I’m sitting, thinking, of that feeling, from so long ago
How can it be, that it was possible for me to feel that way?
I see people walking around.
See them waiting for someone.
They lean against the walls, sit on stairs.
Reading a book, listening to music, staring at the crowd that passes by.

And as I sit alone, I look at all those waiting around.
And, long as it may seem, their date finally arrives.
They get up, some with disapproving frowns, some with relieved laughter.
But one thing remains the same.
They’re leaving me behind.
