so, I've been thinkin' about this all day:
cy and I have been sickies lately. it started almost 2 weeks ago, cy's has come and gone, but I have still been battling. I've been sick with 3 different things, one right after the other. 2 days ago I started losing my voice. yesterday I couldn't talk at all. well, will wanted to go to "town." even though my throat hurts and I've been coughing all night, I mime, "I'm ok, let's go." and we get in the car and go. (seriously, though, I'm not one to turn down a trip to town.)
and this is what I've been thinkin' about today: we had a great trip, we got along all day, no arguments or disagreements or strong opinion conversations - you know, the ones that end up with me or him saying 'you should think and feel this way because I do.' (usually, ok, always these conversations are about his driving.......he's crazy, really!!)
all day. a great day. did I mention I couldn't talk? all day? what's up with that? :)

thinkin' about it thursday.
the paper boy.
we recently got a new paper boy. no, we aren't subscribed to the newspaper, but we might start.
the first contact with the new paper boy was with my SIL Ashley. she was getting out of her car at my house and the 8, 9, 10? yr. old came up to her and told her he was the new paper boy and gave her his cell phone number along with his mom's cell phone number in case we ever needed anything. he made it a point to tell her to be sure to call his mom's number because she was more reliable. :)
the next monday we started getting a free 2 week trial of the newspaper. so, one day, sometime after school, I'm sitting in our living room with the shades open and I see the paper boy ride his bike ever so carefully up our sidewalk, to the corner of the house. he leans on the corner of the house, straddles his bike, grabs a paper, winds up and baseball-pitches it to my front door four feet away. all the while chattering to himself (pep talk, maybe?) I try so hard not to laugh out loud until he slowly and ever so carefully backs his bike down the sidewalk to the driveway where he turns around and bikes on to the next house.
the new paper boy is awesome - definitely one of the highlights of my day. and I might, just might subscribe to the paper for my daily dose of the paper boy. so worth it.

Thinkin' about it Thursday
I would love to know what goes through Cy's mind.
He often brings his cars (or anything round) to the kitchen floor and plays with them. So, when he brought these two toys out I didn't give a second glance or even realize what he was doing.
A few minutes later, I heard him say, "ahhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhh!"
And, that was when I thought, "what is he doing?"
I looked a little closer and started cracking up when I saw what he was playing with. I quickly grabbed my phone to take a picture, which was luckily in arm's reach. You see, "CARS" is one of our favorite movies. And there is a scene where Lightning McQueen and Mater are tractor tipping and they accidently wake up Frank, who is a combine. Frank chases them around and they narrowly escape. So, the fact that Cy finds a toy combine and his Lightning McQueen car and plays with them to re-create the scene totally blows my mind!
Everyday he makes me smile.......Life does not get any better than this........I love it!

Thinkin' about it Thursday
Man, I hate it when I put something REALLY important in a special spot so that when I need it, it will be easy to find - you know, since it has it's own spot.
I hate it because when I need that special, important thing, I can never remember where I put it, so I end up tearing the house apart.
I get frustrated because I think if I just would have put it in a normal spot with everything else it would be found already and I would be a happier person with more time in a non-torn apart house.
But, unfortunately, I never learn.
