Why Backup DNS Matters

When managing DNS infrastructure, reliability and redundancy are essential. Even if your primary DNS server is well maintained, outages can still occur because of maintenance, connection issues, or hardware failure. Without a secondary DNS service, your domains may temporarily become unreachable, which can cause downtime for websites, email, or other online systems.

The Backup DNS service prevents this problem. It provides an automated Anycast-based secondary DNS that keeps your domains online even if your primary server stops responding.

How Backup DNS Works

Backup DNS uses standard AXFR and IXFR zone transfers to automatically synchronize your zones from the primary DNS server. After setup, the system keeps your DNS data up to date without any manual intervention.

All data is served through the WEDOS.zone global Anycast network. Each DNS query is answered from the nearest available server, which improves response time and ensures high availability even during local outages.
