Remembering Ma

Wednesday would have been my grandmother’s 75th birthday.  My grandfather made his first cake ever!  It was a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing.  He invited us all to stop by whenever we could on Wednesday.  I think it was good for him to be surrounded by family that day since this is the first birthday without her.  The kids loved the cake!  Please continue to pray for my mom, Pa, and the rest of our family as we still grieve the loss of this special lady! (Aren’t the flowers he put on her grave beautiful?) 🙂 Image

The last of the color days…On Tuesday, it was purple day.  Charlie took a purple foam ‘3’ and Anna Claire took a purple pony book.  We had purple grapes with our breakfast this day.  Thursday was black/brown/white day.  They wore their black USC shirts…AC took a black spatula and Charlie took a black paint brush.  They have had so much fun with color days show and tell.  Next is shapes!Image

Pink and Orange Days

Week three at school was great for the kids.  They had pink and orange days.  Charlie took a pink icecream cone for ‘show and tell.’  He wore a red shirt with a sticker that said “pink day” and some pink heart stickers.  (he had NOTHING in his closet with pink on it…not even a stripe on a polo.)  I think he looks pretty cute!Image  Anna Claire woke up Tuesday with a fever so she had to stay home and miss pink day.  She was DEVASTATED!  Seriously…she cried forever!  But, Mommy tried to make the day fun.  🙂 We painted our fingernails pink, dressed in pink, ate strawberry yogurt, did a pink craft and more!  I think she had a good time. 🙂Image

Here they are on Orange Day.  We had to really search to find something orange to wear  (we don’t own too much of that color!)  Charlie brought an orange crab magnet and Anna Claire took an orange for ‘show and tell.”Image
They are really starting to play better independently.  We set up some toys outside and they love playing out there on these beautiful days.  🙂  One day they collected leaves and their Daddy showed them out to put them under a paper and color over them and they could see the outline of the leaf!  Devin also built a new shelf in the garage for their toys.  Charlie wanted to help!Image

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Wednesday was talk like a pirate day.  The kids played around the house while I finished sewing cornhole bags.Image  Then we headed to Krispy Kreme to get a free donut! 🙂 They had to talk like a pirate to get it and they loved that!Image

The other week Aunt Caity and Uncle Chadd bought a new house so cousin Parker came to play for a while.  We love this little girl!ImageImage

Speaking of cousins…Anna Claire and Charlie can’t wait to play with their other cousin Gracie when she comes to visit soon!

AWANA 2012

AWANA has begun at church and Anna Claire and Charlie are having a great time!  They are “Cubbies” this year.  Don’t they look cute in their blue vests?Image  One aspect of AWANA is scripture memorization.  The first verse they memorized this year was “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.” Genesis 1:1.  We were playing outside the other day and they started talking about the clouds which lead to us discussing all that God made.  I took their picture with the clouds because it was such a beautiful day and a great time of learning with our kiddos. 🙂 Image

On a different note, here they are with their friend Nathan at Monkey Joes.  They sure do love bouncing!Image

I love being Mommy…

…because I get to spend almost all of my time with these two little ones!Image We get to play together and learn together…laugh together and cry together….here we are just soaking up some of the beautiful sunshine last week.Image  Here are our little scholars on their way to preschool on blue day (notice we had blueberry waffles and blueberry yogurt for breakfast) and green day(we had apple jacks and apple juice in green boxes).Image On blue day Charlie took a blue wrench and Anna Claire took her favorite book, “A Happy Home.”  On green day Charlie took a little green alligator and Anna Claire took a little green baby doll spoon.  🙂 ImageSaturday we celebrated Aunt Spencer’s birthday at Uncle Chadd & Aunt Caity’s new house. 🙂  (Check out Charlie sneaking some icing!) Image Here are some pictures from the 4th of July I never posted.  We had a great time at the Peach Festival parade with Granny, Papa, Aunt Melanie, and the Broadwells. Image The kids loved watching the parade, eating peach icecream, and dancing on the stage.  That evening we had dinner at my parents house and shot fireworks. Image Such a fun day celebrating our independence! 🙂Image
