October 20 - K's View

We got up and ate biscuits and bacon. YUM!

We left and went shopping for a mask. Like a masquerade mask. It was so hard to deside! I would make up my mind, and then see another one, compare the two and decide, and then the process would start all over again!  I finally decided on a pinkish red one.

WE left and drove to old town Fredericksburg. We spent the day window shopping and antique shopping. I thought it was pretty fun. I didn’t buy anything, but that may be a good thing!  We also went to an old bookstore. There were a TON of books.  There were old ones, new, ones evens ones in foreign languages.   We saw and old cemetery where “the founder of Fredericksburg sleeps.  We had to be very quiet so we did not wake them!   I thought it was rather funny.  It was kind of rainy all day, but it wasn’t too cold.  The weather was pretty good. The cool weather it such a relief from the hot weather in San Antonio.

Once we got home we went to bed almost immediately. WE had to pack for tomorrow, but otherwise we went straight to bed.  We knew that the next couple days would be long and tiring.  I can’t wait to share them with you.

East Coast Road Trip: Day 9

We got up rather early this morning so we could drop the van off at the shop, after doing this we drove over to a cute little store called Fancy Q’s. Our friends had given us gift cards so that we could go there and get some masks. I had a ton of fun picking out what mask I wanted, Pictures to come later.

After having a TON of fun and Fancy Q’s we headed over to Old Town Fredericksburg. There are a bunch of little shops all up and down the streets there and we had even more fun going from shop to shop.

We were able to pick up the van from the shop that evening and then we went to bed early with the alarm set for 3:00 am for the next morning, NYC here we come!!

October 19 - K's view

We woke up at the Mervin’s.  I can’t believe that we are actually here!
We ate cake for breakfast.  Lizzy was so kind.  She made us a Phantom of the Opera cake for our birthday.  It was so cool.  We came in they turned on “the Phantom if the Opera, and we went into their dining room, they even had a smoke machine!

We went to Drama with them. We were able to sit around and listen to their play that they are practicing.  We won’t be able to see the play in person because we are leaving before then, but we were able to see a practice run.

Image

During Drama practice Mamma, Mrs. Mervin and Denielle took the van to the shop to be fixed. (It was showing the “service engine” light) and while we were waiting we got to play a fun game.  We had five minutes to make a skit and practice it.  Ours had to be about ninjas on a tropical island.  We didn’t do very well.

One we got “home” we went upstairs and did voice overs. You upload a movie clip, mute the sound and then adlib your own. It was really fun and we got some really funny ones.

We went to bed about 12:00. We had a hard time sleeping because we wanted to stay up and talk, but we eventually crashed.

East Coast Road Trip: Day 8

Today we woke and went upstairs in anticipation of what the day held. We decided to eat our cake for breakfast, it was REALLY yummy!!!!!! After eating cake we got ready and left to go to drama with our friends. I say around and watched them rehearse, they are really great actors!

We left drama and took our van to the shop because the check engine light had popped on. Someone had recommended a really great mechanic for us to go to. We went back home and went to bed early so we could drop the van off early the next morning.

October 18- K's View.

I don’t have a whole lot to write about today. We drove through the Blue Ridge Mountains and then Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive. The colors and views were breath taking!
I said yesterday I would try to get a sunrise today, well I got one.

I love how it looks like this it a volcano.

East Coast Road Trip: Day 7

Today I discovered that 5:00 am is WAY too early to get up when you’re on vacation. After waking up we ate breakfast and headed out to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was an AMAZING drive! There where trees everywhere that were changing colors and carpeting the earth in leaves. It took us about five hours to get through that and then we headed over to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.

I was amazed at the views that we were able to see. We were also able to see some of the native wildlife.
Image

We got about half way through Skyline when we headed over to our friends, The Mervin’s house.  When we arrived they gave us the best surprise ever! They had made us a Phantom of the Opera cake and decorated their dining room all Phantom of the Opera like. We finally got to sleep at about 1:00 in the morning. We are having SO MUCH FUN!!!!

October 17- K's View.

We woke up this morning to a beautiful C-C-C-Cold day. We packed all of our things, while trying not to wake the neighbors, and we left.  We got to see a beautiful sunrise over the mountain. Unfortunately I did not get picture. (Maybe next sunrise.)
Image

We mostly drove all day. It would be boring if it were not SOOOO beautiful outside. We stopped at a couple of scenic outlooks, where I got these pictures.

We also stopped at a visitor’s center where I lost out phone!  Praise the Lord that we found it was missing and we were able to turn around before it was too late! Hey, that’s what makes trips interesting, right!?!

We drove some more……and more…..more. : P

Near the end of the day we entered Virginia. The Ladies at the visitors center there were awesome!

They were so sweet, and kind. They even gave D__ and Me a Virginia pin and bumper sticker.

We stayed in Roanoke last night. We got to the hotel a little early, so it was nice to relax for a little bit.  When we got there we found this little rubber ducky on the tub.  How cute is that!?!

Image

With us now being in Virginia the trip is finally sinking in. I know it’s weird, we’ve been on it for a week and I just now think it’s more than a dream. I have had such an amazing time, I wish that I could let all of you feel the same way I do now.

East Coast Road Trip: Day 6

40 degrees outside and loving it, of course, being a Texas girl my cold tolerance is pretty wimpy and I had to go but some warm fuzzy boots but that’s okay!  We were able to witness something pretty cool! There were people hot air ballooning up in the colorful mountains and, as you can see, they made pretty good pictures. That was about the most eventful thing all day, except for when we left the cell phone in the bathroom, but overall it was a really relaxing day. Here are some pictures from today! J

October 16- K's View.

As we were packing up to leave our hotel, we met a Belgian man who got to talking to us. This was one of many trips he has taken to America.  He was so nice. He gave us his ice chest that he was just going to throw out. It even had food in it still!
We left our hotel in Atlanta to head downtown to the capitol. We found out that there really was a city that had driver’s worse that San Antonio, and that’s saying something!
We got down to the capitol and saw some security guards/ policemen there. Ok. We hear that there was something going on down there, but we didn’t know what. There was a protest going on! Well, no pictures at the Atlanta capitol then. We tried to get a few pictures, but it was very hard with all of the people.
Image

Image

We left the capitol and got stopped at a red light and saw a policeman on a motorcycle leading a group of limousines.  In one of them, there was a French official of some sort, being escorted by the police and followed by his posse.

We left Atlanta and started driving through Georgia to get to North Carolina. The colors were BEAUTIFUL! They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I’m taking 600-1200 pictures a day. How many words is that?

Image

After looking at different scenic lookouts, (and a gas station that sold live fish for bait,) we came to an adorable town called Elijay. It was so cute! I just wanted to pack up and move there! It was pretty busy because they were having an apple festival.   Thee streets were packed, so Mamma decided that we would go back-roading. We went down a very steep hill, IN OUR VAN! Out van is old, our van does not like hills. I DON’T THINK THIS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!! Hehe, hey this is kind of fun!
Image

Image

I loved this old bridge.  I wish I knew more about it!

Image

Look twice, save a life. I think we all know someone who was killed, or seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

Image

We saw this beautiful creek and had to stop. This was the first place that we had to use our sweaters…… I LOVE the cold weather!

Image

Image

We spent the night in Bryson City, in a little motel. They were having a small music festival that we walked around at. I got the BEST homemade apple cider and I also got a new pocket knife!
Image

The Great Smokey Mountains were stunning. I have had SOO much fun so far! I wish I could relive it any time I wished. I am truly blessed to be sharing this with my wonderful Mamma and sister.
