I am really behind on my blogs. I want to get caught up so I can blog more about day to day feelings, anecdotes and such. But for now, here's what I remember from April...
Easter!
We had a fun Easter doing the usual traditions.
We missed Lily, who was in Texas with Dell and Teresa's family, studying para-motor gliding.
This was her second time going with them to study the sport, and she was doing really well.
Here she is learning to kite.
She had fun with her cousins too.
She finally got to fly, by herself on their last day!
This is a very exited Lily... Her face as she was telling me about the experience.
Sophie and her friend, Alyse and cousin, Charlotte.
Playing "The Greatest Showman". Lion, acrobat & ring master
Sophie wrote the lyric's for the song "Un Poco Loco" all by herself. She was so proud when I told her she had written in spanish! For sounding out the words, she did a pretty good job.
Grandma Kay had a bad fall and was in the hospital with a neck brace for a while. The kids had fun visiting her and playing games with her.
Tom's been working 4/10's a lot, so he's home most Fridays. After visiting Grandma Kay, we went to the Church History Museum.
I was trying to show my super long eye lash, I usually don't like selfies.
We ended up getting a little spring snow storm in April. Typical Utah.
Lily was gone for almost three weeks in Texas. The day she drove home, Tom and his brother, Eric left for LA. They probably passed Lily as they drove south. The Find My iPhone app shows me in Salt Lake, Lily in American Fork & Tom near Payson.
Lily had missed seven days of school, and I didn't want her to miss any more. So after driving through the night, Lily and Teresa's family arrived at Teresa's house around 7am. Luckily, it was a Friday, so Lily had late start at school. I drove down and picked her up, then drove right to her school and dropped her off just before school started. She hadn't changed her clothes, or brushed her hair since the morning before, but she was a good sport to make it through the day. I was excited to see her again.
Meanwhile, Tom enjoyed the weekend with Eric, going to LA for Padres game and then a Dodgers game. They did some bike riding and boogie boarding too.
That night (Friday), the kids and I watched a movie. Lily's exhaustion finally hit her.
I can't remember why, but I ended up babysitting for Maren, and Tiffany all on the same night. Plus, Jeff had his friends, Cedar and Xander over. I cooked spaghetti and actually had a good time with the ten kids.
We love our monthly family dinners. Here's Grandpa Kent telling Sophie and Adair a story.
It was my Grandma Gwen's birthday! She is now 88 and such a wonderful lady. I really admire my grandma and the positive person she is.
Crazy Utah weather brought us a big windstorm. This is the second time we've found our trampoline wedged against the side of the house. It take a lot of wind to get it there though!
I had been using Invisalign trays to help straighten my bottom teeth. After only 22 weeks, I was quite happy with the results.
There were a lot of events for the youth leading up to the re-dedication of the Jordan River Temple. Jeff, Lily and I got to participate in most of them. One of them was an outdoor concert.
The crowds were ridiculous and Lily's social anxiety was getting the best of her. Here I am at the end of the line for the food trucks, which you cans see waaaay in the distance. Those that braved the lines took about two hours to get their food.
Instead of that, Lily, Jeff and I left the concert, went to the drive thru and were back in about 30 minutes.
It was fun running into so many people I know! My sister Aimee was also the Young Women's president in her ward, so she was there.
Tom's brother, Kurtis and his wife, Shara were there.
Lily's anxiety got the best of her and so she left early. But Jeff wanted to be right in the middle of the crowd, so he and I wandered all the way up to the stage. I'm more like Jeff when it comes to wanting to be in the crowd at things like this. We had a fun time and ended up being one of the last ones to leave.
Tom was out of town again, this time to Colorado with his high school buddies (his friend, Dustin was moving down there). So I took the kids to Chick-fil-a for dinner. However, when we sat down to eat, I realized I'd forgotten to order MY food!
After dinner, I dropped Jeff and Lily off at the theater to see the movie "A Quiet Place". Lily saw a double feature, staying at the theater afterwards to see "Truth or Dare" with some school friends.
Sophie threw a birthday party for her stuffed animal, Nala. Complete with presents,
singing,
and decorations!
I love catching moments like this... Tom, Lily and Jeff reading out of the "For the Strength of Youth" book and discussing the topics. I'm so lucky to have such an amazing husband! And such good kids!
My nephew, Tyler got married to his long-time girlfriend, Rilee! The ceremony at the Provo City Center temple was so good, and the reception was so fun!
Sophie got the student of the month award at school for self-honesty.
We took the older three to see Anegers: Infinity War. It left us all with our jaws dropped and heads scratching. We can't wait to see how part two plays out.
In April, we did our date night with Lily. We got Panda Express and went to a park to eat and talk. However, the weather got cold and windy, so we ended up eating quickly and then heading over to the church parking lot to let Lily practice driving.
Lily was in the newspaper! They were talking about teachers pay in our district, and used Lily's drama teacher for the photos. Lily just lucked out being the students sitting next to her and so she made it in a bunch of the pictures too!
Grandma Kay had her 90th birthday! Because of her fall, she is in a home now and I no longer help take care of her. I am sad to have lost that job. I appreciated the extra money, it gave us a chance to get to know Grandma Kay better, and it taught my children about patience and service.
