For the first time in her cute 6 years, Abigail's birthday fell on a school day. We started off the day bright and early (her bus picks her up at 7:05) with crepes and nutella for breakfast. We squeezed in opening one present before school started and then she was off.
The best thing about her day was making life's lemons turn into lemonade. The original plan had been to take treats to school to share with her classmates, but we found out two days before her birthday that because of allergies all August birthdays would be celebrated the last Friday of the month. We had already talked about sharing treats with friends though---so plan B: invite the kids from her bus stop over after school for cupcakes and lemonade. Best Thing Ever.
Abigail has about 16 kids at her bus stop on any given day and it was pure heavenly happiness of eating cupcakes, drinking lemonade and running around. It was such a fun little event. Fun, Short, Happy, Perfect.
One happy 6 year old!
Her 2nd best thing about her birthday (or maybe her first best thing--) was opening up her Fur Real Kitty. Lucy and Abigail have enjoyed all the "tricks" she can do.
It was a very happy day complete with a BYU shirt from Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Creed that she gets to wear in just a few weeks to her first BYU game with Daddy, a magnet set from Grandma Beverly and Grandpa Ned that has been used a ton to play school with, and other little presents to round out the day. She chose to go to Mexican food for dinner and loved her very own Sprite and steak burrito. She would only go out to dinner though if I promised not to tell the "restaurant people it was her birthday so they won't sing to me".
Amazing to have a 6 year old in the house. She is so sweet and kind. She is constantly creating. She is really into drawing maps of things--the zoo, a town, her school. She is always coming up with solutions to problems. She loves to swing (a life long love really). She could play outside for hours as well as swim for hours and definitely did this summer. She loves playing outside. She is really into reading books and figuring out new words, as well as writing. Since the start of school playing "school" with Lucy has become a favorite past time--so we set up a little school downstairs with alphabet and number charts from my teaching days, pulled out some BIG books for them to use and moved their white board easel down stairs and this couldn't make Abigail any happier. Overall Abigail is one happy girl who finds joy in just being outside playing or inside creating something. We love her so.
