Has anyone tried using the arturia Beatstep as a controller?
At the moment I can't get it to work, but it's probably the fault of my eme configuration...
I want to work in focus mode.
I configure Beatstep encoders on ch2 , cc22 to cc37 Absolute , the pads in same channel cc70 to cc85 Toggle.
The feedback works wen I touch the buttons on eloquencer, but if I press a pad in beatstep nothing happens in Elo...
Hi @ablektro !
Have you configured the Rotary type in Eloquencer ? in FUNC + MIDI (hold) > MIDI IN > Contr. rotary type > Focus CC > 'Step value in focus' 'Absolute'
Additionally:
FUNC + MIDI (hold) > MIDI IN > CC Control : Yes (depending on the version)
Can you configure the BSP buttons different from 'toggle' ? maybe push ?
Thanks for your response!
Hi @ablektro !

Yes, do it
Additionally:
FUNC + MIDI (hold) > MIDI IN > CC Control : Yes (depending on the version)
I don't see in the menu

I try to configure the buttons in toggle and gate but nothing changes.
Feedback works , but knobs and pads don't work... it's strange because I think it's ease... 🙄
Now I try to connect with BTP midi out DIN5 to EME midi in and knobs & pads works (but no feedback of course!) but knobs make some jump in the first touch...
I don't know wy doesn't work with usb.
Hi @ablektro ,
I don't know... 😕 USB works on other devices.
Is the BSP powered externally , right ? (not from USB)
Have you tried the same configuration (USB) with another device ?
The jump on rotary depends on the type of control that BSP is sending.. You need to configure EME accordingly. (absolute, incremental...)
@wintermodular Hi I am also having issues with the Beatstep Pro. It is being powered via the Eloquencer. No midi info seems to be getting into the EME whatsoever via the USB port. Everything works fine with the Expert Sleepers FH2 so I know the beta step pro isn't at fault.
Also I want to be able to trigger all the drums from midi notes over one channel, rather than one channel per voice (usually over channel 10, as per every other drum sequencer I've used).
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Tom
@wintermodular Hi just to confirm the unit works with my native instruments keyboard, so it must be an issue with the BSP.
Also just to clarify - most midi controllers do not let you easily change channel on the fly, so having one midi channel per track can't work (the native instruments M32 can't even change midi channels at all, it's stuck on channel 1). Also, for me the whole point of having the midi connectivity is to be able to play all the drums at the same time (either in free play or to capture a groove that I play in live - I don't need CV and if I was just going to program one track at a time I would do that from the eloquence front panel). In the FH-2 expert sleepers midi setup I just set all the triggers to respond to 1 specific midi channel and translate 8 notes to the 8 triggers. This allows me to play or sequence all tracks at the same time and also pass through the midi for auditioning/jamming. Please see the attached screen grab!
Surely this is possible with the Eloquencer via Midi in? If not, can this be added to the firmware please? It's a pretty essential function!
Thanks,
Tom
@tommyf
Right now there is no possibility to record/free play different tracks with different notes, same channel.
The only possibility to keep the same channel is to change MIDI IN REC to focus CH-'X' and use track button to change the track, but, of course, you can't record more than one channels simultaneously. (In the upcoming update there is the possibility to record polyphony with one track but it is not useful for rhythms)
Will study the possibility to add this feature, but I can't promise it will be done for the next update.
@wintermodular Heya, thanks for your reply!
Ok no worries, it would be great in the future if you can get to it, as now it means having to buy a whole midi interface just for the unit so I don't end up triggering everything else across all the channels! Appreciate it is a lot of work though, so much appreciated.
Thanks!
Tom
