Royer Park Library Party

We had fun at the library party this morning, to celebrate the end of the summer reading program. Elsa and Anna did face painting, the kids picked out rubber ducks or Eric Carle tattoos, listened to stories, played with bubbles and watched a multicultural music show. Emma volunteered to play a steel drum. Abby was super lucky. She was picked as one of the best maraca dancers and earned a cd. During the River Cats (they are the minor league team here) ticket drawing her name was called again! Five lawn seats for Monday's game.

Jason Bourne

Ross introduced me to the first Jason Bourne movie seven years ago on Halloween night. After seeing it I wanted to know what happened and I was hooked. When we finished the trilogy I thought it would be cool to see a sequel in the theater. It happened last night! We used a restaurant.com coupon to try gourmet hot dogs at Umai (Ross has Tokyo dog with grilled seaweed and I had Honolulu Bang Bang with onions, bacon and pineapple), ate fast, got to the theater and sat further back then closer, which was a good choice. Lots of action! We actually both wore maroon shirts, not on purpose. Must have been on the same wavelength!

Spagettios and Stuffed Animal Albun

Yesterday afternoon we picked up stuffed animals, the girls made photo albums from pictures taken at the animal sleepover (I'm sure the librarians had fun staging those pictures!), and Jill ate most of the can of Spaghettios.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

On Wednesday I dropped Allen off with Ross (so he could take him to his doctor appointment to get his ear re-checked) and I took the girls their 3rd gymnastics class. (Next week is the last one). Ross dropped Allen off when they were done. Then I took the kids to the library for the Stuffed Animal Sleepover event. (They actually labels the animals and you left them there for overnight. They said they would take pictures of all the fun your animals had and the next afternoon you could come pick up the photo album.) Then we came home for dinner and Ross left to go home-teach. We changed into suits and headed over to the free family swim night at the city pool. On our way to the pool it was 109 degrees. It was 112 after gymnastics. At 9pm it was still 98 degrees. Feels like Texas. More humid than the dry climate here should be.

Schoolwork Sort

Today we spent time cleaning out our schoolwork boxes. The kids recycled most of it. Empty boxes await the new school year in a few weeks.

Light Saber Noodles

I took the kids to a Star Wars craft party at the library (they made light sabers from noodles, light sabers with long pretzels and frosting, TIE fighters from graham crackers and a big marshmallow), visited the girls' Animal Hospital (which takes place in the twins' closet--stuffed animals are being taken care of and have little beds and Abby and Jane are nurses) and then had Young Women last night where the Mia Maids played Telestrations and the "What If?" game and the Beehives played pudding Pictionary using words and phrases from this month's lessons. I had no laurels so I spent the time copying things in the library and popped in both activities to take pictures. Ross jogged over with the girls (and Abby rode her bike) to bring me the newsletter he had printed off and I had forgotten to get from him.
