Lil' Trooper

Image
There is a reason why I call Tomas J my 'diabloito'. (little devil). He has no fear and thinks he can do everything his sister can and then some. In August he tried to fly off a playset near our house. It really wasnt very high but he must of landed weird which then landed us in the emergency room with a hairline fracture to his tibia. He wasnt able to walk on his own for a few weeks which did not make him a happy camper. ....It was a very long few weeks... Really he was my little trooper and a good boy. But once he started walking he was right back to trying to climb and jump as well... the next few weeks were really long as well, trying to keep him from hurting himself further..:) I really wanted his cast to come off the first time around.. We finally got it off at the end of September. He walked a little gimpy at first but has finally gotten back to normal.... well really close anyway:)

Image When you only post once or twice a year you tend to get a little backed up. I had a lot of blog worthy stuff. Just never found the time to blog it. :) So strap yourself in cuz I'm going all the way back to April. That is when we put Isabela in T-ball. She really liked practicing in the back yard, but real practices and games with all the people and extra noise took a little getting used to.

Another stop along our time travel is fishing with grandpa at Grantsville dam. Isabela caught four fish. Which Tomas cooked up and made a nice dinner. I am so not fond of chopping off heads and scooping out guts....

Then there were the trips to the Gateway Mall to play in the fountain. This is Isabelas little buddy Caden College

and the slpash park in Alpine

hiking up the mountains near our house. Even Tomas J with his little cast. When we were near the top Isabela got really excited and said "Mom! I can see Puerto Rico!" ..... don't I wish that were true!

I wanted to share our Barn Yard Boo and Hee Haw adventures, but had too many photos so hadd to make it into a slide again. Grandma Reyes took us to the Barn Yard Boo. The kids usually dress up for this. We borrowed a costume for Tomas J since we didnt have one yet. He's not actually going to be superman even though I thought it was adorable. (But then he's mine.. of course I think my kids are adorable!) However Isabela decided she didnt want hers anymore as soon as we got there. Go figure. We still had lots of fun. Tomas was so excited to ride the ponies. He liked feeding the animals but he kept going back to the ponies. Isabela always loves the ponies but she finally got her face painted. Been to loads of events with face painting and she's never wanted it til now. It was such a nice warm day too... Thanks G-ma!

Then our friends invited us to go to Hee Haws. Tomas -no fear -J wanted to go down the big slide by himself right away, but it took mommy a few times b4 she was convinced that was okay. They rode the animal train, petted all sorts of animals - Tomas loved the goats until one butted him and knocked him down. Isabela was a fan of the little pigs, also played in the corn box and just generally ran amuck and had a great time. We will actually be going back for the trick or treat hay ride and pumpkin drop where they drop enormous pumpkins on a car and smash it to smitherines.... Gotta love farm country! :)

More Halloween

Image searching for the hallows ... of course you have to use
the appropriate basket ..uh bucket

I thought I had this fabulous idea... I'll paint some Easter eggs black, turn them into spiders, cats and bats and hide them around the house. (I made 2 of each.) With or without treats in them..whatever. It turned out ... ok. Isabela loved it. She is always diggin out the Easter eggs and wanting to 'play Easter'. The problem was in my painting. You have to use that plastic paint. You cant just use craft paint and figure it'll be just fine. I just looked at the egg and the paint chipped off so when I attached wings and legs etc.. I really started having problems. It worked enough to hide them and have them found once then I just scrapped 'em. The kids did love it, but my intention was to be able to hide them numerous times. Oh well. We did make the egg carton people and that turned out really well. They both had fun.

Already missing you...

Summer you came so late and then dissappeared in a day. Dont get me wong Fall, I love you too. However, I was not ready to say goodbye to shorts and flip flops and reading books in the warm sunshine. Oh well. Until next time... here are just a few our highlights of the summer.

Halloween Time!

I am blogging again! It has only been 10 months. AND I fixed my
wall-paper/background/whatever! Gimme a minute while I pat myself on the back. Heehee. This may not be... OK OK... This is not a huge accomplishment for pretty much anybody else, but for me it is almost monumental. :).
So it is October which means HALLOWEEN. Now contrary to popular opinion it is not my favorite holiday though I do like it alot. This year the kidzies and I have been workin on a few crafts. Our first was Playdough Ghosts. We made homemade playdough - my first time making playdough. I thing I added a little to much water because our ghosts weren't very firm and had a hard time standing up while they cooked. You just mold your white playdough then cook in the microwave at 30 second intervals until firm. Then draw on the face. (There was also some pretty cool spooky trees with this craft but I didnt have any paper bags.) Image

Next was the Tea light Pumpkins. You take an old babyfood jar and modge podge torn pieces of tissue paper onto the jar. Let it dry then draw on the face with a marker. Put a tea candle in the jar and wah-lah! We were also going to make ghosts as well, but I didnt have anymore babyfood jars.

Coming up is egg carton pumkin man and last years favorite, (which lasted as a decoration until Christmas) milk carton monsters. Hopefully I can get some pics of the kids actually making these things. It gets kind of tricky when paint and glue and permanent markers are thrown into the mix with a devious little one year old. (I get most of these crafts from www.familyfun.com or www.amazingmoms.com)

Christmas 2009

Image
ImageRight from the start 2009 was quite a year for us. We were way excited and blessed to add a little boy to our family. Tomas Daniel Reyes JR. decided he couldnt wait any longer any made his appearance, a week early, on January 6th. Also know as Three Kings Day.
In April we had the chance to travel to Puerto Rico to visit Grandma and Grandpa Reyes on their mission. They were really excited to have a visit and especially to see our newest family member.
Image

In August, along with a friend of his, Tomas bought a new business. We became the new owners of Jumpin Jacks Kids. An inflatable bounce house with three locations in West Jordan, Springville and St. George. Tomas was very busy between it, Natures Way and The Level Colletion. Even though he is still busy, in November he was able to leave Natures Way and focus more of his time on Jumpin Jacks.

In September we took a family vacation and spent a week in Disneyland. A little exhausting running around with the kids, but definately worth it. Even though Tomas J was still too small too enjoy it we were able to take him on quite a few rides with us and Isabela loved it.Image

We also celabrated Nylia and Marks' wedding. Which was beatiful. Next thing we knew the holidays were upon us. Shopping, sledding, family parties, shopping, making treats, hot cocoa, oh yeah and more shopping. Even though he wasnt to sure what was going on and wanted to know why his toys kept getting taken away after he finally unwrapped them, it was really fun to celebrate Tomas Js first Christmas. He just wanted to keep playing with each toy that he opened so we had to help him a little to finish his gifts before the new year rolled around!
Isabela is at that perfect age that when a commercial comes on .. any and all commercials...she'd say. "I want that for christmas." She is also at a good age to understand what is going on and get really excited about everything. Which just maImagekes it all the more exciting as parents. She let us know that Santa did not want cookies for Christmas, but apple pie. So we had to make apple pie and leave a slice out for him on Christmas eve. Well she didnt get everything from every commercial she saw but we still had a very fun Christmas and enjoyed spending extra time with family and friends.

Nylia's Wedding

ImageImage
We were really happy to add a new member to the Reyes side of the family in November. Nylia was married to Mark Larson in the Provo temple. They amazingly put it together in under two months and it was beautiful! ImageThe nieces all had matching dresses while all the sisters were in purple. All the boys and men were in matching ties. Everyone looked great. Nylia of course was the star and made an absolutely beautiful bride.

Mom and Dad Reyes were even able to take a few days from their mission to come see them sealed. They are doing great work in Puerto Rico for their mission, but it was fun to have them home again even for just a few days. We miss them and cant wait for them to come home for good in March.

Marcos and Lena and their familes were able to travel to Utah for the celebration as well. It was so great to be able to see them all. It's always exciting to have the whole family together. Isabela was preImagetty upset when they all had to leave. She wanted them to come back "next week". We had to explain they live far away and wont be able to see them for awhile. It was a little sad, but nice to know she has so much fun with her cousins.

Mark is a great addition and we are so happy for them!Image
