Maddie's Thanksgiving Program
Maddie recently performed in her first school program. She was a pilgrim, and her BFF Olivia was a turkey. They did an excellent job singing!

Meeting Taylor Swift - at Belk
Thursday night I heard (on the news) that Taylor Swift was going to be at the local Belk promoting her new perfume. My kids adore her, so I decided we would go and try to see her. I called the store early Friday morning to get details, and I learned that you had to purchase one of 300 packages on her website for a chance to meet her. Sold out, of course. The lady was kind enough to inform me of the exact time she was supposed to go down the escalator and we would be sure to see her.
When we arrived at the store, there was a crowd of people who had purchased the special package. There wasn't a single person near the escalator. I asked a very helpful lady where we could stand, and I learned that there was a "Magical" package for sale that allowed us to stand in a ridiculously long line with a chance to see her. So I bought it. The general manager of the store took one look at the line, then glanced at my small kids, and asked me to come with him. He took us upstairs and we were able to stand beside the press line. We were interviewed by Inside Edition and Brentwood News. We found 2 plexiglass jewelry stands for the kids to stand on, and we were the 1st people that Taylor saw when she came out (almost 2 hours after the time I was told)! She waved at Maddie and gave Preston a high five. I thought we were so excited until my sweet girls eyes filled with tears. She didn't get to give Taylor a hug or high five. She forgot to put her hand out the way Preston did. My heart just sank for her, but I tried to keep her excited just for the experience.
We were able to take pictures of the kids on Taylor's press line, and they loved posing for me.
I have to say thank you to Greg Smith, General Manager, for caring enough about complete strangers and helping us be in such a great spot! It was incredibly kind of him, especially on such a busy night!

Working the press line
Waving at Maddie! That is Maddie's tiny hand.
Pausing for the crowd
High fives! My camera snapped 2 seconds too late to get the pic of Taylor and Preston.
Working the press line like Taylor!
Spirit Week
Maddie Grace had spirit week at school. Each day she got to dress up as something different: favorite team, pajama day, wacky tacky day, and what I want to be when I grow up. She struggled with the last one because she wants to be a ballerina/cheerleader/rock star/doctor when she grows up. Friday all the kids wore their school t-shirts. I love that she is always willing to participate.

Mayfield
We took a field trip to Mayfield Dairy Farms. This was our first time going. The kids enjoyed learning how the milk gets bottled, but they especially loved eating a big scoop of ice cream!
Boo at the Zoo
I took the kids to visit my family for Fall Break. Our first stop was Boo at the Zoo! The kids wore costumes and got to trick-or-treat.
Preston starts Soccer
Our sweet boy is old enough to play soccer! He has really enjoyed himself. His friend Will is on the same team. Preston scored 2 goals at his first game. My parents were there with us, and you would have thought Preston had just won the Super Bowl. We were screaming and cheering so loudly!!
