San Juan del Sur
Trevor and I had a wonderful week in Nicaragua. It felt luxurious to sleep in, relax, read (two books!), surf, enjoy late dinners and watch movies or hangout at the restaurant bar in the evenings. Nicaragua is a beautiful country and San Juan del Sur is a very charming town. It was amazingly cheap and the food was great! I think I ate seafood two daily! The surfing was more challenging since it was fast but Trevor really loved it! We spent several days at Playa Hermosa which is where Survivor Nicaragua was filmed. You can see pictures of the beach below where Trevor is standing with the surboard. Our adventure surf retreat was perfect. We had a cute bungalow and the bar, restaurant and pool were very fun and relaxing. It was fun to meet others who were staying there as well. The trip was far -- it took 15 hours from door to door. I'm glad we did not take Porter, I think it would have been a disaster and Trevor and I enjoyed are time together. We missed our little guy but he did great at home with my parents. Due to the distance and the tough surfing, we probably will stick to closer beach destinations but I loved the country and hope to return someday!
