Cutest Shower. Ever.

My wonderful friend Buffy organized the cutest & cleverest baby shower. Ever. Seriously-- every detail about the shower was so fun.  We usually organize, plan and throw baby showers together--so arriving at this shower without a single idea of what to expect was new to me and it was pure delight to see all that she put together.

The food was all so yummy and delicious!

A friend Trisha spent who knows how many hours cutting out and decorating these "train" rice krispie treats---and she even made her famous "sauce" (pictured in the background) to drizzle on top of the fruit.

Another friend Lauryl made these amazing cupcakes: chocolate peanut butter and lemon raspberry. And how darling are those train tracks and train around the desserts?

See what I mean--everything thought at to the little tiny cute detail.

A fun afternoon spent celebrating with good friends who were all so generous is sharing their time that morning and giving us wonderful gifts to make sure that is going to be one well taken care of baby boy--cute clothes, trucks, decor (look at that cute truck wall art on the mantel) & baby supplies.

One Happy Lucy

After 2 years of walking Abigail to her preschool classes the time had come for Lucy to go to preschool herself and she couldn't have been happier.  Seriously.  This girl walked in and hasn't looked back.  The day before her school started Lucy and I were making cookies for her teachers and Abigail came to sit on the counter.  Lucy immediately let it be known: "No Abigail. These are for my teachers. You already made your teacher cookies. This is just my turn now."
She was so excited for her first day!

Even though her bag is basically as big as she is--she usually insists on carrying it in herself.

We are both already in love with her teachers. They are kind and caring and absolutely wonderful. They give Lucy a hug each day and fill her hours at school with goodness.

Having Lucy "leave me" has been bitter-sweet--I'm missing my little helper, but seeing how happy she is time we arrive at her preschool also fills me with joy. I am so thankful we live in a place where she can go to a preschool and sing songs about God's Love for each child, say a prayer before snack and lunch, learn Bible stories throughout the week--all while learning letter sounds and how to interact with others.  What a blessing Lucy is and what a blessing this preschool is!

A 6 Year Old in the House

For the first time in her cute 6 years, Abigail's birthday fell on a school day. We started off the day bright and early (her bus picks her up at 7:05) with crepes and nutella for breakfast. We squeezed in opening one present before school started and then she was off.

The best thing about her day was making life's lemons turn into lemonade. The original plan had been to take treats to school to share with her classmates, but we found out two days before her birthday that because of allergies all August birthdays would be celebrated the last Friday of the month.  We had already talked about sharing treats with friends though---so plan B: invite the kids from her bus stop over after school for cupcakes and lemonade.  Best Thing Ever.
Image
Abigail has about 16 kids at her bus stop on any given day and it was pure heavenly happiness of eating cupcakes, drinking lemonade and running around. It was such a fun little event. Fun, Short, Happy, Perfect.

Her 2nd best thing about her birthday (or maybe her first best thing--) was opening up her Fur Real Kitty. Lucy and Abigail have enjoyed all the "tricks" she can do.

It was a very happy day complete with a BYU shirt from Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Creed that she gets to wear in just a few weeks to her first BYU game with Daddy, a magnet set from Grandma Beverly and Grandpa Ned that has been used a ton to play school with, and other little presents to round out the day. She chose to go to Mexican food for dinner and loved her very own Sprite and steak burrito. She would only go out to dinner though if I promised not to tell the "restaurant people it was her birthday so they won't sing to me".

Amazing to have a 6 year old in the house. She is so sweet and kind. She is constantly creating. She is really into drawing maps of things--the zoo, a town, her school. She is always coming up with solutions to problems.  She loves to swing (a life long love really). She could play outside for hours as well as swim for hours and definitely did this summer.  She loves playing outside.  She is really into reading books and figuring out new words, as well as writing.  Since the start of school playing "school" with Lucy has become a favorite past time--so we set up a little school downstairs with alphabet and number charts from my teaching days, pulled out some BIG books for them to use and moved their white board easel down stairs and this couldn't make Abigail any happier. Overall Abigail is one happy girl who finds joy in just being outside playing or inside creating something. We love her so.

Baby Boy's Arrival Date is coming....October 3rd
What this baby boy likes to do: kick, wiggle, move around all the time, kick my ribs, kick anywhere, and experience the hiccups....oh and kick and move around some more. He is definitely the most active of all my pregnancies. The doctor couldn't help but laugh during my last appointment just watching him move here and there and seeing my stomach move along with him.
