Family Pictures

I was so excited to have some family pictures taken.  Kemry is growing so fast and I wanted to capture this stage of life.  She was so happy for the pictures and did a great job of sitting up by herself and smiling for the camera.  We love her toothless smile and know that it wont last forever.  Kemry's front two bottom teeth have broken through and it wont be long before they are showing.  This little girl loves life and love to play.  Kemry is so active and is always ready to move on to the next thing to play with.  She likes to read books and sometimes even eat them.  She is starting to get more hair too and I can't wait to see what color it will be.  I'm sure Kemry will be crawling before we know it but I love the stage that she is at right now.  She is so curious and always wants to try new food ( whatever Tim and I are eating) and she loves to discover new things.  She pays close attention to things like tags on toys or the small little parts on toys.  It is so fun to watch her try to learn what it is and start to grab things.  We love watching Kemry grow up and can't believe she is 6 months old.  We had a doctors appointment for her at Primary Children's Hospital and she now only has to wear her brace at night.  This is such a blessing so that Kemry will be able to learn to crawl and walk.  She is loving playing with her brace off and loves trying to eat her toes.

Kemry update

Kemry is growing up and it is so fun to watch her. On January 5th we blessed her and that was such an amazing day. Kemry wore my blessing dress and I was surprised that it fit her. We are so thankful for the family that was able to be at the blessing.
Kemry is just over 3 months old
She has started sleeping through the night.
She sleeps in her crib in her own room.
She has started scooting on her back. With her brace she inches across the floor. If she is on the floor when she is asleep she will scoot the whole distance of a bedroom.
Kemry loves to play with toys.
She smiles all the time.
She still loves bath time.
She loves to snuggle with me. She will grab onto my hair and lay on my shoulder. This is her spot, she will cry with Tim but stop crying when I take her.
Her ear curls in and gets stuck sometime. Only her right ear though.
Kemry tries to help hold bottles and often puts her hands on her head when she eats.
She takes a while to wake up having to figure our where she is then stretch.
Kemry looks right at the camera when she hears it making noise.
Kemry smiles when she hears her name.
She coos all the time.
She sucks on her hand and sometimes gets her pointer finger stuck in the corner of her mouth.
Kemry has to wear her brace all the time for the next 3 months and then will just have to wear it at naps and night time. She is doing really well with it though.

Done with casts

Kemry got her cast off a week ago! I was so excited to go down to Utah to finally be done with casts and to move on to braces. As we were at the doctors office waiting to get the cast off and in the process of getting the cast off I noticed a lot of people saying good luck to me. After a couple of people saying this I realized the braces were going to be worse than the cast.
Kemry got the cast taken off and the doctor says that her foot looks really good. Of course it was super dry and she had lots of toe gunk from having a cast on for 7 weeks. Her leg just socked up lotion for days. After getting the cast off she had to get fitted for shoes. There were two other babies ahead of us which I didn't mind because that meant more time Kemry got to kick around. As the other two babies were getting shoes on you could hear them crying, screaming actually and I was starting to get nervous.
Her foot that had been in the cast was super sensitive. If you touched it she would pull it away or if it rubbed against your shirt she would cringe or cry. This was not good since we were going to now put a shoe on as tight as possible. Finally it was our turn to get shoes. Kemry got fitted and wears the smallest shoe size they make 0000 N. Her foot is long and skinny. Her foot is actually too long for the shoe, but the shoe is also too wide. The doctor showed us how to put the shoes on that took like ten minutes for each shoe. She promised us that it would get easier but she said her hands were really sore from putting the shoes on 3 babies in one day. Kemry did ok getting the shoes on, good thing we had a bottle or she would have been screaming like the babies before us. Kemry got thick hospital socks to try and keep her from getting blisters. Blisters something that didn't even cross my mind with getting new shoes. Then we were told it will take her a week to get used to the shoes! After 30 minutes of information from the doctor we were on our own.
Lets just say the car ride home was rough. There is a bar that clips onto her shoes and we were told we could take that off since we had a long car ride if we needed to. Well we needed to, Kemry cried the whole drive home, even with the bar taken off she still cried. Kemry didn't fall asleep until 4 in the morning, she had gotten the shoes on at noon. Finally at 4 I gave in and said just take the shoes off, nothing was working and I was so tired after trying to stay up with her and just let her sleep on my chest. It has taken her a week to get used to them. She doesn't cry when we put them on and the red blisters and pressure spots are starting to look a lot better. Also we are excited we don't have to go back to primary childrens until the end of January!

Things they don't tell you when your child has club foot.
*don't put your baby on a sleeping schedule. By this point Kemry was only waking up once a night which was wonderful. Now with these shoes we were supposed to wake her up every 2_3 hours to take the shoes off to check for blisters. So much for her sleeping schedule. We did this for the first few days but now the blisters are going away have decided to try and get her back on the sleeping schedule.

*stock up on thick socks that have grippers on the bottom that are tall enough they won't fall down. Kemry has really small feet but all of the socks that fit her don't have the grippers on the bottom. I wish I would have known this before hand so I could have been prepared.

* always take the shoes off before changing a poopy diaper! It just makes life easier.

Kemry at 2 months old:
Kemry loves bath time. She loves sitting in the water kicking her legs. She cries every time we take her out of the bath.
When she gets breaks from her shoes she just kicks and kicks and kicks.
She holds her head up really well.
She has started sucking on her fist.
She has started cooing.
She smiles a lot.
She has started noticing toys and watching them.
Kemry loves to snuggle.
She loves looking at lights.
Kemry started drooling.
She likes to sit looking forward.
And Tim wants to add she is always gassy!

11 more days

I love that this girl likes to cuddle. Nothing gets better than her falling asleep as I just snuggle with her in a blanket.
On Monday we found out that her surgery went really well. When they took the cast off I was a little worried because you could still see where they cut and under the cut was a bruise. If you ask me it was huge, if you ask Tim it wasn't that big. The doctor said that it looked really good though. He said that normally after the surgery their heal looks a lot worse. I'm so thankful that everything went well and hopefully she doesn't have to have any more surgeries. She got one more cast in and it will be on for two weeks. This means Monday will be the first time we won't go to primary childrens in 6 weeks. I'm so excited to just stay home and enjoy not being in the car. Only 11 more days of this cast and I can't wait for her to be able to kick her leg again.
While we were down in Utah Tim got tickets to the jazz game. I really didn't want to take kemry and even tried giving Lloyd the tickets, but he had to study for finals. So Tim convinced me to just take Kemry. I was worried about not having space to feed her and if she got fussy. However they were box seats and Tim told me there would be plenty of room so I gave in. It was a fun night out even though the jazz lost. I can't believe all the places that we have taken Kemry but she really does well when we take her out. She slept before the game and was wide awake through the whole thing. She loves looking at lights and there were sure lots of lights. She slept will that night from 10:30 - 5:45. I think that we wore her out.
She is getting better at being on a schedule though. She goes to bed around 9 gets up to eat around 3 and then sleeps until 7. I'm starting to like this constancy so that Tim and I can also get some sleep.
