And the question is.....

Image??????? Pink or Blue?????????
That's right, the hubby and I are having a baby!!! We are due on July 17, 2010, and we could not be more excited! I have not been sick at all (although that would have been a terrific excuse for why I have not posted in such a long time). The truth is that we've been out of town every single weekend since my last post (except 1...this past weekend). During the week, I'm too tired to do anything after we catch up on the laundry and cleaning we miss on the weekends..... I think we feel like we better go see everyone now (a LOT) since we probably won't travel as much next year with a 5 month old! At least, not if I have anything to do with it....every weekend for 8 out of 9 weeks straight is a little extreme :-)
We are almost already 10 weeks along, and I must say that my sweet husband has been so wonderful through this whole experience!!! We found out that we were having a baby on Fischer's very first day at home.... Needless to say, that was a lot at once. Kevin said..."Ok, that gives me 8 months to train him to be a very good puppy..." and training he has done, along with dishes, laundry, vacuuming, Christmas decorating, and pretty much all the stuff I should be doing, but I'm too tired to do. He's such a champ, and I'm hoping to have my energy back soon, so that I can give him a break!!!! I don't know what I would do without him...well, I do know that I would probably not have a job due to not getting up; live in a filthy house, have no clean clothes, and have a very disobedient puppy :-) Thank the Lord for husbands!!!!

Dreaming of Tomorrow

Well, I'm sitting here at work, hoping that the day passes by quickly because as of this afternoon....I'm on vacation for a week!!!!!!!! Earlier this year...we planned this trip with some friends. We've done quite a bit of traveling with these friends, but they've been telling us for years that we needed to go to one specific place. Well, we decided we would go with them in November (which at the time seemed like forever away). I can't believe it's finally here, and we are off to ST. JOHN tomorrow!!!! I can honestly say that I'm pretty sure I will not want to come home at the end of this week. We have heard so much about this place that I cannot wait to see what paradise looks like in person!!!!ImageImageImage

My Little Fischer

Image
Well, folks...this is what I've been up to this weekend!
ImageWe have been having so much fun with the newest member of our family - Fischer.

We drove 9 hours yesterday. We had to go pick up the little guy in McDonough, GA and come all the way back home. We were all pretty sleepy when we got back!
Image
We are now in the full swing of potty & crate training. Today was better than yesterday - that's about all I can say about that!

That's all for now!

Welcome to Mac World

Well, I did it. I made the plunge! The result?
Image
So far, my new mac has been a pleasure! I stayed up far too late last night trying to upload all of my pictures and saved info from my cd backups of my old computer. This takes a very long time. Unfortunately, because my computer was failing when the backups were made (i.e. I would make a cd and the computer would crash....it would finally start back up...I'd make another CD...and so on...) not all of the information on them is "readable." My poor mac is having a hard time with that, but other than that - we're very happy together :-)

What We've Been Up To

Well folks, we had a computer crash...the 3rd one this year!!!! My laptop crashed this summer (I got it reformatted), my desktop crashed about a month ago (I'm getting rid of it), and my laptop crashed again last week! ARGH! So, right now, I'm looking into buying a new computer. No small task. I'm actually being lured in by the new 13" Macbook Pro.

Image
I've never seen myself as a Mac owner, but the more I research, the more I like them. My brother and sisters all have them, and I must say that - from what I've seen - they are pretty neat computers. Does anybody out there have one? Do you love it as much as my siblings do????
Our Bible Study went over to Amanda's house the other night and carved pumpkins.

Matt and Angela skillfully carved their very large pumpkin.

Image
Jeremy and Sandra carved a pumpkin for Baby Colton - despite the fact that it was a very sweaty pumpkin. All Colton really wanted to do was check out the stem though :-)

Image
Amanda showed us all up with her Martha Stewart pumpkin :-)

Image
And Kevin and I carved our spider web pumpkin!

ImageWe had so much fun!

Since I don't have a computer at home right now, we've been getting a lot done around the house! The past 2 nights, we worked in the living room. This was the result.
Image Don't let it fool you...hanging pictures in a straight line is no small task. There are quite a few extra holes in the wall behind those pics :-) They are black and white pictures that I took in Europe of the London Eye, Westminister Abbey, the Colosseum, and the Eiffel Tower. I love them (here's a closeup). Image
Image I really love my curtains! I think they make the room feel more home-y! I took the red out of my rug. They are not the exact same color red, but they compliment one another very well....at least I think so!

On a different note, there's only a few more weeks before one of these rascals comes home with us! YAY!!!!!

Cloudy with a Chance of Blah!

It has been nothing but cloudy and rainy lately, and I can't help but feel a little blah and depressed. First of all, I HATE cold weather, and I know it's coming! I also feel like I haven't seen the sun in weeks...I'm a sunshine kinda' girl! Oh, how I wish I were in a place that looked like this:
Image
On another note: Kevin and I are playing Rec League Volleyball this year and having a blast! Last night we won 5 out of 6 games! The one downfall to this is that it's every Wednesday from 6-10pm....it makes for a pretty long night, and it's always really hard to get up the next day! Other than that we have a blast! Here's a picture of the team...minus me :-) We are a pretty diverse group!

A Little Bit of This...A Little Bit of That

Click HERE to see our PUPPY @ 2 WEEKS OLD!!!
(We still don't know which one he is, but they are all precious!)

In other news:
Auburn is winning...we've been enjoying this football season very much!
Image I've been doing some decorating recently...remember what our kitchen nook used to look like??? Let me remind you...

Image

Here's the new and improved version....ImageThese were heavily debated curtains. I have had my eye on them at Lowe's for the past few months. I could not decide if they were "Pottery Barn Floral" or "Old Lady Floral" :-) I finally decided that I really liked them and snatched them up! As I hand them to the slightly elderly redneck cashier, she says "I used to have this pattern all over my house, and it took forever to get rid of it all." ....My thoughts, "Oh no, If she is ridding her house of this pattern, WHY am I bringing it into mine..am I making a terrible mistake?????" End Result: I love them :-)

Stay tuned for fun with lots of picture frames! I'm going to be hanging LOTS of pictures soon (mostly black and whites from our Europe trip).

We've also bee doing a LOT of this recently.... ImageNot sure why there is no que or balls on the table, but we've been playing a lot of pool! We bought a pool table and it resides in our garage (NOTE: this is a very different pool table that is much nicer than the one we purchased...and that is NOT our garage:-) This picture was actually taken on a mountain retreat we went on with the other couples in our Bible Study...here are some more shots from that weekend!ImageImageImageImageImageImageThe cabin was right on the Ocoee River in Tennessee - we had a lot of fun, but we shared unknown stomach flu germs with each other all weekend and upon returning home 6 out of 9 of us got sick!!!! Here's a picture taken at the cabin which I believe may have been a glimpse into the very near future for most of us!

We are all feeling better now, thank goodness, and loving the beautiful fall weather! Happy Fall!

Sit Back and Work

This weekend was wonderful! Do you know why? That's right folks, we did "Nothing" :-) Well, as close to nothing as it gets in the Watts household (all that really means is that we didn't go out of town).

On Friday evening, our Sunday School Class had our monthly social at Top of the River in Guntersville. It's a fishcamp restaurant. We ate well and had a great time fellowshipping with about 40 of our favorite people!

Saturday morning began our (somewhat unsuccessful) "Strike." I did as little cleaning as possible and sat down to watch some football. Kevin had one of his electricians come over and finish up replacing all of our switches, plugs, and plate covers. We had begun the big transition from cream to white - and he came to complete the work. I love how fresh the white ones look now! I was too lazy to take pictures, but it looks better - trust me! While they were working, Kevin got up and started painting the trim in our stairwell - a task that has been hanging over our heads for a while now. I had no idea just how grimey our spindles were until they got that fresh coat of paint!

I think that Kevin's inspiration came from this little guy born on September 16, 2009. ImageWe will be picking him up in November, and we have a lot of work to do before he gets here to distract us for good!
I got up and decided to work on our computer problems for a "little while." Our wireless network and printers have not been working properly lately and our desktop completely died - and I'm the techy of the house. Five hours later (2 of which were spent on the phone with some foreign technical assistant) I was cursing the computer for ruining my "Sit Back and Relax" Day! I know, I know....it was my own fault, but I'm so OCD that I did not want to quit working on it until it was finished. My wonderful hubby helped me walk away from the mess and relax for a little while before we went to some friends house to watch the Auburn game. All-in-all it was a good day - even though my printers still did not work at the end of it and computer parts were flung about the office :-)

For the first time in about 2 months we got to go to Sunday School this weekend, and I really enjoyed the "new" study that they are doing. I say "new" because they are already on week 8 - oops! Sunday afternoon was another laid back afternoon. In a very calm way, I got my printers back into working order (although not wirelessly as I had planned - it'll do!) and cleaned up the office. I even hung a picture that I've been wanting to hang for a while now! Kevin and I decided to do a little more painting in the stairwell, and then we sat back to begin our Netflix -Season 5 of House - one of our favorites!
As I laid in bed last night, I got a little overwhelmed thinking about all the little things that I fill my life with - doing - going - working. I realized that none of it means anything if I don't do it all to the glory of God! That's why we are here - to bring Him Glory. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..." He created me with a purpose and a plan for my life. Sometimes I need to be reminded of that important promise - especially when I find myself consumed in the little things and lacking a feeling of purpose. My prayer today is that I would live my life (however insignificant it may seem at times) to the glory of the One who made me!
Hope you all have a great week!

Busy, Busy, Tired

Well, I've been working, having company, and going out of town recently! To put into perspective how busy we've been, we haven't been to our Sunday School class in about 9 weeks I think...I've lost track. They've been doing a study on Love and Respect. We even bought the book and have not gotten to go to one lesson! I've heard it's good :-) Some of you may think that I'm not getting out of bed on Sunday mornings. That is not the case. I do plan to return to Sunday School this coming weekend, and I hope nobody thinks we're new!

I'm actually too tired to blog right now and my camera has been dead for a while now (and I've had no time to charge the battery), so if you'd like to see some of the the fun things that we've been up to recently, please visit my friend, Amanda's blog. She's so good at updating! I am not nearly as attentive to my blog. I really like reading blogs way more than writing blogs...I think that's called being a stalker :-) Oh well! Hope all of you are doing well! Maybe I'll get some blogging inspiration soon! Until then - I'll be on my couch (when I'm not at work or out of town).

Coming Together...

Well, we've been doing some shopping for the house recently. I got a little distracted from my guest bedroom shopping just long enough to buy this beautiful rug from Pottery Barn! I have had my eye on this rug for a long time! I even remember talking about it in a previous post! It went on sale, and I discovered that I didn't need the largest size...all of that working together - I got it!!!! Here are some picture below (the pics are blurry, but they were taken early morning - not the best time of day for me or for photography in this room:-)

Image

I have also got all the stuff for my guest bedroom laying around in piles. I got the bedding which I discussed at the end of this post, and I was able to find polka dotted sheets for much cheaper than the ones shown (yay!). I now have to go pick out a pretty mustardy-yellow color to paint the room, and we can get started! I'm excited to see what it will end up looking like.
As for what we've been actually doing to the house lately, we've hung pictures, hung curtains in the master, and finished installing all our door hardware (better late than never, right?). Pictures to come... Kevin is in the process of ordering white switches/outlets and covers, and (I hope) he's going to get someone to install those for us!
Side Note: I also got my painting (which I bought in Paris) back from the Hobby Lobby frame shop, and I cannot wait to hang it up...I think it's going in the foyer.
I feel like the little engine that could as far as settling in to our house goes - I think I can, I think I can...slowly, but surely it's coming right along.

Mattress Mania

So, we've been trying to slowly but surely get our 2nd guest bedroom ready. We have never had room for a 2nd guest bedroom; therefore, we had zero stuff to put in said bedroom. It is for this reason, I have been hunting good deals on bedroom furniture recently! I found an iron headboard for a mere $20 at a thrift store. The plan right now is the paint it black and have black and white bedding with yellow walls - some inspiration...

Image

{Picture black iron headboard rather than drapery}

Image
Image

Anyways, that's the plan at least.... Next, I tracked down a bed frame to attach to my steal of a headboard for $24 at a different thrift store. So far, I had the parts for the bed frame and spent under $50! Not bad!

Next comes the mattress. I've been shopping around for a while checking out the least expensive mattresses in town. Apparently, there is a forever sale going on in Mattress Land, because nobody had truly great sale prices, and yet they all had HUGE "SALE" signs in their windows. I found a store I was comfortable with, and took Kevo over there yesterday to help me decide.

I must say that mattress shopping is one of those awkward experiences in life. This experience is so awkward that Hollywood even feels the need to capture it. Yesterday I was reminded of the movie "Two Weeks Notice." The scene where Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock discuss the optimum level of mattress tension...I laugh every time I picture Hugh Grant bouncing around on the mattress telling her to "Have a bounce." I'm also reminded of House when Wilson is shopping for a mattress.

Image

First of all, there is always a salesman breathing down your neck...waiting...on edge...

ImageHow are you supposed to truly test a mattress in the first place???? Do you want the 2 other customers in the store to know that most nights, you end up sleeping like this....

Image...so no matter how great these mattresses are, you'll probably still have back pain?

Or do you take the opportunity to make the other couple uncomfortable and start spooning?

ImageNo, you usually just lie side by side on your backs, and therefore have no idea what the mattress will actually feel like!

Well, luckily this was just a guest bed, so we tested a few and decided pretty quickly on the next to cheapest mattress in the store which was far better than the cheapest

It is my hope that our guests feel like this...

Image

rather than this...

Image Now it's time to start looking for some bedding!!!

UPDATE:

I found this beautiful bedding on EBay for a pretty affordable price! It's reversible, and I think I like that idea...that way my guest room won't always look the same! NOTE: That headboard looks a lot like mine...I bet mine was cheaper though!Image

I also found these adorable black and white polka dot sheets to go with it (the ones pictured are not included...)! Too bad they are almost as expensive as the comforter set!!!

Puppy Love

Ready or not, here comes a puppy!!!! Kevin and I are well on our way to having our very first pet, and I am SOOOOO excited! We have been wanting a dog since we got married over 3 years ago. However, we wanted a larger dog, and our living space has not been conducive to having a big dog until now, yay! We've put a deposit down on a male chocolate lab puppy from Brassbrigade Labradors in McDonough, GA. Here are pics of the mom (Charlie) and dad (Brody)...

ImageImage
...and....I couldn't resist -baby pictures of Charlie - the mom.

ImageImage

Unfortunately, puppy will not be ready for pick-up until mid-November! That gives us 4 months to think of some great names. We really like short names. Here are some possibilities:

Our Top Picks (so far):
Buddy
Bo
Huck
Others We Like:
Ray (I won't use this one, Amanda, but I do like it)
Jack (in honor of Michael Jackson - JUST KIDDING...I do like the name Jack, though)
Please send any name suggestions you might have - we'd love to hear them!
UPDATE:
Some other names I've found today are:
Shug
Jake
Chaco (too cutsie? maybe...)
Sam (after Samford Hall @ AU)
Sawyer
