Gingerbread Houses
ExxonMobil hosts a Gingerbread House workshop each year. The buffet lines of the corporate cafeteria are transformed into bins and bins full of candy goodness. You receive a gingerbread house when you walk in and after dinner, you get to go peruse the candy. Lily was enthusiastic to decorate and design, while Zane pointed out flaws and stuffed his mouth full of the housing shingles.
Before
Busy at work
Hey ill-ey? You missed a spot.
Pass the twizzlers! I finished the skittles...
Dad helped and tried to inspire Zane to decorate
I love that she holds her tongue like this when working on a project...because I do too. (Zane stuck the green rings and gummy bear on before leaving with Dad to walk around and go see some sights)
The finished project
Hey look! A POST!
Between cleaning, running out of my house, cleaning, cloroxing my toilets, cleaning and making perfect vacuum lines I have found it hard to keep up with the blog. Saturday morning we had 9 showings. In total? I have no idea. We are way past the 30s maybe 40s. Apparently everyone LOVES the idea of our house but then decides they don't love it enough to buy it. Even more frustrating is when we get feedback like,
"Beautiful home! Fantastic floorplan! Love the details! Very nice! Excellent price! However, client wants a house with a pool. Thanks for letting us view!"
Apparently they skipped over the listing part that states "POOL: NO" But thought it would be fun to make me clean for an hour, grab the kids and drive around town for an hour during nap time.
I haven't been the most pleasant mommy on the block but I hope one day my kids will forgive me for telling them NO they can NOT play with their toys, I just cleaned! Watch more TV children!
A Couple Videos - Zane is hilarious in the car. It's a wonder I have not gotten into an accident from laughing hysterically at his backseat antics.
I've never been able to capture any of it on video because 1) Just say no to distracted driving! 2) As soon as he sees he's on camera he stops.
Luckily, Jason was driving and I was able to hide the camera so he couldn't see that I was recording. Try not to pee your pants.
Next we have a video splice from the kids' Christmas play for this year. Zane refused to put on his costume (no shock). Other highlights include: Z&L both seem to like to eat their hands when nervous. Lily thinks hand motions are not worth her time and also, she likes to make faces at inappropriate times like her mommy.
Growing up - the kids moved from Toddler beds into "Big Kid" beds. Their new bedding is thanks to Nana for their Christmas present. They love them!
Around the House News - I enlist all help in trying to keep this house in "show condition"
How little girls vacuum
How little boys vacuum
Visitors - Nana and PawPaw came into town for a visit. We got to spend the day at The Gaylord Texan Hotel.
Zane was mesmerized by the trains. I spent the majority of the day just seeing the back of his head
(That's how I get sick so often)
Pet Peeve...it's DONDER, not Donner.
Ice Cream is a must with any visit
What a cute little train village
So much for trying to get a cute postcard-worthy picture from this set up. Lily wanted to play with the bells and Zane couldn't keep his eyes off the trains.
Events- The annual ExxonMobil Christmas party up at the office brought lots of fun and chilled shrimp. I may or may not have eaten a pound or two by myself.
This was the kids very first Santa exposure. Both did well. Lily was a bit apprehensive however Zane was enthusiastic, even while covered in lollipop stickiness.
Visiting friends - We travelled out to Rockwall this weekend to visit Dr. Anne and family.
Zane and Lily enjoyed climbing the fort with Claire
And Jason was about to slip little Miss Sarah in his pocket to take her home. She's a happy snuggler.
Just for fun
We drove past one of the houses that I grew up in. Lily didn't seem to understand that I was at one time, a little girl. See that tree? I remember my dad planting it as a little tiny baby sapling.

Giddy-up
When Grandma comes to town Zane and Lily have to fight over who gets to ride the horsey.
Random picture of the kids playing Ring Toss and Hungry Hungry Hippos
Lily was well behaved and cooperative at Sun & Ski Sports trying on her new snow boots for our upcoming ski trip. That is why she got to ride the merry-go-round. Zane however, was standing next to me learning the hard lessons of life.
Sixth Floor Museum
On Wednesday, Jason and I went on a date to go visit Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum, because we are nerds like that. I went there once when I was in grade school but there's only so much a fourth grader can absorb. Jason had never been and it would be a shame to have lived in Dallas and not have been. We went on November 23rd, the day after the anniversary but it was still packed and busy. But with this busyness came a few older people sitting around talking. Because I am nosey hear well, I got to listen to a few of them recount where they were when the assassination happened and a few were right there on the parade route. Pretty cool.

Thanksgiving Feast and Chapel at School
Today was the kids Thanksgiving Feast at their preschool. They dressed as Pilgrims and Native Americans (well, Lily did. Zane refused as per normal) and dined on turkey, cheese, grapes, apples, carrots, crackers, corn, rolls, pumpkin pie and cookies..oh and cupcakes. They were stuffed little turkeys by the end of it.
Do you like my table spread, 3 year olds approve
I was proud of Zane for waiting until the prayer before diving in
Um, is this Turkey organic?
Zane's teacher Ms. Julie
Zane telling on Reed for not wearing his hat.
Lily saved lots of room for the desserts.
Lily's friend Madeline
A Lily made place holder
Lily's teacher Ms. Lisa
Hayden Claire and her orange frosting lipstick
He did finish his plate, of course.
Lily & Zane's friend Sarah
The four boys of the Sea Otter Class, Izzy & Ryan
Zane and Reed
After the feast a little exercise to work off the calories
And then, off to Chapel to hear the story of Jacob, Joseph and the coat of many colors
