Henry took his first steps on January 4th, just shy of turning eleven months old on the 9th. He has not slowed down since then! His favorite activities include ransacking his big sister’s doll house, sneaking into the office to play with markers, banging on his drum, and climbing to the top of the playground at Landa Library. Henry continues to be a happy guy and has made friends with several BSF volunteers who gladly rock him to sleep every Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
These were taken in early December. The usual photo on the bed was not working with this busy boy, so I took a few in his room instead.
His beautiful big sister wanted to join the photo shoot, too. Elsa is 3 1/2 years old here.
Henry has changed so much this month, and continues to have a sweet, laid-back personality. He has battled a few little colds and viruses in addition to teething, but it hasn’t slowed him down much. We have been busy hiding floor lamps and crayons from our fast-crawling little guy.

Matt and I took our kids to Family Camp earlier this month at Laity Lodge. It was a wonderful weekend in one our favorite places, and Elsa and Henry were worn out with plenty of fresh air and play time. A few of these pictures below were taken across the river from camp, in a beautiful tree house. Elsa and I also had fun decorating a pumpkin while the boys napped. Mostly, we were too busy to take photos!
These photos were taken at the beginning of October, and this little guy continues to grow up so quickly. He is at such a fun and exhausting age. A few fun facts about Henry in his eighth month:
I took this six weeks ago, and am just now posting it. It has been a busy couple of months! This photo sums up our easy going, hair-pulling baby Henry (and his silly sister).
Henry is six months old! He continues to be such a joy, and – unlike his cautious sister – loves to smile at nice strangers who stop to squeeze his chubby thighs. Yesterday, he weighed in at 21 pounds 7 ounces at the pediatrician’s office and is 28 1/2 inches tall. We have started feeding Henry solid food, but he doesn’t seem too crazy about it. He continues to nurse every three hours during the day, goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:30, and wakes for a quick feeding around 5 am. After letting him cry it out last month, he finally gave up his “social hour” every evening: waking up about an hour after going to bed. We’re all glad to be finished with that battle! Matt and I still cannot believe how happy and easy going he is. And no one can make him laugh like his silly big sister.

Look at these eyes! This little guy is such a joy. Henry has been very busy this month babbling, belly laughing, rolling over, and chewing on his hands and feet. We are convinced that Henry is the easiest baby – until bedtime. He is eager to hang out with the rest of the family and does not like to go to bed early. We’re working on that!
I am starting to see Henry and Elsa’s relationship develop. She has been a little loud (and rough) this week, and I’ve been working with her to stay calm around her brother. I was in the middle of correcting her for jumping and yelling in Henry’s face yesterday, when he let out the loudest string of giggles. I stand corrected.
Henry Justus is four months old (as of yesterday). He continues to be such a laid back, happy baby who brings so much joy to our family. He is very ticklish and loves to smile at his sister. Henry weighed 18 lbs 9 1/2 ounces at his checkup yesterday, and is 26″ tall. This month, he started sleeping 10-11 hours at night most nights. He still has not figured out the bottle. Henry chews on his hands, his blanket, and anything else he can find, so we might see some bottom teeth soon. 
It doesn’t seem possible, but our little Henry is three months old. He has been smiling and cooing a lot this month, despite struggling with a sinus infection and a cold. Henry weighs over 17 pounds and is wearing 6-9 month clothing. He loves ceiling fans, Elsa’s rendition of “Good Morning” from Singing in the Rain, and staying up late with Mama. We love sweet baby Hank!
Henry turned two months old on April 9th and topped the growth charts at his checkup, weighing 15 lbs 9 oz, and measuring 24.75″ long. These photos really show his easy going personality. Henry puts up with a lot of “affection” from his big sister, naps well on the go in his baby wrap and has the most kissable cheeks. He has also started returning our smiles and sleeping longer at night (making his mama happy!).
