Science is Awesome
Officially, I am a middle school science teacher. Today, I finally determined that science rocks…big time!
We have been studying about symbiotic relationships this week. Today we focused on parasitism. Specifically, we discussed the bot fly. The students really don’t know what you are talking about unless you are able to show them. So, I went in search of videos showing bot flys being removed from the human body. Below are two of the coolest videos I could find that clearly show the larvae being removed.
For the record, we looked at these without sound due to the language that popped up in here.

I believe I have seen the 2nd video in my entomology class in college. NASTY. Sorry. My teacher likened it to a pimple. Um. No.
It is kind of amusing to watch I guess, but not after eating, or anything like that.
