Gifts, All Year Long…..

This is traditionally the season of gift giving, but here at QBB we have the joy of receiving and gifting all year long.  Opening the surprise gifts of tops and quilts that arrive on my front porch is always exciting. But being able to then share our beautiful finished quilts with people in need is truly a wonderful feeling.

With much gratitude to our wonderful network of piecers and finishers here in the Southeast the following quilts were shared this fall with Comfort Cases.

And from Wendy H., our newest QBB Regional Coordinator in Virginia, came a few more destined for Comfort Cases.. First one pieced by Melinda G. and quilted by Maggie B. The two others pieced by Maggie H., quilted by Wendy H.

Last but not least, quite a few were delivered by our Regional Coordinator Janet F.:

Quilts for OCJ Kids

These quilts were sent from quilters in the Southeast to the OCJ Kids organization in Arizona for their Christmas celebration, they will be given to children in foster care and group homes to provide some cozy warmth and love to these kids who have experienced abuse and neglect.

And these quilts were sent from Janet F.’s team of volunteers:

Quilts for the Arizona Women’s Recovery Center

Quilts Beyond Borders recently provided 70 children’s  quilts to the Arizona Women’s Recovery Center based in Phoenix, Arizona. The center has several arms of outreach for recovery to addictions, including housing families who are trying to get back ‘on their feet’. The quilts will be distributed to children at their December family Christmas party.

Quilters from the Southwest region created the beautiful quilts in these two photos.  Many thanks to each of you who contributed.

Gold Canyon UMC Quilters , Dolly A., Friends of QBB, Joan & Stu, Chris B.

These quilts came from talented Southeast region quilters, you can click on each image to see it larger and see the maker’s names.

This last set came from Janet’s F.’s group of generous quilters:

We Will Miss You at the 2025 IQF in Houston

Dear Followers,

We regret to tell you that we will not be able to have a booth at the 2025 International Quilt Festival in Houston due to several key members having family health issues and schedule conflicts. If you picked up tops to quilt or kits to create tops at last year’s IQF, please contact us at [email protected] and we will send you the contact information for your nearest Regional Coordinator.

Also, one of our great Regional Coordinators, Deb Atchison, will be teaching an all-day course in Scrappy Applique at the IQF on Saturday. For information about her class and where to reach her, please check out the information on her class (611) at https://www.quilts.com/…/quilt-festival…/all-classes/ or check out her website at http://www.debatchison.com/quilting.html . Deb has told me that she will be able to collect quilts and tops brought to her. If you won’t be at the IQF on Saturday, Deb said she can be found at the Legit Kits booth on the other days.

Thanks for all that you have done for QBB over the years. We hope to see you at next year’s show.

Best wishes,

Carla Triemer, President

NEEDS Persist, and LOVE Responds

I’m sure we are all reading daily stories of lives upended, of people who are doing without, of people who have unmet needs beyond their control.  While we can’t reach everyone with our warm quilty hugs, we are proud that we’ve been able to share over 3000 quilts so far this year, both at home and abroad.

And we are SO GRATEFUL for our dedicated network of quilters who continue to pour their LOVE into their creations. One quilted hug at a time we continue to remind others that they are valued. Enjoy the photos below, and as always, you can click on each to see it larger and to see the maker’s names.

Thank you!

Ann D., Southeast Regional Coordinator for QBB

Recent FQC Winner

It is my pleasure to announce the winner of the Fat Quarter Challenge for 10/24 and 11/24. Emily L. was randomly selected as the winner for both months. I love the use of bright colors in her quilt. The brightness makes me smile and I know it will make the child who receives it smile, too. Remember to send your finished quilts to be entered in the monthly drawing for a $25 gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop and the annual prize of $100.
