FIAR: A Pair of Red Clogs

Image
I was very excited to make the girls matching kimonos and give them to them the day we started this unit.  Adelaide wore hers long enough to take this picture and then immediately took it off and Ella would never put hers on.  Sad day.  They do like the clogs I bought though!

Making a bento box for lunch...bento boxes are really interesting!  I've really enjoyed learning a bit more about Japanese culture.  One of my favorite things about homeschooling is how much I'm learning!

Ella's Reading!

I saw this book color coding idea on pinterest and since the girls books were definitely needing to be straightened I thought we would try it (and they both sweetly helped the entire time).  I thought it would last an hour or two but a week later they are still very carefully making sure that their books go back in the right place.  Its also causing different books to stick out to them so I'm happy that different books are now back in the rotation.

Ella is reading!  I'm so proud of her!

There are greenhouses full of strawberries in the area so the girls got to go strawberry picking.  I was very impressed with how careful they were to find really red ones that were a decent size.  I think they will be great blueberry pickers!  :)

We took our Easter eggs out there so that they could have an Easter egg hunt.

This is L's business's greenhouse!  Its about a 30 minute drive from our apartment.  We got to go with him on one of the days he spent preparing it for the blueberry shipment.  It was such a good day...so good to be outside and let the girls run around without having to constantly tell them, "Car coming!  Bike coming!  Motorcycle coming!"

I think this is going to be one of my favorite places in the world.  For the last 6 years, days spent in any sort of natural environment have been very few and far between.  I'm thankful for all of our sakes that this will give us more of an opportunity to get out of the big city.

We're enjoying watching Addy's sense of humor develop.  As we drove out there she was singing, "We're going to the pink house, we're going to the pink house."  We could tell by the look on her face that she was trying to be funny and it was!

So thankful I had my camera in my purse!  Addy loves holding hands.

I would highly recommend this recipe and not just because I think sugar is poison and should be avoided as often as possible!  :)  My girls loved it!

A couple of weeks ago we took our first homeschooling field trip.  It was so much fun and we learned a lot!  So thankful for the community of homeschoolers we have here...I learn so much from interacting with other moms.
