The Moroccan Identity Federation for Education and Research – eduIDM
The Moroccan Identity Federation for Education and Research – eduIDM is a service offered and operated by MARWAN, the Moroccan National Research and Education Network, which offers a technical and a trust framework by simplifying access to content, services and resources for the global research and education community. Consequently, with just one trusted identity, users can access a greater range of services managed and controlled by different administrative domains using just a single sign-on (SSO) and avoiding multiple credentials for a single End User.
Who can benefit from eduIDM service?
Our constituency is defined to be universities and institutions that are connected to MARWAN network or other academic organizations. Each institution can apply, at any time, for membership as:
- An Identity Provider: to manage the authentication of End Users and their digital identities data.
- A Service Provider: to provide resources and services in the eduIDM federation.
eduIDM’s purposes
Generally speaking, eduIDM offers the security enhancement and the facilitation of the authentication in on-premises as well as cloud applications. Listed below are the most common assets to being a member of eduIDM:
- Enable scalable and trusted collaborations within the research and education community;
- Enable an easy and a convenient access to End Users;
- Ensure lower administration costs and time saves;
- Enable a secure access to contents;
- Increase the privacy protection with fewer data spills;
- Enable the access to a wider range of services than are available locally or nationally through eduGAIN confederation.
