume.

Denali had a group of such good friends in Albuquerque.

Aren't these girls so cute!
