This month flew by! We grabbed a sweet treat at Menchie’s with the Boyds, watched some Gamecock football, participated in the Chapin Labor day parade with Devin’s work, and Aunt Melanie got engaged!
We’ve also enjoyed a lot of football watching our boy! And he got his braces.
The kids turned 12 and a half and enjoyed a cousin sleepover at Nana and Grandpa’s!
AC had fun at Clinton Sease farm while Charlie went to a Dude Perfect show in Greenville!
We also celebrated Aunt Spencer’s birthday! September was a good month!
Devin and I got married in 2004. We were babies. We finished graduate school while renting a townhouse and then in 2007 bought our first home where we still live today. The same month we bought our home, we got two kittens – a boy and a girl named Roscoe and Daisy. They were tiny, mischievous, cute, snuggly, but quite a handful while they were in the kitten stage. Here are some pictures for reference:
Snuggly siblings
Curious Daisy
Roscoe helping us paint
playful kitties
They always liked licking the water from the shower
Unfortunately, Roscoe passed away at 6 years old from a stroke. It was so sad. The kids loved him, especially Charlie! Daisy passed away at 12 (almost 13) years old from old age/kidney issues.
In 2015 some neighbors moved away and left their kitten. 😦 He was about 9 months old and so scrawny and kept coming to our back door. Since we had cat food, I started feeding him. The kids named him Peekaboo and he became our cat. We now have a screen porch with a cat door so he is living his best life on the comfy furniture in the shade under the fan in the warm months and in his heated house in the cold months.
So here’s how we caved…FOREVER the kids have been asking for a dog. In February one of Devin’s colleagues contacted him about a dog he rescued. The dog ended up being pregnant. Y’all, puppies are so cute! So we definitely caved. Our kids were so excited. Our sweet Kinley is 5 months old now. We love her to pieces! Seriously, she is a happy addition to our family.
We are looking forward to many years of loving this sweet girl!
We started off Mother’s Day weekend with Anna Claire’s school pageant. She had so much fun! She learned a dance, participated in an interview, and got all dressed up in a pretty dress. These girls raised $16,000 for Relay for Life!
After her pageant, we headed to Aunt Caity’s house to celebrate Mother’s Day with Nana.
Sunday morning we headed to church and then to lunch at Granny and Papa’s house. We also celebrated my birthday. 🙂
The little white stool above is from 1887. It belonged to my maternal great grandparents and it was tradition to put birthday cakes on it. When my Pa passed away in December, my mom got the stool, so we are continuing the tradition! Isn’t that SO neat??
Monday was my actual birthday. Anna Claire made some homemade snickerdoodle cookies for dessert. It was a sweet day. 🙂
Devin turned 38 last week! He started his birthday by getting brownies at work from his mom and subway chocolate chip cookies from his admin assistant. I guess they know he enjoys some sweets. 🙂 After work he coached two basketball teams. We surprised them in between practices with some donuts. The boys really enjoyed that! After dinner that night, we sent Devin on a scavenger hunt to figure out what his present from us was. On Sunday we invited family over for a cookout. AC and I made a fun cake for him. 🙂
Devin, we love you lots! Happy birthday!!
A big surprise was that Uncle Justin had flown in for the weekend to visit with his grandfather. No one knew he may stop by but me. You should have seen their faces when he showed up! He even brought them a special treat the next day before he headed home. Can’t wait to see the whole Brazell bunch in June!
