The Idea of Becoming a Parent..........
Now I know that some of you are thinking, well why are you just now figuring this out, your due date is in 10 days and you've had nine months to let that thought seep into your mind. Well, its one thing when you realize your pregnant and have time to prepare and completely different when you realize that the time is almost up. Or maybe that is just me. :)
I have known for years that I am a selfish person, hence the reason us not having any children before now. :) We liked being able to do things when we wanted to, without having to worry about what to do with the kids. You could also say that we were smart enough to know that we weren't quite ready for kids and kept pushing the time table back.
You see when I was a teenager, I had a plan. The plan was I would get married and after two years of marriage we would start our family. Isn't it funny how we make these plans and then they change. Well I got married, two years of marriage passed and I thought, no way do I want kids right now. I'm having to much fun with just the hubby. Then three years passed, and four years passed, then we came up on five years of marriage. By this point I finally finished my bachelor's degree and found myself, somewhat, back in the workforce. Last year happened to be an awfully good year for us and I thought it was now or never to start having kids.
So I'm sure everyone knows what happened next and here I am nine months later, waiting for my little boy to arrive and I'm terrified! Am I excited, is the number one question asked of me and I would like to say not as much as I am terrified. :)
Do I care that I'm losing all my freedom? HECK YES! :) See that is the selfish part of me coming out again. But am I happy to finally step into the wonderful world of parenthood? Yes, until I'm at the grocery store and hear a screaming kid, then I think, WHAT HAVE WE DONE?! Then you add in the fact of who the parents are of this new little person and I think, UH OH! If this kid gets his father's fearlessness and my knack for creativity we are in trouble. Not to mention the craziness that comes from both families. :) And while I'm thinking about all of this, I think that this poor child is completely dependent on us and we have the next 18 years to screw this kid up.
Everyone tells me I will be a really good mom and a part of me believes them. I have wisdom to share (some days), life experience (okay some), and love to give (this I have a lot of). That other part, the "devil" BranDee says, whatever girl, you think you know, but you don't know.
So see, in this blog you have just entered into the crazy world that is my mind, as I sat on the floor of the baby's room and thought about becoming a parent. I would like to say that at that moment the baby kicked and I felt all better about becoming a parent, but that isn't really my style. :) I finally talked myself down and said, get through bringing this kid in the world, then you can start freaking out. :) Or better yet, take it one day at a time and politely nod at those that readily give you advice on how to be a good parent, then flip them off as they walk away. :) KIDDING! For now I think we'll be okay, but ask me in 18 years how my little boy is and if he is screwed up, well lets just hope he isn't. :)

And its time for another try......
So its been a long time AGAIN, since I last posted. I'm going to try to post more often. I've said that before, several times and it never happens. I think I've promised my journal the same thing and I can't commit. Poor Journal.
Anyways, so here is a quick update of the past year. Daryl killed his Elk, I am pregnant, we bought a new house, and now I'm three weeks away from popping. :) See there is all that you need to know. Okay I'll add in a few details.
So Daryl did get to go on his hunt and after about five days, he killed an elk! It was a very exciting day for him. He called me from the mountain to tell me he had bagged one and then went on butt dialing me for the next half hour while he was cutting up the big bugger. I found it entertaining cuz I could hear him sawing and swearing. Tonz of fun. :)
Adding to this, in October of last year I discovered I was pregnant. Yes after five years of marriage, and finally finishing school, we figured it was time we joined the world of parenthood. Of course Daryl claims that I got him drunk and took advantage of him, but he is ecstatic to be welcoming a son in June. We've already decided to name him Hunter Jason Wenzl. Hunter, because that is a name Daryl always wanted to name his first son, Jason is after a really good friend of Daryl's that was killed in a car wreck two years ago, and Wenzl cuz I couldn't get Daryl to take my last name. :) So needless to say I'm excited and terrified at the same time. Why terrified you ask? THINK ABOUT IT! Me a parent! Are you crazy! This poor kid is going to be crazy just because of the genes we've passed onto him. :) But it should be fun right?
And finally we did the crazy thing and purchased a house. Yes, we moved from our condo, which I loved but was becoming to small, and we moved into a five bedroom house in Layton. We went a little farther north then originally planned, but I'm happy that we did. Daryl is already planning several projects that he needs to do and I'm just planning on taking care of my little guy when he arrives. So all in all we are having another eventful year, like last year, only a different set of circumstances. Should be fun and I'm hoping that I'll post more often. Now that we have a little guy coming into our family, I'm sure his grandparents in Kansas are going to want to get regular updates about him. So lets keep our fingers crossed that its not another year.

Summer Time!
This has been a very interesting, very busy summer for Daryl and I this year. Usually we have pretty slow summers, doing something every once in awhile. But it seems this year is the year to go out and do a lot of things. Since Daryl found out that he was going to be hunting for an Elk in the number 2 area in the state of Utah, he decided that we needed to go down and scout out the area. So every spare weekend we've had, we've been down in the Fillmore area looking for Elk and camping. Its actually been a really fun adventure and I didn't know that Fillmore had such pretty areas to explore. Usually I just drive by it and can't stand it because it seems like a never ending stretch of I-15.
But moving on, we've probably camped at every free campsite that we could find down there. Yes they have free campsites. The first weekend it was just Daryl and I, and we had a nice camp spot by a river, which cooled us down at night and helped us sleep. It was fun just having the two of us spending that weekend together. We didn't see an Elk that weekend, but we did find some deer and a bunny. (Which was really cute.)
There was one night when my over active imagination took hold and we went for a ride on BranDee's crazy train. :) I woke in the middle of the night to the sound of something playing in a garbage bag not far from our tent. Now some people might go, its probably just a raccoon, but not me. My brain went BEAR! and of course I followed suit. I shook Daryl awake and told him something was outside our tent and I was terrified. Now those of you who know my husband, know that he is a gun collector as well as an avid hunter. A few years ago he obtained his concealed weapons permit and anytime we go camping, he brings along his .45 for protection. So he of course reaches over, grabs his gun, and loads it, making a very loud unusual noise. We heard whatever was in our garbage took off, knocking over our pan and making a ruckus. Of course at this point Daryl realizes that it was probably a raccoon my brain is still going BEAR! Of course, what bear would run at that noise, he would probably be curious and come looking to see what he heard.
Anyways, Daryl went out and found nothing but a few small holes in our garbage bag and came back to scold me from being so paranoid. Of course he did it lovingly, then handed me the truck keys and said if I heard anything else to turn on the lights or the alarm and we would be okay. I'm grateful to have a husband who is willing to go outside our tent and face whatever scarey creatures roam in the night AND one who is smart enough to know that the only way I'm going to sleep is with a back up plan, hence the truck keys. :)
That was probably our most interesting weekend. We spent another weekend four wheelin' through the mountains and that was a blast. I've never done that before and I plan on doing that again in the future. We also took our truck up a road and found a beautiful area high up in the mountains that was just stunning. I love Utah, it always has a few surprises up its sleeves for us. Of course with all these trips we have yet to find an Elk, but I know they are up there and Daryl better get one in November. Because I will have to deal with an unhappy husband if he doesn't and I really don't want to. :)
Thats pretty much been what our summer has been about. This past weekend we spent time with my family, taking family photos and having a really fun day. My brothers and I all went up to our parents house and its been awhile since all four of us have been there at once. Normally one of us is missing from the equation. Laughing and just hanging out was a blast and the family pictures were fun, as soon as I got a tripod. Stupid me forget the smallest things. :) At the end of the day, Dad made a fire in his pit out back and we roasted hot dogs and marshmellows that evening. It was nice.
I guess that about covers it for now, I don't want to make this too long. August is looking to be an interesting month for us. Daryl is off to what I call Man Camp this weekend and then the next weekend I'm off to Seattle to visit my awesome cousin Jodi. This is also the month that Daryl turns...dun dun dun....30! Of course he doesn't really care, which is fine, cuz we're not old yet. I think when I reach 60 I'll be old then.
See ya next time! TOODLES!!!

Wow one whole year.
Its been one year since last you heard from me. That should tell you how exciting my life is. :) It also tells you that I'm lazy, so now you know two things about me. :)
Okay so I guess I should try and back track tell you a little bit of what has happened the past year. We spent a lot of time with Daryl's family this past year, which was great. We were able to go back to Kansas in July of last year and take our friend Yusef with us, something Daryl has been wanting to do for a very long time now. It ended up being quite an adventure and we had such an interesting way of welcoming Yusef to the farm. :)
See when we first got there, after saying hello to the whole family, Daryl decided he wanted to take Yusef on a tour of the farm. Of course I had to go along, cuz I love tours and I've always wanted to be a tour guide. :) (Side track there, I'll tell you about wanting to be a tour guide another time.) So anyways, Daryl and I hopped on one of the four wheelers and Yusef hopped on the other which happens to belong to Janice, Daryl's mom. She gave Yusef the same speech she gives everyone, don't you dare wreck my four wheeler speech. :) (I bet you can guess where this is going.)
Anyways after the speech we headed off for our little tour. Everything went really smoothly until the end of the tour when we were heading down a road, that goes through fields, to where Daryl's families' pond is. We wanted to show Yusef where we would most likely be hanging out for the majority of the trip. So Daryl and I are leading the way, passing corn taller than us at a fast pace. Then all of sudden, a truck comes from behind the corn and directly in our path. Thankfully the truck, which was carrying Daryl's sister Kate, her hubby Mark, and their daughter Isabel, went right and we went right. Which means avoiding collison. But this is where it gets funny. I heard from behind these very memorable words...."Oh S***! Oh S***! Oh S***!" and looked over to see Yusef had gone farther right and I think forgot where the brake was. Luckily there was an old post that he ran into and it was like watching a cartoon. He hit the post, the post kind of cracked and Yusef, along with the four wheeler fell over. Now at the time, it wasn't funny because we are thinking that oh great we just killed Yusef and we haven't even had him on the farm for 24 hours. Thankfully he was fine, other than a twisted ankle. Of course then the don't wreck my four wheeler speech came back in his head and he was freaking out. He thought Janice was going to kill him. But thankfully, the four wheeler suffered no damage and everyone still gets a good laugh out of it.
The other good yet tragic thing that happened was we were able to spend the day with Daryl's good friend Jason. I say tragic because five days after we saw him and three days after returning home, Jason was killed in a car accident. My heart broke for Daryl, but I was thankful that we had made it out there to see him the weekend before. The trip had kind of been a spur of the moment trip and I think it was a blessing given to Daryl to see his friend one last time.
Sorry to get so sad there, this post is like a roller coaster. One moment I have you laughing and screaming, then I bring you down with all this sadness. But it was part of what touched our lives in the past year and I wanted to share it.
Moving on, the another great thing that happened last year was I finally graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology! CRAZY!!! It was an exciting and scary time for me, realizing that something I thought I would never achieved actually happened and now I have to be a grown up! CRAPPY!
Before job hunting commenced, Daryl and I took our Christmas trip out to Kansas to see the family and spent almost three weeks there. Daryl wanted to take me on a trip for graduating and I told him that the trip I wanted to take was to Kansas to visit with his family. It was my way of giving back to him for pushing me to complete school and for paying for most of it. :) But I wanted us to be able to have some real quality time with his family. Vacations are fun, but when you are rushing to see everybody in those seven days you are there, it makes you feel like you missed out on the quality time. AND believe me, when a blizzard comes and keeps eight adults and four kids trapped on the farm for three days! That is QUALITY TIME!!!! :) Actually it turned out to be a lot of fun and I got some really great pictures of my nieces and nephews. In fact, we had a new niece welcomed to the family on October 25, 2009, our niece Naomi. That made it so that we had two nephews and two nieces and no kids ourselves. It means we help with the happy kids and give the grumpy ones to their parents. :)
Anyways, getting up to speed I spent about four and a half months looking for a job before I finally found a part time job as a USU faciliator. Its actually a fun job and I enjoy it. But part time isn't exactly what I was looking for and I'm still keeping my eyes open for something better out there. Job hunting sucks! (Just wanted to throw that in there.)
I guess that kind of sums up everything happening, which obviuosly isn't a whole lot. OH the other thing is Daryl gets to go Elk hunting in November. He is super excited and I'm super happy for him. Its something he has desperately wanted to do and he lucked out getting his name drew this year for a very popular area. So by the end of the year I'm going to be eating Elk meat and I have a feeling there will be a Elk head in my living room. Great. :P Oh well, it makes him happy.
Well thats the end of my rambling for now. I'm going to try and do better, but who knows it may be a whole year before you hear from me again. Lucky you. :) Enjoy and I'll see you in another post.

One Crazy GAL!
So they left on a friday afternoon, I think it was the 22nd and headed our way. Of course I had to run around and get my house nice and clean. We have to make people think that our house is always clean. :) I am such a procrastinator that if I would just clean a little every day I wouldn't be running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to clean the whole place. But oh well I don't mind it.
Going on, on saturday about noon they showed up at our door and we were ecstatic. We hadn't seen our niece Isabel since Thanksgiving and now she was two and bigger. Of course she didn't want anything to do with us at first because we were these scary people she couldn't really remember. Of course kids love me and it didn't take her very long to warm up to me, Daryl on the other hand, it took a little while longer. But that was okay, he was more interested in partying with his brother in law then anything else. Those two stayed up until four in the morning almost every night playing golf on the wii. Crazy boys!
Anyways, while they were here Kate wanted to go fishing up on Strawberry Lake on a pontoon boat. So of course we couldn't pass that up because it is sooooo much fun! Isabel hadn't been feeling good for a few days and the poor thing had a fever. So before our trip they took her to an instacare to see if they knew what was wrong with her. It just seemed to be a bug that she picked up and as long as we kept her medicated all would be well. So she was happy when her fever wasn't bothering her and not soooo happy when it was. Like screaming not happy. Obviously Daryl and I weren't used to the screaming, so ibuprofen was always at hand for headaches. :)
When we got to strawberry lake we were literally the only people staying in the lodge that they had there. It was kind of eerie. I'm so used to that place being busy and so it was nice to have it mostly to ourselves. That first night we were there it was raining off and on through the evening, but luckily for us it turned out a very beautiful rainbow.
This is a picture of the storm rolling in.
Here is the really awesome rainbow that showed up and stuck around for a little while. It was really pretty on the lake.
That night we just hung out and talked, enjoying each others company. The next morning it was absolutely gorgeous outside and were extremely excited about going out on our fishing trip. Yusef and Lil' Y (or Yusef Jr.) came up to join us on our fishing adventure. So Daryl and Mark picked out the pontoon, which wasn't hard since we were the only ones renting a pontoon boat that day. Then we loaded up and headed out to catch some fish.
Daryl took us to a spot the summer before we had great success, catching three fish at once. One was mine, one was his mom's, and one was his dad's. Of course its a different time of year and we sat there for about an hour with no luck. So we moved onto another spot and I thought it would be a good time to get a picture of our awesome crew. Yes that is Daryl cracking open a beer. I guess it makes him a better fisherman.
See how pretty and glass like the lake was? It was really great. It wasn't too long after this picture that we started catching fish. I think Daryl was the first to catch a fish, but I can't quite remember. But by the end of the fishing, everyone but Yusef had caught a fish. Probably because he bailed early when it started to cool down and another storm began rolling in. But here are a few more pictures from our trip.
Kate's first catch of the day.
Strawberry Lake
Little miss Isabel. All in all the trip was really fun, even though we only got to keep one of the fish that we caught. It just so happened to be the ONLY one that I caught that day, but at least we got to keep it. :) It went home to Daryl's dad because he loves fish and we don't. Its that simple.
It really was fun having them out here with us and it was great to spend time with Isabel. We don't get to see our niece and nephews more than a few times a year, so we try and spend as much time with them as we can. The funny thing was that Isabel never called me by my name, she always called me Adee (pronounced eighty...like the number). At first I had no clue who she was talking to, but by the end of the trip I knew and she was my best little friend.
Since that trip Daryl and I have celebrated our four year anniversary! Can you believe it? Its just plain crazy. We didn't do a whole lot, just went out to dinner and gave each other gifts. I wanted a puppy......but I didn't get one. :) Which is fine, I've decided since then that I can wait to get a dog, we don't have room for a dog here. I got some money for my Itunes, so that was awesome! I love music! Then on June 13th, dum de dum, I celebrated my 27th birthday! YIKES! We had a barbeque over at a friends house and a whole bunch of friends came over to celebrate. I got a small digital camera from Daryl, one that we can slip in our pockets and take it wherever we want to. We pretty much partied throughout the day and I enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't get the pinata I wanted but there is always next year. :) Yes I sound like I'm turning ten because I want a pinata.
I also recently had a yard sale to get rid of a lot of crap. I didn't make a lot of money, but I made some and got rid of crap we don't need anymore. It was kind of refreshing to get rid of it all, since most of it was mine. I have this problem with holding onto things that I keep for sentimental value alone. Eventually I have to let it go and I decided that now was the time. Now I miss it all. No I'm kidding. Its nice to have those things gone and room in my closet. I plan on having another one later on in the summer, only this time I'm getting my parents involved as well and seeing how much stuff we can get rid of.

What Happened To Spring?
Because you can't reserve a campsite in the campgrounds that Daryl and his buddies wanted to stay in, Daryl offered to go down early and find one. So Daryl, Me, and Dustee loaded the car up on Thursday April 30th and headed down to Moab. We left at about four in the afternoon and knew that we would probably be pitching a tent in the dark, but figured it wouldn't be that late when we got there. We also figured, that by going down there thursday night, we would be able to find a camping spot. BOY WERE WE WRONG!
Let me just say that the minute there is a weekend with good weather, everybody in the world packs up their campers and heads off to Moab....I KID YOU NOT! We rolled in at about nine o clock that night and I couldn't believe the amount of cars that were with us heading in. IT WAS CRAZY! When I looked over at the campsites at the beginning of town they were all extremely packed, but we still had faith that we could find one somewhere. So we headed down this road that has about six campgrounds, all along the colorado river. The first campground was full, the second campground was full, you get the idea, they were all full. We hoped that the campground we wanted to go to would have some empty spots because it was the farthest one away, but its also the most popular for that reason, so yes it was full as well. Of course we didn't want to give up, there had to be campgrounds that had openings somewhere, so we headed back to town. Remember those first campgrounds I saw at the beginning of town. Half an hour later, when we got back, there were signs up saying that they were completely full...I couldn't believe it. So we drove around town and Daryl said he had a buddy that told him about these very out of the way campsites that no one would know about and would probably be empty. So we went down this road that looked not so nice and headed for the hunt in the dark for these campsites. I thought my husband was crazy because we started heading down this steep, small road that ran along a cliff. I think he has no idea where he is going and is just making things up. Dustee is in the back laughing because when Daryl asks me if I think he is crazy I answer Yes I do. Then I see this headlights behind us and we're in the middle of nowhere and I think..great now someone has come to kill us. (Thats my overactive imagination coming into play. It does that a lot when I'm tired and think my husbands crazy.) We finally reach the bottom of this canyon and find the campground...which I was shocked was even there. But guess what....completely full. Even this one out in the middle of nowhere, where killers follow you down the canyon in the dark, there were already people there.
By this time I'm tired...its eleven, we've been looking for two hours and I don't want to look for a campground anymore. I want to find a hotel and just lay down. So we head back into town to find a hotel to sleep at for the night. Once back in town, there are a lot of hotels......a lot of hotels with NO VACANCY signs lit up! We start checking the ones that don't have the signs on and they are all priced at a hundred dollars or more. We findi this one hotel that looks crappy and cheap...but go figure..its a hundered and twenty dollars a night to stay there.
By now its almost midnight and I'm ready to cry! I'm so mad that the whole idea of sticking around and camping seems like a horrible idea and I'm even considering just driving home that night. So we stop at a gas station to fill up, Daryl calls his buddies who are supposed to be meeting us the next day and tells them to not even bother coming. We hit the road and head back to Green River Utah, forty miles away, and find a hotel there for the night. As soon as we get in and situated, I become a lot happier because I don't have to wonder if we'll find a place and I can go to sleep.
If you had asked me that night if I would go camping or head home, I would have said head home. But come morning, I figured we should at least try one more time to find a campground because we were right there by Arches National Park and Dustee couldn't remember what it looked like, since the last time we were there was when he was just a little kid. So guess what we did? Yes this crazy trio packed up, got back in the car and started looking for another camping spot. We hoped beyond hope that someone would be leaving that morning and we would be able to find a place to camp. So yes we headed back up the same road from the night before and at the first campground, there were three spots open! We decided to push on because we wanted to see if the specific campground we wanted to stay at had any empty campsites. With our luck though, we pulled in seconds behind another group and lost that campsite. So we hurried back to the first campsite and guess what....in the fifteen minutes we were gone, they ALL FILLED UP! Can you believe it?! UGH! So now I'm mad again, until I notice this other couple packing up their van and I ask them if they are leaving. The guy says yes and I tell Daryl, pull in there...even though they were still packing up. HAPPY DAY we got a camp spot. I was so happy I did a happy dance for about an hour. Okay, not really, but I was really happy.
By the end of the day, all of Daryl's buddies were there, camp was set up and we were ready for camping! The next day, we headed into Arches to hike up to the Delicate Arch, you know the really famous arch that looks like a pair of jeans. I didn't take my camera on the hike because it was raining by the time we started hiking and I had no place to keep it dry. OF course, the higher up we got, the less it rained until it stopped. UGH. So I took a few pics from the bottom of the mountain but it was a lot of fun. We had some friends take their cameras with them so I'll see if I can't find those and post a few on here for ya.
An interesting thing that we found out while we were there is that they give night tours up the colorado river. They have this giant spotlight truck that follows them and lights up the sides of the canyon walls while the tour guide gives them a tour. It was crazy! All of a sudden the canyon wall is glowing and we couldn't figure out why. It happened both nights that we were there and it was crazy. I took a few pics of the canyon walls all lit up by the light and I'll post some for ya here.
The guys I went camping with! I was the only girl! Yee haw!!!

Its April?! HOLY COW!
Anyways, there is only a few weeks left of school and its crunch time. YIKES! But I'm kind of excited. See I've been working on a research project all semester long. As a sociology major we are required to conduct our own research project before we can graduate. So that is what I've been doing. Its about the Ideal Mate for men and women and what we think the opposite sex wants, compared to what they really want. If that doesn't make sense, its probably because I've been talking about it for so long now my head is ready to explode. But anyways, Weber State has a Undergraduate Research Conference every spring for Sociology majors to present their work. Not only is it a good experience for you, but it looks really good on your resume AND it looks really good if you want to go on to graduate school. Anyways, I turned in my stuff yesterday and it sounds like I will get to present two weeks from today. YIKES! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Granted it will be in front of students, but there will be professors there as well and you're putting your work out there for all to hear. So its exciting and scary. It just means I'm that much closer to FINALLY getting this all done. If all works out I should be graduating in December of this year, which was my goal since I got back into school. So keep your fingers crossed for me. :)
Anyways, not much else is going on right now. Daryl and I went to see Monsters Vs. Aliens last night and I liked it, Daryl not so much. But thats okay. I'm a kid at heart and I always love those movies. It was nice to go out for a night and not have to think of school work. YEAH!!!
I thought I would let you all know that the bus driver I seem to always have on my way to school is crazy. Its really kind of funny, because there are a lot of students that are taking the public transportation to school and so by the time we're about five miles away from the school, we're crammed in there like a bunch of sardines. At the school there are two round abouts that we need to go around and every time he yells back "HOLD ON!" then I really think he floors it. Because the next thing you know people are screaming and falling into each other and all you can think is I'M GOING TO DIE! And remember there are two, so once we get through the first one, a minute later we're going through the second one. The same thing happens. I've come to a conclusion about this guy, he is crazy and this is his daily entertainment. Granted I'm always sitting so I don't have to hold on for dear life, so it is kind of funny until some stranger ends up in your lap. Oh well, it sure wakes us up in the morning, which may be his whole point. Hmmm...smart man.
Anyways, here are a few pics I've taken using glow sticks liquid. Its actually a lot of fun and I hope you guys like it. TOODLES!!!
