Did you know that living close to McDonald's can actually affect your health? People who live close to grocery stores are less likely to eat fast food.
So, being in an area without grocery stores is literally called a food desert.
Everyone in Canada has a right to healthy food. We know eating healthy is more expensive, and with inflation it's getting harder to buy.
Another example is how close you are to greenspace. If you're around a lot of green things, it's good for your body and your mental health.
There's even a program in Canada where doctors like me prescribe touching grass. So, you can see that where you live can affect you a lot.
It's part of something called the social determinants of health, where outside influences like these have effects on your health.
