About VR Cover
VR Cover began in 2014 with a couple of VR enthusiasts who used their Oculus Rift DK2 to the point where it began falling apart. Hygiene problems were apparent early on with the foam easily becoming sweaty, oily and not very pleasant to share. Our original idea was to create a cover for the headset, similar to a pillowcase, that would absorb sweat and be easy to wash, with each user having their own to attach when it was their turn to play.
With the release of the Samsung Gear VR in 2015, the first customizable headset was introduced. Rather than gluing foam pads to the device like other brands, Samsung decided to use Velcro strips, allowing you to remove the foam padding all together and throw it in the washing machine. While experimenting with our foam replacements, we quickly learned how much the design and materials used greatly affected the enjoyment of your VR experience. We made several improvements, such as using easy-to-clean materials for the foam, changing the foam density for comfort, and modifying the thickness to adjust the field of view.
In 2020, we introduced a Quest 2 disposable hygiene solution designed to tackle the problem of sweating in VR, using highly absorbent materials these have become the industry standard for active VR sports. Fast forward to today and foam replacements, once a simple experiment, became one of our most popular accessories.
While we no longer develop new foams for the latest headsets, our range for older models continues to be a favorite among long-time VR users. At our store, you can find accessories for the Meta Quest 3S/3, Quest Pro, Quest 2, the original Quest, Oculus Rift S and Rift, Apple Vision Pro, PlayStation VR 2, PICO 4, HP Reverb G2, HTC Vive and Valve Index.
