Linear models are reaching their limits—the textile industry needs circular solutions now. Our latest Industry Insight shows how this transformation works at TURNS , Looper Textile Co. and Schöffel Gruppe. Using real-world examples, it highlights how companies are:: 🔹building closed-loop fiber systems, 🔹implementing mono-material concepts, 🔹and creating transparency through digital take-back systems. Overproduction, short product lifecycles and rising waste volumes are putting the sector under growing pressure. In the EU alone, around seven million tons of textile waste were generated in 2022—yet only about 1% was recycled into new clothing. 🚀 From IFAT Startup to Global AI Player: Greyparrot Greyparrot’s journey with IFAT Munich is a great example of how early visibility can turn into long-term growth. The British AI company first joined IFAT Munich 2022 as part of the Startup Area, focused on one thing: getting their technology in front of the right people. By IFAT Munich 2024, Greyparrot returned as a main exhibitor, using the platform to deepen relationships with customers and partners. Today, Greyparrot’s impact speaks for itself: - Active in 60+ facilities across 20 countries. - In 2024, its AI systems identified over 40 billion waste objects. - Enabled the recovery of 125,000 additional tons of material. In 2025, launched AnalyzerWave (AI + NIR detection) and Deepnest for data-driven, profitable packaging design. What Germans think about circularity Circularity matters and Germany is already thinking about it. To better understand public perception, IFAT Munich commissioned a new YouGov survey, which was presented to an exclusive audience at the SZ Wirtschaftsgipfel (Economic Summit). The results confirm what we suspected: 73 % of Germans recognize circularity as essential for national (raw material) security. Even though 84 % feel poorly informed about the circular economy, the population instinctively understands that sustainable resource management reduces dependency and strengthens resilience. With Germany importing 90 % of its raw materials, circular solutions reduce dependency, strengthen resilience, and support secure supply chains. Business leaders are aligned: 85 % expect sustainability efforts to remain steady or grow. This survey underscores why we must continue this conversation at IFAT Munich 2026, connecting industries, driving innovation, and shaping a resilient future.
