  • Pipestone “THE AREA IS SACRED because it’s the only place you can find the stone. When the Creator puts something like that in a specific place, you know there’s something sacred about that place and all the animals and plants in it.” -Alice Erickson (Dancing Flower),Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate

  • Memorial Day reflection. Tim Houlihan, my great grandfather, somewhere in a trench in France during World War One. Both sides of my family tree are full of war veterans going back to nearly every conflict since the revolutionary war. The ripple effects from the machines of war continue to inflict harm on the generations that follow. Every war is a war on the poor working class. Unless you are willing to send yourself and your children to the front lines, stop funding war.

  • This past weekend I brought a friend out for his first ice fishing excursion. He caught five bass and one bluegill! He also beat me in cribbage…twice. Everyone gets their lucky day from time to time. The sunshine was strong and the winds were calm. What a beautiful day!

  • Last night I pulled my broomball gear out of storage to play a doubleheader on my old team. The Broom Ninjas lost both, and we had a fun time doing so! What a great night on the ice.
