Users stake ASTR tokens and receive liquid rebased xnASTR tokens in return. The amount of xnASTR a user receives for each staked ASTR depends on the current exchange rate between xnASTR and ASTR. The value of xnASTR increases with each era due to accrued staking rewards, meaning users do not need to take any additional steps to earn rewards—they are credited automatically.

ASTR tokens are allocated to applications in the Astar Network dApp Staking proportionally based on their staking weight.

xnASTR is a liquid rebased token that supports CCIP technology for cross-chain transfers.

When staking on Soneium, ASTR tokens are sent to Astar Network and xnASTR tokens are returned. This cross-chain transfer is performed via Chainlink CCIP and may take up to 1 hour.

In case of a failed transaction, your ASTR tokens will be returned to your address.

dApp Staking rewards are credited automatically and are reflected in the increasing value of xnASTR relative to ASTR. There is no need to manually claim the rewards.

You can get your tokens beck in several ways:

1. Simply sell xnASTR for ASTR on a DEX.

2. Choose the standard unstaking option, in which case you will need to wait until the ASTR tokens become available for withdrawal. Once submitted, your xnASTR tokens will be burned, and the unstaking period will begin.

3. Opt for the immediate unstaking option if there are enough tokens in the unstaking pool. In this case, a 1% fee will be deducted from your deposit.

The unstaking period ranges from 10 to 12 ERAs (approximately 10–12 days).

Why is this the case?

In Astar Network's dApp staking, the standard unstaking period is 10 ERAs.

However, dApp staking imposes a limit of 8 unbonding calls per user within a 10-day period. Since our liquid staking contract operates as a single "user," Algem consolidates all unbonding requests into batches and submits them to dApp staking 8 times every 10 days. As a result, if you initiate unstaking at the beginning of a cycle, your unstaking period will extend to 12 ERAs.
