(My cute girls. I love this picture. P.s. There are more pics after all the typing if you wanted to skip my nonsense rambling)
My girls are 1 1/2 years old. I like saying that instead of the months because it sounds weird to me saying they are 18 months or 27 or 42 months. I don't like doing anymore math then I need to and I like math! so I can only imagine those math haters out their trying to subtract 27-24 to guess that they are about 2 and something months old. Just an example.
I look at pictures of them from when they turned one and wow they have changed. Yikes. Babies! Slow down. I mean seriously. Yet with every day older comes new discoveries and funny cute things they do. I wouldn't give up them today for them 6 months ago. I just love each new day.
So let's see. As of lately they are doing so many new things since I last posted in April. Sorry it took so long. I had a bad taste for blogs for a few months and couldn't bring myself to blog for awhile but I'm over it. Some people are just haters and that is out of my control. Anywho...
So yeah, we had summer and it was wildly uh uneventful actually. We intended to take the kids on vacation or go camping but the thought of it an the craziness involved with chasing two active 1 year olds was so exhausting we never quite made it out of the planning stages. We did slip away to a cabin for an overnighter with my parents and Noah. That was nice. There is just something about the mountains.
Autumn is back in school. She's a 7th grader now and that's crazy close to being in high school. So crazy. She is an awesome big sister and a huge help at home. But like any other 12 year old she has her days. She loves to annoy us, especially in the car and asks us to change the station or turn it up the instant we start the car. She takes over an hour to get ready all the while I'm getting the twins ready (which can seriously take an hour) and then I jump in the car and get ready at the stoplights. No joke. When I dance or sing in the car, it embarrasses autumn as to be expected and yeah. She's a pre-teen y'all. Bring it on! But she's growing into such a beauty. She has the most gorgeous long eyelashes and naturally wavy hair. I highlighted her hair and it looks so pretty on her. She wears make up now and loves clothes and shoes and changing her outfit atleast 4 times before she decides on one. (Which explains the hour to get ready and the mound of clothes in every corner of her room)
Delaney is a whopping 21.6 pounds and is 32 3/4 inches tall. Yeah she's a bit petite but still growing normal so no worry. She is so dang smart an sometimes we compare her to Paisley which I know we shouldn't but the doc says Delaney is advanced and Paisley is normal so that's reassuring. Delaney always did things a month to two months before Paisley. Delaney speaks a lot. She mimics everything we say and do. My favorite the other day was when she came to me in the kitchen and said: "owie, cold, cold". I looked to see an ice cube in her hand. Haha. She always asks to get the "mail mail" and when you say to her "do you need a spankin?" She pats herself on the bottom. Yes if my child runs for the street and doesn't stop when I say "stop" or "no" she gets a smack to her bottom. I'm guessing those diapers were meant for more than just cleaning up messes but for cushioning those bums from spankins. And now she doesn't run in the street and waits to "hold hands" before she steps out to get the "mail mail". Speaking if those diapers. I bought a potty toilet for cheap and thought I'd probably need it someday. Well Delaney played with it and sat in it and I showed her with her diaper off is how she sits on it. Well one day she ran in our room and pointed to her potty chair so I got it down and she sat on it and by golly that girl pushed and pooped in it. I was a little stunned and so I thought well if she wants to potty train I better go with it and not miss that window. Well I think that moment was a fluke. After 4 messed pull ups, we put it on hold. She is barely learning to say poo poo and pee pee. So maybe in another 6 months she'll be roarin to go.
Paisley is weighing in at 21.9 and is 32 1/4 in tall. So she's a wee bit chunkier and that is mostly from her thighs and booty. Sorry Pais, you got what your momma gave you. But she is so cute when she runs and those chunky legs move so stinkin fast. I love it. Paisley is our fast and furious fearless girl. She loves being thrown in the air and loves swinging and sliding, even the big slides don't phase her. Delaney is the complete opposite. She will climb up the play set and watch sister go down but will freak out if you try making her. She has gone down the tiny slide (like 2 feet) and that's her max. Ha.
Paisley is such a little mother. She always makes sure that sister has a snack and a drink and mommy too then she will eat hers. She has a baby doll (they both do actually) and they love to swaddle them, give them babbas, binkies and pat them on the back or rock them. It is quite possibly the most adorable thing I've ever seen. It makes my eyes water to see how sweet and mothering they are. Oh my. I just love it. On the flip side of Paisley's sweet mothering quality, she can get real angry and throw some cute, stomp her feet tantrums. It's usually when Delaney has something that Paisley decides she HAS to have. She can get real nasty and rip it out of Delaney's hands, hit her to get it if she won't give it up and makes a run for it once she has it. She has a problem with the "I want what she has" syndrome. Ha. When it comes to sharing, the girls are surprisingly awesome at it. But sharing means waiting to play with it until the other person is done. If it's something they both see and want at the same time, we set a very short time limit with one and then switch and that goes on until one loses interest and finds something else to play with. It's really fantastic having twins in a lot of ways but having toddlers that already know how to play well with other toddlers, in my mind, is a huge relief. And Paisley's little anger outbursts usually are directed at Delaney. So far none of the Nursery kids at church have seen it so thats great.
Speaking of nursery. They began going when they were 17 months and both loved it. Then when we started leaving them alone Delaney struggled. She was doing fantastic until she pooped one day, so I came and got her. Changed her. She waved at dad in the library but seemed eager to get back to her snack and fun. Then I turned to head out the door and she lost it. The saddest cry ever! I ended up taking her with me and Paisley just did her thing. Seriously, Paisley loves it and thinks she's in Disneyland or something. She just runs around singing and squealing and loves all the activities and music time and snacks. Two very different girls I have. Delaney has always been a bit of a momma's girl. But she will do great. The next week I stayed for an hour and slipped out. She did good.
They love riding around the neighborhood in a little red wagon that grandpa Bryce let us borrow. They LOVE it. And it's pretty adorable to see not one but two little cuties with their pebbles ponytails sticking straight up riding down the road.
They love being outside. Delaney stands at the door or window and says "side? Side?" They run barefoot and get dirty little feet, scuffed up knees with "owies" on them and dirty little red faces from playing so hard. It's so cute. I love that they love playing, getting dirty and being outside.
They are officially off the bottle. They had one before church on Sunday a week ago and now it's like they never had them before. They were really only drinking them at bed time or maybe in the morning. If I gave them milk in the morning or day, it was in a sippy cup. So I bagged up all the bottles and threw them on the top shelf. It was a sad moment. A "my babes aren't babies anymore" moment. When Delaney wants her drink she says "cup, cup". They are both very good at communicating. This week paisley has just started talking like crazy. Typical, a month or so behind sister. I heard autumn tell paisley to say "please" and she said "pease" then she said say "thank you" and it sounded like "tankooo". So pretty soon we'll have two more chatty Kathy's in the house. Me and autumn being the others.
Well I better wrap this up. I wish I could share all the single funny things they do (I try to for journaling purposes) so I'll just share the few that I can remember. And maybe they are only cute and funny to wade and I when we lay in bed and talk about all the cute things they did that day but those moments are some sweet moments. Nothing like hearing their daddy talk about his little sweethearts.
Delaney is obsessed with her cousin Baby Lawson (jazz and Aaron's little guy). My lock screen in my phone is Lawson because she lights up every time she sees him. I have an entire photo album dedicated to just pictures of Lawson. She calls him "Bebeh". When I tell her to say Lawson, she says "Lawss" or "la la" which I know isn't a favorite of jazz's nicknames for her boy so we will call him "Lawss". Looking at his pics or watching videos of herself and Paisley are her most favorite things right now. Paisley loves to run and play. If I make up some random game she's all over it. I hid books under the pillows and let her lift them up and find them and she was so stoked!! She is SO my child, she gets so excited about the littlest things just like me. They have music time in nursery and they play this cd and walk around waving flags it clacking two sticks together. She gets so excited to march around. It is hilarious to watch.
Well it's Labor Day weekend and I've got two sick babies. So we are staying home, watching movies and snuggling all weekend. If they are still sick tomorrow, I will probably skip church and stay home why them. Which will strange since I can't remember the last time I skipped church. Probably that month after I had the twins was the last time. I really do love church even though I literally wrestle both of them during sacrament meeting. They want to climb on me, not Wade or autumn, the whole time then when they both can't be entertained they start to scream and make a scene so I scoop them both up and whisk them out of there under both my arms, which is probably a bigger scene. Then last Sunday after I had done the above, one of them pooped so I had to walk back in with both, have wade hand me the diaper bag while I'm holding their hands and they are walking and Delaney takes off for the front of the chapel. Oh man. So I've got no choice but to hustle after her. I should have handed paisley off but wade and autumn somehow got trapped on the inside of the back pew with people on both sides (mission farewell) so I was the Lone Ranger walking to the front while my daughter is 10 steps ahead of me keeping one eye on me and waving and smiling at everyone she walks by. After walking past the front bench I thought she'd head back up the aisle to the back where we started this whole thing but she took a hard right and headed for the stairs to the pulpit. I caught her just as she headed up them and did the walk of shame back up the aisle and out the door trying not to make eye contact with anyone except my husband who was laughing which made me smile and thankfully it was during the rest hymn so no talks were interrupted during this. So my point is that I love church. Even with the challenge of twin toddlers. I love it still. I hope you all are blessed in your trials and challenges and in your moments of happiness and joy too. This life is our test and we must endure it well. I've said this before but when the going gets tough, I'm reminded of my blessings and how grateful I am to have them because I knew the heartache of not having them so I'm so grateful that I am blessed with my husband and three beautiful daughters, our health, our home, our jobs and our family. And I'm eternally grateful for my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ.
