Our sweet 3 week old baby boy who barely fit in his daddy’s hand sure was a fighter…
And he is growing into a handsome, strong little boy…(whose foot is as big as his momma’s hand!)
He loves superheros, reading books, baseball, golf, tennis, wrestling, spaghetti, apple juice…he loves his sister, crosses his toes like his daddy (I think they are in cahoots to bother momma!) 🙂 He loves his lovey, ninja turtles, watching “Wild Krats” (a show about animals), and the kiddo can fall asleep like no other! He has a contagious smile and this momma and daddy sure do love their buddy bear!!

Mountain Trip with the Hensons
Last week we took a four day trip to the mountains of NC. Check out some of our fun adventures…
Thursday we headed out with Nana, Grandpa, Aunt Caity, Uncle Chadd, and Parker. Anna Claire and Charlie played games on the iPads, read books, and napped. We stopped for lunch then finished the trip. Check out the view and the cabin!! It was beautiful. 🙂 We spent that evening at the cabin…coloring with chalk, blowing bubbles, playing pool, throwing frisbees, eating, drinking hot chocolate, and watching a movie.
The next day we headed to Lake Junaluska. We saw some ducks then headed out on the paddle boats. Let’s just say that was quite the experience…whew! Next we played putt putt, then tennis, then shuffle board. We headed back to the cabin for lunch and quiet time. We then went downtown Waynesville for a little shopping and dinner at this neat little pizza place. 🙂 When we got back to the cabin, Aunt Spencer and Mr. Brandon were there.

Saturday we packed up and headed to Cherokee. We first went panning for gold/gem stones. Then we watched some full blooded Cherokee Indians do some traditional dances. Pretty neat! Then we all went to lunch. After lunch, Devin and I took our kiddos to the Oconaluftee Indian village. It was so neat. They got to see how they made canoes, fabric, beaded things, pottery, weapons, baskets…we also saw a reenactment of a council meeting and replicas of houses. Charlie got an arrow head made by the man in the picture below and AC got a sweet little Indian doll. 🙂 We headed back to the cabin and all hung out there for dinner, games, and more.

The next morning we ate breakfast, played a few games, packed up and started the trip home. We stopped at a mall in Spartanburg and our kiddos loved jumping. We also stopped to eat at Cracker Barrell…because…that’s just what we do heading back from vacation. 🙂

We had a wonderful time and are thankful for this time with family!
Baby Girl
Our sweet little baby holding her Daddy’s hand…
Sure is growing into a beautiful little girl!
She loves painting, coloring, reading, stuffed animals, ‘cooking’, having pretend picnics, hearing stories about family (over and over)…she has a sweet tooth and is pretty set in her ways…she seriously won’t look at the camera(unless she can see herself like in the pics above…drives this momma crazy!), she loves her brother, likes to ride her tricycle, likes milk, would rather snack than eat meals…she’s independent and sensitive. I could go on and on…but one thing’s for sure…Daddy loves his “Sugar Bear” and Mommy loves her “Sassafras!” 🙂
Slow Down
I read an article that a few of my friends ‘shared’ on Facebook. [You can read it here. ] Let me tell you….it REALLY hit home. It sounded like something I would have written about this sweet princess:Â
She’s the child that stops to pick the dandelion or talks about the shapes of the clouds or wants me to tell her the same story 500 times. I am seriously going to take this as a challenge. I know that there will still be times that I want her to kick it in to high gear, but if it is at all possible, I’m going to stop rushing her. I mean really, if she decides Kitty needs to come with us instead of Princess Music Bunny, then by all means let’s run, I mean walk, back inside and get Kitty before we head to the grocery store.
Now on a different note…this kid is on the go 24/7.Â
My sword fighting, superhero lovin’, sports playing, boy. (Unless he is snuggling at night watching cartoons with mommy. 🙂 )
Thank you Lord for these blessings!
Summer Adventures – Weeks 6 and 7
Week 6 of our summer was mostly spent at the beach, which I blogged about earlier. However I can’t miss that they also had a fun picnic playdate at the park with Caroline, Sarah Ann, and Reece.
We also celebrated Aunt Melanie’s 18th birthday. 🙂
Week 7 – our theme was seasons. Monday was a pretty low key day. (We were recovering from a fun time at the beach!) We went to storytime at the library, grabbed a few things at the grocery store, then headed home until it was time for AC to go to gymnastics. While we were gone, the boys headed out for a little tball practice and dinner. When we got home AC painted a little. She is quite the artist. 🙂

On Tuesday we talked about winter. The kids played in shaving creme snow. We pretended it was Christmas in July and we dressed in scarves and opened little presents. We then snuggled on the couch and watched a movie and that night drank hot chocolate before bed.
Wednesday we talked about Spring. We began the morning at church for “Water Wednesday.” This was one of those rainy days so we had to have our spring picnic inside. We also spent this day reviewing the days of the week and months of the year.
Thursday we talked about summer. We headed to Isle of Palms with Granny, Papa, and Aunt Melanie. We had a great day playing in the ocean, building sand castles, seeing a shark, having a picnic, and then walking around the market and eating a HUGE pizza at this new little place we found. 🙂

Friday we talked about fall. We drew a fire on paper and “roasted” marshmallows and had apples for snack.
Saturday was a yard day and Sunday we went to church then went to play golf as a family.Â
It was another fun week! 🙂
