conversations.
i'm lovin' the conversations that are going on between the trains and cars and trucks in our house. it is so much fun to overhear.
{i love the "thank you's" and "your welcome's" that I hear, but not so much the "you're in timeout" or "you're not listening to me!" . . . . . . maybe I say those too much?!?!?!?}
anyhoooooooo, we were playing sticky trains yesterday, and i'm expected to join in on the conversations.  so, i'm "diesel 10" [not diesel #10, like james #5, and not just diesel; it's diesel 10.]  well, diesel 10 gets derailed and i'm wailing in my best train wail voice, "ahhhhhhhh, i've fallen and can't get up!!!" {while i'm snickering}
cy perks right up and says, "rocky can help you!!!!!"
so, not really sure who rocky is, i say, "ok, where is rocky?"
cy saddens his face then says, "(sigh) we don't have rocky."
and then i laughed.  what a smart boy.  guess what cy is getting for christmas.

{love} not having to string lights

{hate} no real tree smell

{love} that if your ornament doesn't fit where you want to put it, you just bend the branch (love that)

{hate} the not-so-unique not-rustic look 

{love} that will loves it 'cause it's way easier to put up.

{hate} that you can see the little pole in the middle

{love} the soft sap-less branches that my kids play with

{hate} that a candle does NOT make-up for the real tree smell (yes, this is a real issue)

{love} that i don't have to vacuum needles every day

{hate} that my living room doesn't get vacuumed as much as it should.

k, so.......my cousin, chelsey, told me about this awesome fry sauce, which i had no idea existed.  then, my good friend, joy, showed up with a bottle at my door step.  {apparently you can buy it at our wal-mart, too!!}  long story short: you are gonna want to get your own tots.  right now.  this stuff is ah-mazing.  i've found heaven.  it's at wal-mart.  thank you girls!!

• "cy!  i am turning this tv off if you don't put your pants on right now!"

• "cy!!  we are not leaving this house unless you put your pants on!!!"  (wait a minute.......there's a trend going on here........)

• "please leave the toilet seat up."

• "no, you can't have a toy.  no, you can't have a toy.  no, you can't have a toy.  which toy do you want?"

• "no, sweetheart, we can't use the funnel to get water out of the fridge door to connect to the crazy straw to fill up your water cup."  {"cause why?!?!?!?"}  "cause the funnel is too big and the straw too small so water will get all over the kitchen floor."  {"nuh-uh, mommy!"}

• "cy......i'd rather you not 'ba-dum-bump-psssshhh' my bum anymore today."  (it may be funny but my bum jiggles.  a lot of jiggling-there can be too much in one day.)

• "ok, cy, no 'ba-dum-bump-psshhhh'-ing in primary.........and keep your pants on in sunbeams."

• 8:00 am. "cy, we don't wear sandals with our socks.  i'll give you some m&m's if you put on your tennis shoes." {"noooooo, mommy, i want to wear these sandals."}  "how about a sucker?"  {"no, thank you."}

• "let's snuggle, allllllll day!"  (this is especially shocking for a huge PSP-er like myself.......Personal Space Person.)

we'll start in the medicine cupboard. as i was reaching for the thermometer this morning, about 3 bottles fell out of the cupboard. time to clean it out!! {i've been thinkin' it needed a good cleaning - for about the last year or so......}
anyhooooo, i'm a hoarder. i have no idea why this applies to medicine as well as everything else in my house, but it does. it's like dangerous, or something, i'm sure.

four-year-old cousin calvin came over to play the other day.  the weather was overcast and windy and cold-ish.  it was mid-morning when calvin came to me and asked if we could get the pool out and swim.  i considered it.  i almost did it.  but then i remembered i didn't have ten-year-olds, i had small children.  small children that get cold easy.  we had SO much fun this summer - even in the backyard, and it's what i've been thinkin' about a lot this week.  one day, cal, we will get the pool out in the freezing cold.

i have a confession.  a shameful confession.
i frequently tell cy that he is my fav-o-rite cy-cy in all the whole world.
i must admit i tell him this because he always answers with, 
"mommy, you're my favorite gurl-la in the whole world."
gurl-la is girl but coming out of cy's mouth sounds a little like gorilla.  which naturally makes me think of gorillas.  and i totally don't mind thinking of gorillas because i'd still be his favorite one.
and you better believe that i am writing this down and i will have it close and i will use it, if needed.  {yes, i am gonna be one of those mo's-in-law.  yikes!}

my favorite-favorite cousin.  {that's better than just favorite.}

this is on our ferry boat ride and it was cold.  but, she still posed for all of my silly pics.
i love katie.  she is like the coolest chick ever.  she orchestrated this whole baseball game trip.  they are huge, HUGE red sox fans and we are huge, HUGE mariners fans.  so it was a good time.

they had actually made nate a half-marniers, half-red sox jersey so he could cheer for whichever team he felt like.  it was lots of fun.  and, there was plenty of ribbing back and forth and, of course, nate-isms.  for instance:  nate - "do you know what you get when you take carp (mariners player) and mix the letters around?  crap!!"
but, then carp would do something awesome and we would say, "take that crap!"
and, it was back and forth all weekend long.  actually, months.  and katie and mckenzie had them coming just as fierce.  awesome.
and then we played around seattle.  have you ever been to the gum wall?  gross.

i laughed all weekend, and it was fun.  i love them.  i miss them.  come back, please!!

next up, i'm thinkin' about fish.
"if ya wanna catch the fish, ya gotta take the risk!" -ashley (when i caught a rock.  again.  it was a very large rock - if that makes a difference.)
