A beautiful, wonderful experience packed with fun, laughter, and craziness every single day! :D

This is a brief inside look on my volunteering in Seri Mengasih in August. Seri Mengasih is a centre for the intellectually disabled in Sabah. The most common are those suffering from Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism. Here in this little community you will meet the cutest, most amusing, most annoying, most entertaining, most obedient and most curious of personalities. I can't begin to describe each and every person there, they are so unique in their own way!

I admit it was a VERY tiring work experience, but I came home talking about nothing but my new friends :) Even during the weekends I would start missing them. The little kids were just the cutest and most heart melting beings I have ever seen or met in my whole life. My favourite favourite is little Chen Yung, our very own Harry Potter. Seriously, where in the world can you meet such an adorable, lovable, and fragile little child like him???

Even the teenagers and adults (who of course deny this fact that they ARE adults and continue making white hair grow out of the heads of younger adult teachers by being extremely annoying) are really lovable and interesting in their own way. At first glance, they do look quite intimidating and.. different. But if you just make the effort to know them, talk to them, and understand them.. it would be as if the barrier is gone and you are exposed to the most rewarding treasures of understanding, acceptance, and friendship :)

Okay, this doesn't seem much like a proper journal or report, but I'm happy enough to record my babble of feelings after a month of daily give and take :D The experience just feels so... fulfilling and meaningful. Let me just quote this from their formula of success:

Where there is Love-there is Hope,
Where there is Hope-there is Integrity,
Where there is Integrity-there is Dignity,
Where there is Dignity-there is meaning in life.

I wish all my friends in Seri Mengasih the best in life and life-long happiness wherever they are! ^^Y

Compact KL>Seremban>Ipoh Trip! (Day 6&7)

Sorry for the delay! Let’s continue to >>>

DAY 6!

Woke up SUPER late. For our breakfast, well brunch actually, we had Dim Sum at Shi Wei’s favourite place :) Ipoh dim sums come in really small sizes (like grapes) so it’s fun to just pop the whole thing into your mouth :D

Love Shi Wei’s mum’s tea leaves... they smell really good... addictive even... aaaahhhh~

And then we went to Kellie’s Castle.. it was supposedly HAUNTED. Whoooooooooo!! Naturally.. we saw the ghost... of nothing... muahahahah!

Poor cursed bear

Evening came all too fast. Without realizing it, it was time to get on the bus and leave Ipoh. We had McD at the nearest drive through and then hop on the bus back to KL. Bye Shi Wei and Alice!!! Had a really good time with you guys :’) Hope you guys will be coming too KK this September! *HUGS*

DAY 7

I’ve never noticed how beautiful Pei Wern’s Dad’s aquarium was with all the corals and fish until last night when the blue aquarium lights were on. Haha! Anyway, time to pack and head on home! But before that, a last meeting with Pei Pei and Ming Yang from my primary school Anglo-Chinese at Madam Kwan, Midvalley.

Image

It has been a greeeaaat and meaningful week in KL, Seremban, and Ipoh! Though I wish I’d stayed longer so I could splurge on shopping too *sighs* Thanks to everyone who made time for me! Miss you guys very de muchie! *BIG HUGS!*

Can't believe I'm gonna miss AAR performing in Sunway this Saturday... :'( woooooooo.. wooo.. Please scream for me anyone who's going!

Compact KL>Seremban>Ipoh Trip! (Day 4&5)

DAY 4

Went to Pudu to buy our tickets for Ipoh trip. The air at Pudu was super congested! (am I using the word correctly? Haha) Well, the air was misty, dusty, causes coughs and tears in your eyes. Get the picture? Yay. That’s our famous bus station in KL.

Then, I went to Bangsar with Pei Wern, her sis and her mum. Dress heaven? Definitely! Affordable little dress shops were located in rows ofshops surrounding Bangsar Village shopping mall. We had lunch at this expensive restaurant (I forgot it’s name!) serving food that sounds mostly Italian to me :/ Their starters were weirdos. However, the desert was FABULOUS! We had the Chocolate tart~~~

Image Ooo la la~

Later, we went dress hunting! Pei Wern and her mum made me try on like 100++ dresses. Phew. The last shop we went to (Cat’s Whiskers?) had a great collection of dresses and accesories! They were all colour coordinated. It’s somewhere upstairs so look out for this shop next time you visit Bangsar ;)

At night, me went solo travelling to Sentul to have dinner with dearest Melia who was busy with her project but spared some time for me :) Went to her studio in UTM too for a while to spy on her project. Hoho. As if I understand what they were doing.

Image

After that, solo travelling back to Bandar Tasik Selatan to Pei Wern’s to pack up for Ipoh trip tomorrow!

DAY 5

Jump on the bus from Pudu to Ipoh. The journey was roughly around 3 hours? I didn’t really keep track of time. Was chatting and chatting and chatting non-stop with Pei Wern even before the bus started moving out of KL station all the way to Ipoh bus station! Geng leh~~

Image

Finally we are here! MOH KE IPOH WEH! :D Ipoh gave me the impression of a very laid back, old town with beautiful lime stone mountain landscapes wherever you look in the distance. Some people refer to it as a ‘sleepy town’.

Image
And guess what? Our 2 Ipoh drivers, Alice and Shi Wei were classicly late 25 minutes to pick us up. Haha! But I was so glad to see them! Shi Wei, still as happy and vibrant as before. Alice, MUCH slimmer and a little bit more mature ;)

1st stop, went to eat at Ipoh old town. Me and Pei Wern ordered Hakka Mee and Iced Coffee..

Image Miss Alice

Image Miss Shelly aka Shi Wei

Image
And we also had the famous Caramel Custard..

Image
Image

Tired of stuffing ourselves, we went to Shi Wei’s house to chill. That’s when pink Baby Monkey met pink Cookie.

Image

Energy restored, we went to visit the temples built at the foot of the mountains and in limestone caves. Too many pictures here. Will all be in Facebook soon >.<

Later, we were all dehydrated and went to a place called Rainbow Town, I think, to have Shi Wei’s favourite ‘tong sui’. It’s just in front of SamTec, Jay’s high school (correct spelling or not Jay?) Too bad the stall was already closing! Haih.. we came a little too late.

Then, me and Pei Wern went to Alice’s home and met her family. Her sis is pretty leh.. looks like her ^^
Dinner! We had the famous Chicken Tauge Kue Tiau. It was sooooo good!

Image

Image

Image

Image

After dinner, went to buy some Ipoh food stuff souvenirs. Then Shi Wei brought us to buy the 'Wonderful' Honey Chicken which was to be our supper >.<

Image

All day I couldn’t help but notice ‘MENGLEMBU’ signs all around Ipoh! Lembu means cow. So Menglembu means... Cowing? Hoho! Rupa-rupanya it was a place in Ipoh. So, I got Shi Wei to stop somewhere on the side of the road so I could take this >>>

Image

It was a one snap picture taken by the professional Pei Wern. And I also wanted to snap the HUGE GIGANTIC peanuts which were in the middle of a roundabout. So Shi Wei had to drive slooooowly around the round about for me to snap this >>>>

Image
Haha! We crashed at Shi Wei’s place. Had our girls’ pillow talk till 4.30am before we officially fell asleep~~~

Image
All in all, it was a great day with great friends ^^Y

Compact KL>Seremban>Ipoh Trip! (Day 3)

DAY 3

Dragged my luggages all the way from Hang Tuah station to Pavillion shopping mall. It was a 800km+ walk! Why Pavillion? No particular reason. Just for fun and to sakai. Hoho.

There’s this nice flowery fountain in front of Pavillion shopping mall..

Image

Image

We had Pancake International for breakfast! Yummy yum yum.. I knew I said I will not have anything western for a long time but this is just too much of an exception...

Image
Ooo la la.. My Pancake of Peaches (Peach! :p)

Image
Lovely us..

The waiter actually offered to help us take this picture! Eeeww.. no way. But he insisted. Oh well, just so he wouldn't suspect we are fresh from a mental hospital or something.. we posed this way..

Image
What else do girls do when a Megasale gives out the slightest hint of its arrival? SHOPPING!

Image

Image
Yup, I know I'm super sakai. It's one of the only things I'm really good at :p

Image

The flower lights are on! Pretty pretty..

Later, Pearle had to rush back home so I tagged along to Dijah’s place. Watched our favourite Spongebob Squarepants and Michael Jackson’s Top 40 songs hosted by a weird guy. By evening, it’s time to say goodbye to my high school darlings and have a reunion with my foundation buddies!

Met Pei Wern and her sis, Pei Yi at Pavillion. Without my prior knowledge they brought me to have dinner with a BIG bunch of their family members. What a SHOCKER. But I survived, they were great people and I had great food :D Banana fritters... OoOoO. So that’s DAY 3 for you.

Compact KL>Seremban>Ipoh Trip!

BLOGGER REVIVED!
I know you missed me. Muahaha! ;)

Phew~~ After all the busy-ness I am finally free to start blogging again. Too much to blog! Aaahh! Ok.. I'll start with the most recent story to brag about. My compact and crazy 1 week visit to KL, Seremban, and Ipoh with the main purpose to fish out and kacau good friends. (Too bad I forgot it was MEGASALE! I should have stayed longer. Bodoh) It was sooo tiring with head-ache planning (and begging) but it was all very much rewarding ^^

Hmm.. only prob is should I post the pics here or in Facebook? I would usually chuck everything in Smilebox and then embed it here... but I belum download Smilebox in my new Vaio lappie.. OH! I bought a new PINK Vaio! :D will brag more about it later. Haha! Ok ok.. I'll just post some main pictures here but the rest will be in Facebook. Let's start on the trip :D

DAY 1

Realized how small Colonel Burger shrunk while eating at KFC with Dijah. Flew. Landed in KL. Go find Pearle. Tag along to Pearle's cell group. Makan dinner in this BIG food court with loads of food somewhere near Sunway. (Pearle pls tell me the name of that food court if you are reading this). No pics here.

DAY 2

Go karaoke with me babes..

Image

Dijah..

Image

and Pearle!

Image

Red Box, LowYat. Luckily there was space for us. Dijah's 1st time karaoke somemore. Hoho!

Next, me and Pearle had to rush off to Seremban to meet Mr. Gates aka Pepagar. Our plan to meet at 2.30pm was postponed to 4.30pm thanks to our beloved KTM. Hmm.. actually, we were to blame too for chit-chatting too long and going off late.. ngeh. At first glance, Gates looked thinner! After more inspection, he did get thinner. Anyway, 1st stop...

Image

Siew Pau!

Image

Port Dickson! (after so long of writing about this beach in my karangan..)

Image

Image
Pearle bought the jagung bakar which in my opinion tasted HORRIBLE! urgh.. like really kena bakar. Oh well.. it IS called jagung 'bakar' (Boo: yups! ur jagung Luyang lagi sedap :D haha). Don't listen to Gates' demoting account of Port Dickson, it wasn't so bad. At least no sampah sarap floating in the sea... or kids peeing into the sea under bright daylight.

And then Gates got us caught in a traffic jam, got lost somewhere, and then caught in a longer traffic jam. Yay. No lah.. jk! It wasn't that bad. I enjoyed every minute ;) Then we went around Seremban to look at temples, sultan's ex-home, lake, VIP buildings that have the Minangkabau rooftops (just like in Sejarah textbook!), erm... lots of buildings but I can't remember all of them.

For dinner we had this famous Fish Head Mi Hun Soup which supposedly appeared in NTV7 before..

Image

Image
It was really nice! The right word to describe it is....... ADDICTIVE. Couldn't stop drinking the soup and eating the mi hun. Yum yum yum!

Due to Pearle's craving for durians, we stopped at a roadside stall to have some. I'm not sure how but Gates' random and unskilled choosing got us a really nice, creamy, sweet & bitter durian. Yay! Thanks Pearle for having your craving at that time.. somehow inspired me to have craving too. Haha

Image
Even though the trip back and forth to Seremban was tiring and looooonng, it was worth the visit ;) Thanks so much Gates for being a great tour guide and friend. Miss you loads :( Of course there's so much more to see in Seremban but let's keep that for next time. Dijah, Pearle, we shall go karaoke again soon! This time I wanna sing Lucky and Love Story... AGAIN ^^Y

Ok I'm feeling so dang sleepy.

To be continued...
