Garden Update

It seems as though while we were gone our garden grew by leaps and bounds.

Our little row of tomato plants - when we got back, the leaves from half of one of the tomato plants had been eaten completely off. Any suggestions on what to do about that? We have no idea what kind of bug/insect did that.

We've got tomatoes- just not ripe enough yet.

Here is Jake's cabbage plant that he started from seed. There are two heads of cabbage on this plant and I have no idea what I am going to do with them or when they are even ready to be picked. If you have any ideas please send them my way.
Our strawberry plants are doing really good however, I don't think we are going to be getting too many strawberries this year. Maybe next year will be more prosperous.

Our Vacation

So we are finally back home after spending two wonderful weeks in Utah. I just wish the time didn't go by so fast. There was so much to do and so little time to do it in. We still didn't get everything accomplished that we wanted to. I thought I would share a few picture from our trip:
Jake and Alexis' big catch of the day:

Playing with our other dog that lives with Grandpa. Sadly enough we are probably going to have to put him down because he has arthritis so bad that he can hardly stand up.

What do you do when 4 kids are "bored" - Why you have them husk the corn for dinner:

Hanging out with nephew Bret:

Of course these are just a few of things we did. We also took the kids to Lagoon for the day - visited Grandma Wright who is 90 and got to see almost all the cousins.

What a trip !!!!!

Meet Kaden

This was the reason we came to Utah...... to welcome our first grandchild. Christina had him on Tuesday, July 8th at 7:51 a.m. - weighing in at 6 lbs 10 oz and 20 1/2" long. He has lots of black hair and has already won over our hearts. We are excited to welcome him into our family.

I'm sure you will be seeing more pictures of him as he grows. I just hope I don't over do it.

Road Trip

We headed to Utah for 2 weeks on the 4th of July. We thought we would share some of the sights that we saw along the way:

This was the sunrise at 7:00 a.m. when we were leaving our house.

10:00 a.m. - the price of gas in Farmington, NM

Shiprock, NM

Rock formation between Monticello and Moab

Tourist trap outside of Moab

1:00 p.m.- price of gas in Moab

4:30 - almost to Grandpa's - even the dog survived the trip.
We were so excited to get here- 10 hours is just too long to be in the truck. We haven't been to Utah since last summer. Once a year is just not enough.

New Mexico Winds

This is what can happen to a person's mailbox when the New Mexico winds decide to kick up:

ImageYes, this is our mailbox. Since we live in the middle of nowhere and have nothing blocking the winds here, they get pretty strong sometimes. The winds have gotten as high as 60 mph.
