Edisto 2020

We wanted to go somewhere this summer, but wanted to be safe. We personally didn’t feel comfortable with renting a hotel or house from someone we didn’t know. Thankfully, my brother-in-law’s uncle has a house at Edisto that only family uses. We were able to rent it for 5 days and it was SO nice. Early in our marriage and early parenting years, someone gave us some great advice to vacation with your nuclear family. Now don’t get me wrong…we love traveling with extended family too, but this time is so sweet and we try to be intentional about it.

Day 1 we traveled, got settled in the house, relaxed, spent some time on the beach, fished, read, stocked up at the grocery store, and enjoyed the beautiful sunset!IMG_2178IMG_2188 3IMG_2199 3IMG_2218IMG_2212 2IMG_2195 3IMG_2231 3IMG_2193 3IMG_2207 2IMG_2232 4IMG_2200 4IMG_2247 3IMG_2251 3The next morning, the boys headed to the marina while AC and I checked out this neat open air market.IMG_2252Then off to the beach we went!IMG_2255IMG_2259 3IMG_2261 2IMG_2264 2IMG_2267Later that afternoon we headed to Botany Bay! We did the self guided tour. It was so neat to read all the history!IMG_2273IMG_2284 2IMG_2287 2IMG_2289IMG_2295 3IMG_2296 2C36A6AB2-7AA0-4F30-B32D-68ECD57D4A45That evening after supper, we headed back to the beach.IMG_2300 5IMG_2304 4IMG_2306 2Day 3, AC and I took a long bike ride on the beach while the boys played golf.IMG_2315IMG_2318 2IMG_6880IMG_6871IMG_2322 3Then after some rest time we headed back to the water!IMG_2323 4IMG_2324 4IMG_2328 3IMG_2329 3That evening we took some chicken necks and tried crabbing for the first time. It was so much fun!IMG_2336 2IMG_2338 2IMG_2339 3IMG_2340 2IMG_2344 3IMG_2342IMG_2345 5IMG_2346 6IMG_2353 3IMG_2352 2IMG_2358 2IMG_2360 5IMG_2366 5IMG_2371 4IMG_2372 2IMG_2376 3Day 4 was another beach day!IMG_2382 4IMG_2383IMG_2385 2IMG_2387 3IMG_2388 4IMG_2389 3IMG_2396 4IMG_2457IMG_2399 2That evening we wanted to try crabbing again. We caught shrimp too!IMG_2402 2IMG_2427 3IMG_2438 3IMG_2409 2IMG_2412 2IMG_2420 3IMG_2413 3IMG_2418 3IMG_2432 2IMG_2431 2IMG_2435 3IMG_2456 2IMG_6918IMG_6923We stayed up late that night to go looking for loggerhead turtles hatching.

The next morning was a walk on the beach, souvenir shopping, bike riding for the kids, and packing up! IMG_2459 2IMG_2461 2We are so thankful for a short vacation with our little family!

Sweet 16

This past July, Devin and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary. We wanted to do something fun…but you know…Covid. So we decided to rent a boat and spend the day on Lake Murray. We packed the cooler and had a great day! We fished, tubed, read, ate, swam, and rested. It was such a great day!IMG_1916IMG_1993 4IMG_1996 2IMG_2010 3IMG_2016 2IMG_2003IMG_2005 2IMG_1999 2IMG_1966IMG_1968 2IMG_1964IMG_1963IMG_1956 2IMG_1954 2IMG_1961IMG_1947 2IMG_1948 3IMG_1904 3IMG_1989IMG_1937 2IMG_1941 3IMG_1934 3IMG_1928IMG_2019The night before a baked a cake for Devin. IMG_2018 3When we got home that evening from the lake, the kids set the table, made a menu, and helped cook dinner. IMG_2021 2IMG_2023IMG_2027We had a wonderful day – just the four of us!
