This summer we did lots of yummy things! We picked blueberries with friends.
We had a lemonade stand in our neighborhood with Sarah Ann and Reece.
We had our fair share of Kona Ice. 🙂
One day we had lunch with Parker, Aunt Caity, and Grandpa. All the kids shared an orange slush and they said it was yummy!
One of Daddy and the kids’ favorite sweet treats over the summer is peach milkshakes.
We baked some too! Here they are helping me make rice krispy treats.
Whenever Daddy goes to the grocery store with us, we somehow end up with more things than were on our list! (and yes she’s wearing her Snow White dress at the store.)
These next pictures are from back in the spring. I found them and couldn’t pass up posting them. Devin took the kids to EdVenture one day and they got to get their faces painted and got to see some live snakes! Crazy!!
Fun times!! 🙂
Yum!
Summer Camp
This summer, Anna Claire and Charlie each got to go to a one week summer camp. Charlie chose zoo camp and Anna Claire chose art camp. Charlie’s camp was first. The theme was “Fur, Feather, Scales, and Shells.” He had so much fun learning about mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and more! He had to wear his camp shirt each day and bring a snack. They got to do several behind the scenes tours and crafts too. We definitely call him our “little scientist.” 🙂
While he was at camp, Anna Claire and I had fun mommy/daughter time. We went to breakfast with my friend Angie (she even got icecream after breakfast!), went to the library, shopping, crafting, cookie baking, helping with chores(she wanted to!), and more! We even spent the morning at the zoo one day while Charlie was at camp. We spotted him one time during the day which was super exciting!
Anna Claire’s camp was a few weeks later. She took a painting class. She painted with water colors, regular paint, on paper, and canvas. My favorite piece is the peacock! She amazes me at how focused and talented she is with her artwork. 🙂
While she was at camp, Charlie and I had fun mommy/son time. We had breakfast together, went to the library, had a playdate with his friend Brady, went to a “Frozen” themed storytime at Chick-fil-A where he made a marshmallow Olaf, and more!
Summer camp this summer was definitely a success!
Fruit of the Spirit
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
This has been our theme verse for the summer. Anna Claire and Charlie have memorized it and every week we talked about a different fruit of the spirit. On Wednesdays, we met with a group of other moms and preschoolers at our church for snacks, Bible stories, songs, crafts, and playtime. It was so neat to hear all these little ones singing the fruit of the Spirit song. Here are some pictures of our fun!

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11
Work Hard, Play Hard
Devin has always told the kids that in our family, we will work hard and play hard. I kind of like this mindset. 🙂 Well, last week Devin was at a conference for work. It was a busy week for him and to top it all off, he had a terrible time getting home with delayed and cancelled flights. Long story short, he finally got in to Charlotte late at night and spent the night at his Granny’s house. The kids and I got up early Friday morning to go get him. We decided to make the best out of a frustrating situation and visit some with Granny (Devin cut her grass while we played) then take them to Discovery Place. It was so much fun. We got to build towers,
ride in air chairs, climb ropes,
lay on a bed of nails, move a robot arm,
see robots/aliens, experiment with force and building things,
visit a rainforest area,
play with water, lights, music, and building materials,
dig for shark teeth, pet animals, watch IMAX and 3D movies, and more!

After that we ate dinner with Granny and then headed back. Anna Claire and Charlie fell asleep within 5 minutes of being on the road! It was a super fun day!

Now we are back to our regular routine…working hard. But don’t worry…we’ve got some fun planned for the near future! 🙂
Kindergarten
Monday was a big day around the Henson house. Mommy woke up at 6:30, got dressed, and made breakfast (yummy muffins, bacon, watermelon and canteloupe…some of their favorites!). Anna Claire and Charlie got up a few minutes before 7:00, ate, got dressed, took some pictures for mommy, then we all headed to school! Mrs. Morrow and Mrs. Parker greeted them with smiles and hugs. After an extra hug and kiss for mommy and daddy, they headed off to begin their day at school. Mommy was anxious to pick them up and hear about their day. When they got home they had some treats in the mail from Aunt Spencer and the Broadwells. We spent time playing together and talking about their day. All in all, I would say it was a great day first day!
