Summer At Last

Image

This has been the most beautiful year for Idaho. All of that rain has made for more green and more blue skies. Also, the Snake River has been raging. There are spots along the Green Belt where you can see the river roil and the Temple sits majestically as a back drop. WOW! It is fantastic.

Catch up: We recently had a graduation BBQ for Cavron, Cammeron & Dustin. Brent is into the farming season. Casey is still in Okinawa. The lastest is that he will go to Korea for training instead of Hawaii. He is still going to Afghanistan in Oct. However, the military has a reputation for never telling it straight. Jess is coming for a visit this month while Jolene visits her family in Alaska. Jolene completed a triathelon earlier this month in Arizona--came in first for her age group!!!! The grandkiddies are just awesome!!!

Concert time

Given my age and the fact that the Beatles are no longer available for concerts, I recently bought tickets to see John Tesh (instead of Nora Jones--actually I kind of like her). It turned out to be worth the price of admission. He used to be a regular on Entertainment Tonight but gave it up and now goes on concert tours where he plays the piano, keyboard etc. in between dances and songs by other members of the cast. The emcee for the concert was quite a comic andImage during the show he threw T-shirts out into the audience that had been signed by the performers. Well, lo-and-behold, at one point I looked up and there was a shirt sailing in my direction. I stuck my hand up in front of the face of my seat neighbor and the shirt landed right in my hand. I saved that guy from serious injury to his face (the shirts were tied in knots so they would go further) I'm sure. Anyway, that shirt was meant to be mine. I was impressed with John Tess. He talked about prayer at one point and about a project that his family had done for Christmas. They had bought 1000 roses and taken them around to nursing homes, passed them out, and visited with the clients. He said that that kind of service had become the ministry of his family. He challenged the audience to start their own ministries. He actually handed out 5 envelopes, each with $100 in it to people who wanted to start their own ministry. So, anyway, I enjoyed the whole program. And hey, I didn't win a T-shirt at "The Three Redneck Tenors" concert.

SPRING

SPRING SONG

Listen, buds, it's March twenty-first;
Don't you know enough to burst?
Come on, birds, unlock your throats!
Come on, gardeners, shed your coats!
Come on, Zephyrs, come on flowers,
Come on, grass, and violet showers!
And come, on, lambs in frisking flocks!
Salute the vernal equinox!
Twang the cheerful lute and zither!
Spring is absolutely hither!
Yester eve was dark despair,
With winter, winter, everywhere;
Today, upon the other hand,
'Tis Spring throughout this happy land.
Oh, such is Nature's chiaroscuro,
According to the Weather Bureau.
What though the blasts of Winter sting?
Officially, at least, it's Spring?
.......................

A song of sunshine through the rain
Of Spring across the snow;
A balm to heal the hurts of pain,
A peace surpassing woe.
Lift up your heads ye sorrowing ones,
And be ye glad at heart,
For Calvary and Easter Day,
Earth's saddest day and gladdest day,
Were just three days apart!!!
...........................

I hope your Spring is going well. It is nice in Idaho Falls in spite of some super big fluffy snow flakes today.
Cav is job hunting-we're so hoping he will find something in IF. He and Cam will graduate in May.
Jana is doing some Case Management now--says she likes it. Sequoya and Nory are enjoying their violin lessons. Dustin is still working down at ISU.
Brent is gearing up for the farming season.
Casey was supposed to leave for Okinawa today but we have not heard whether he did or not.
Jess & Jolene have been working on their new home.

Me, well, I'm looking forward to the upcoming trip and planting a few flowers and hopefully getting some scrapbooking done.

Here I am--my first post!!!
In spite of that, I'm not sure I have any real news! So this will be a catch up.

About me: I'm still working at Behavioral Health Center. Thank goodness I like my job and the people I work with. I work on the Pediatric/Adolescent Unit and it can be pretty exciting! BHC is actually part of the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (the main hospital) so we are able to keep up with what is going on in the medical community. I am an avid proponent of water aerobics which is one of my main hobbies. I still love to cross-stitch too.

Cavron and Cammeron are both graduating in May. They are already worried about where they will find jobs. They both really want to work in Europe but there are a lot of considerations. Emily is 11 yo. and really into sports. Reagan will turn 8 in may. She is tall for her age and has the most beautiful hair. Elam has really been into the Ninja Turtles, complete with a collection of figures and demonstrations of ninja moves. Owen is a total live wire. They are soooo fun.

Dustin graduated from ISU in Dec. Jana is still doing PSR work. They have really enjoyed their home in Shelley. Sequoya is in her last year of elementary school and anxious to move on. She has come over to try cooking the past 3 Fridays. She chose to cook Macaroni and Cheese so I made her learn how to make the real stuff. She did a good job. Nory is growing tall and handsome. He is still very busy!!

Brent has had a busy year what with the electrical business and farming. Terresa is enjoying her new baby Jonah Shenstrom. Remmy and Jayson are enjoying school. Liam is such a little man. Liam is a thin, blond boy and baby Jonah is quite a chunk so they make quite the pair. They are all so cute.

Casey is at Camp Pendleton in California, training to be a medic in the Navy. He is actually working with the Marines right now. The plans are for him to go to Japan in March. He says he loves it and has actually been in charge of 200 men.

Jess and Jolene just brought their first home in Rio Rancho, a suburb of Albuquerque. They say they love it. Jolene is still going to college and is a great student.

Anyway, we are all well and enjoying life. I hope everyone out there is well and happy!!!!

Much love, Turley
