New Year Eve 2010

Time flies, I can actually still recall what I did for Christmas and New Year count down last year. This year is full of busy-ness, worrying, travelling, and non-the-less, blessings. I was reading my previous new year Eve posts, and noticed that I actually expected something for this year, now I can answer them one by one (sweetness of blogging, looking back at yourself).

Academically, although it's not really all by myself, I believe it's the prayers of so many others, all glory to God! Expecting myself to get a second upper or lower, God really gave me a big bang shock, I did better than that. However, I thought 18 years of student life has finish... seems like there's more.

Finally a real graduation picture.

Thought that I'll never see Nottingham Uni and Nilai UC people again, partly true coz I'm still stuck around the area, but some people leave, new people come and some remain. The research colleagues are not totally new, we used to play badminton together (and still are). These people are so much more awesome than real working colleagues.

PhD research colleagues:

Haha, I was saying that I'm not ready for relationship, and it's still true. I won't say there's advancement, I'm still single. But I appreciate that I actually grow more mature in this part (I think). Anyhow, I have so many great pals that I called darlings~ damn good companions.

Some of the great people:
Image Image

Well, am still attending Cheras Baptist Church sometimes. Didn't serve that often anymore, just played for Christopher & Stephanie's wedding and Christmas service. However, I'm glad that ConneXion and CF group are pretty much on track now. The Christmas Event in uni this year are the combined effort of both sides, and I'm really proud of them.

I guess it's better to let new people take up the praise and worship but it's kinda sad that I actually played a lot worse than before. Well, something that I'm happy about is I did 1,2... 3 new songs (just check it at my sidebar). I didn't mean I wrote new songs, still playing with arrangement and mash up, but I'm glad enough with those.

Travelling? Hehe, not counting the Singapore that's expected, I actually made it to Klang and Ipoh. Some new place that I added to my list of "I've been to". The biggest challenge lies in this coming year, that I'll be transferring to Nottingham, UK for 18 months. I hope it'll be a great experience.

The future is unknown:

Lord, sorry for all the sins that we have committed, yet, You never fail us. It's another year of witnessing Your glory and great work among us. Truly a year of change, and a year of blessings. I pray that you will continue to be with us in anything that we do. Bless our studies, research, CF, and ConneXion. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Tenji for Lunch

I was celebrating Joseph Heng's birthday and had fun til 5 am this morning. As I planned to have a rest til afternoon, it was interrupted by the ConneXion people that urged me to go to Tenji for lunch. It was suppose to be tomorrow but seeing that it's a public holiday, we're going today. *I wanna sleep X_X*

Arrive at Tenji:

Seriously, I'm not aware that such high class place exist in Malaysia. All the high class place for food, super good looking restaurant, it's all in Mont Kiara. The food variety is not as many as I imagined, but it's good enough to burst me up.

All the variety:

It's actually quite rare to have a buffet in West Malaysia, but I just had so much food last night >_< don care la... I really really love the meat, the grill lamb and the beef~ Awww!!! Sushi was so so, siu mai was amaazing, I wonder why they keep on taking coconut but it's not bad too. Aw~ I hope I won't bounce back to 86 kg.

We sat there from 1 pm til 4 pm, seriously can't make a move anymore. After some shopping around the area, we're heading home. I thought I'll be the one who snoozed off since I don't have enough rest, but who knows the others just shut down for almost the whole trip.

Sleeping almost the whole way back:

Praise the LORD for all the wonderful fellowship and blessings of food for these few days. I pray that we will receive the blessings to face this coming year. The future is unknown, but by keeping the faith, all fears are cast away. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Christmas Week of 2010

I'm so grateful that I had a week off from research work before Christmas. Stephanie asked me to play the piano for her special performance, as well the worship team on Christmas service led by Christopher and also Sunday service led by Wilson.

Since there won't be time on Saturday, the practices are on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Rushing over to Cheras in the evening is still OK, but rushing back to Semenyih by train is not fun at all, especially after the tiring and stressful practices.

Practice at Cheras Baptist:

For Christmas Eve, Uncle Rodney invited us to his house at Subang. We helped out preparing the toast and spaghetti, good time chatting with the other students from New Era and TARC too. After that, the other ConneXion members stayed overnight but I need to go to church for early practice the next day.

Christmas Eve dinner:

Well, I don't really have enough rest the night before, woke up a little late for practice even though I'm sleeping in church. There are a lot of special item, saxophone, strings, dance... It's either I'm thinking too much or that I stopped too long, it just doesn't sound good for me.

Christmas service:

Me and Legend went straight to Low Yat after service, to retrieve his repaired laptop. We continued Christmas shopping at Mid Valley for some gifts, and some good food too. I'm not really the shopping type, but some how spending some time outside with Legend did cheer me up a bit.

Oh Lord, despite the burdens and discouraging moments, draw me close to You. Guide me if there is something that I need to understand and accept, or things that need a change to restore the gift. All glory and honour to be Yours only, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Hark The Herald Angel Sing

First of all, merry Christmas to everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas although I kinda had a tough day. Anyway, I really was working with this Christmas project for my playlist, hoping I will be able to complete it by Christmas day itself.

Hark the Herald Angel Sing, a very common song for Christmas. For those who don't know the song, you'll probably go "Oh!!!! This song!!!" after listening to the first line. The lyrics is written by Charles Wesley as a poem in 1739 (Gosh... the Amazing Grace era). The music is later compose by Felix Mendelssohn in 1840.

Oh ya, let's have a slight introduction here. Charles Wesley is the brother of Methodist church founder, John Wesley. He actually wrote more than 6000 hymns. Felix Mendelssohn is a German composer, pianist, organist, conductor during early Romantic period.

I actually took 3.5 days for the music, and another 1.5 days for the vocal. This time, it's totally pianoless (not using piano voice in the song at all). It's kinda like 80's 90's rock and I rearranged the song for some different taste (as usual). Oh ya, there's a little mashing in this song, but I won't consider this a WindMash, since I'm playing more on rearranging the song.

It's actually due to recent research of some guitar chords, that I finally understand the concept of power chords. I think I extensively abuse electric guitar power chords in this song, but I seriously like that Bon Jovi rocking style XD

Thank You Lord once again for giving Your only son to die for us on the cross. Although we are unworthy, but still You forgive the sins that we bear. Pray that it would be a marvelous year ahead of us as we march into a new chapter of life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Humbug Christmas Production

There's a Christmas musical play in First Baptist Church, Subang. Wen Shan is invited by Uncle Rodney and he asked me and Joseph along. After the torturing semester, I actually think it's good to have some fun with them, coz everytime we met is about CF stuffs or ConneXion, so stress la.

Lunch and A&W Connaught:

Prayer did work, we finally reach FBC Subang safe and early. We are waiting for Uncle Rodney as he's holding our ticket while exploring around the church. it's really a big church, looks like mandarin is the main language used. Uncle Rodney arrived with a few students from TARC, and there we go enjoying the show.

In the church auditorium:
Image Image

Seriously, as it starts, I really felt like watching a movie, it's really that good. When they sing, I thought it was pre-recorded, but it's really their voice singing live. It's about a mean and selfish man, and how God work in his life and change his inside out, becoming a generous and caring person. We really got inspired, but we can never reach that level =.=

Humbug musical play:

After the show, we have a chance to talk with some of the crew. It's so amazing to know that the main actor, Dave Brown used to study music in Liberty University and graduated. The whole crew is actually a few families, it feels awesome to have musically talented family members and serve together.

Taking picture with Dave Brown and the crew:

After that, we had an early dinner with Uncle Rodney and the new friends at Empire Chili's. They are not believer yet, but I believe God will work it out. Have a good time talking with them (being Chinese educated does help). On the way back, it's another good time of sharing between 3 of us, I seriously appreciate their existence in my life.

It is truly a blessed day of outing with the other 2 CF members. I pray that this trip will actually play a part in our future, not only the musical play, but also the things that we shared. Remind us of this wonderful moment that You had bless us, and that we will be a blessing to each others too. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

2010 ConneXion Year End BBQ

The semester just flash by so fast, it's the semester end BBQ again. After work, I made my way back to ConneXion house, the others already started preparing since the day before. The kitchen was kinda crowded, the others are either cleaning or starting the fire.

All the preparation works:
Image Image

I actually started a fire pit, but it was not under the roof, and it's kinda drizzling. It's kinda cool to start a fire under the rain, sitting there with Dian Han under an umbrella. I was praying hard for good weather. The rain stopped and the weather is chilling cool ^_^ Perfect condition for an outdoor event.

Get the food out:

One thing that I'm very glad about is, there's a lot of CF people who joined us. Although they have CG later, they didn't mind dropping by before the event and mingle around. I actually went over to CG just for the worship session since Benjamin is leading worship for the first time, gonna support him.

Worship session in CG:

When I'm back again, wow... there's already so many people. They just finished worship too, doing ice breaker games. I guess everyone's having fun playing games, taking pictures, eating and of course talking with each other. It actually lasted til 10pm or 11pm until most of the people left, and we start packing up.

Ice breaker games:

Legend, David and me took a walk in the chilling night, then David continue his way back to hostel. When both of us got back home, aw... we just realize there's a lot of clean up work to do. I guess the others are back in bed. Well, they worked hard before the event after all. Me and Legend cleaned up til 3am :P

Thank You Lord for blessing the undergrads to make it through the semester, completing their assignments and reports. Also thank You for the clear weather, that really make us believe You are so marvelous. I pray that we would have healthy body and mind during the study week and also exam week. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Car Accident in Front of Uni

After gift exchange session in ConneXion weekly meeting, I met up with Wei Ern on campus and plan to go home together (Gosh... the com lab is as crowded as ever of people rushing for assignments).

It was around 11 pm when we drove out at the uni guard house and reachc the T-junction of traffic light. Suppose to take the right turn, Wei Ern noticed something's on the left. A Kancil is turned 90 degree lying on the road, and someone is crawling out from it.

A car accident in the middle of the night:
Image Image

There's nobody there except 4 malay kids from the car (the eldest one seems to be 12, yes... illegal driving), a motorcyclist who witnessed the accident and us. The motorcyclist is actually kind enough to stop by and help them out, although still scolding them along the process.

The kids are from Taman Tasik Semenyih, and they overturned the car from the opposite lane. 2 of them got swollen eye, the driver dislocated his right shoulder and minor bleeding at his head. Thanks God there's no lost of life. Anyway... the Kancil looks pretty damaged, from the inside out.

The damaged car:
Image Image

Both of us helped moving the pieces (broke glass, tire, rim) out of the road, it might cause some damage to the passing cars, another community service between both of us :P We knew that they felt very bad, what we can do is to comfort them a bit (although we knew they'll be in great trouble when their parent comes).

Until we realize, the police had arrive (quite fast I would say). We asked them to contact the ambulance as well coz the kid needs treatment. Well, seeing that the place get more crowded, and everything seems to be under control... we better make a move before our car is fully blocked.

The pieces that we moved and the coming cars:
Image Image

Creepy enough, there was actually a car accident that involve 2 students from our uni at this very same place. The situation is very similar, it's also an overturn from the opposite lane to this lane and there's one death. I really think we need to pray for this place.

"Go in peace. Your journey has the LORD’s approval."
-Judges 18:6
-

This reminds me how important it is to pray for journey mercy when we're on the road. Lord, I pray that you keep the students that are having busy schedules safe and also healthy as they prepare for the coming exam. Also pray for a clear weather on Thursday night as ConneXion will be having year end BBQ party and Benjamin Ong will be leading worship in CG for CF. In Jesus I pray, Amen.
