Porter met his grandparents this week. My mom and dad spent the past week with us and were extremely helpful. Porter enjoyed getting spoiled with attention from grandma and grandpa. They will be back in March but I'm sure he will be so much bigger when they return. Porter's other grandparents will get to visit him in a month which he is very excited about! We had our two week pediatric appt and Porter is up to 8lb 3oz, well above his birth weight! He is eating much better and it shows with his weight. In other news, Porter spent his first night in his crib. Due to all of his "noises", such as coughs, sneezes, hiccups, whimpers, and loud breathing we could hardly sleep with him in our room. Not to mention that we were not sleeping much to begin with due to feedings every 2-3 hours. The first night went well until 3am. Porter's prime time is between about 3am - 6am when he is wide awake. I ended up staying up with him until he finally fell asleep again at 5am. We are working on keeping him more awake during the days so hopefully he will sleep more at night, wish us luck! I am reading a book called 'Babywise' which was recommended to work on infant sleeping and scheduling. I think anything is worth a shot.

One week old
Well, we survived the first week with a newborn. It's hard to believe how much our lives have changed in just one week. Porter continues to do well. He still sleeps his days away and likes to be awake in the middle of the night. Both the jaundice and the feeding are improving which were the biggest concerns since we got home from the hospital. He had his first appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and he has almost regained his birth weight already. His favorite time is snuggling after feeding. His least favorite activities are bathtime and diaper changes. He has a wipe warmer on his wishlist already!

Just because he is so cute!
Our first few days at home are going well. He sleeps all day and parties all night, typical
newborn! He was a little jaundice so we have been checking his bilirubin level each day and it is starting to go down today which is good. He likes trying on all of his new outfits, I think the cow outfit is my favorite so far! We have yet to master the diaper changing. He typically urinates all over himself during each change. Today we were surprised that his stool can spray four feet across the room, staining the carpet in twenty different spots. Trevor is picking up carpet cleaner tonight since the wet vacuum, Shout, and spot cleaner did not work! Tomorrow is his first appointment with the pediatrician. Everyone has told me that the days fly by with newborns and you do not know what happens to the time. I did not really believe them until now. We had our first visitors from my friends today who brought us up dinner. It will be so fun to introduce Porter to our friends and family.
