  • 2025, in one breath. This year at Netdata, we didn’t just add features, we sharpened how teams see, understand, and act on their systems. Here’s what took shape across Netdata this year: • AI that actually investigates From anomaly detection to guided root-cause analysis, observability became conversational, contextual, and actionable, not just visual. • More signal, less noise Smarter handling of high-cardinality metrics, ephemeral nodes, and dynamic environments. Scale stopped being the enemy of clarity. • Observability beyond charts Annotations, exports, reports, logs, and correlations turned raw data into stories you can share, audit, and automate. • Enterprise-ready by design Stronger security posture, compliance milestones, and integrations that fit real operational workflows, not demos. • Still real-time. Still local. Still fast Per-second data, stored locally, no sampling shortcuts. Because speed and trust never went out of style. TL;DR: In 2025, Netdata moved observability from watching systems to working with them. Onward. 🚀

  • There’s a big difference between adding a chat interface and earning one. Real-time conversations only work when the underlying system can reason, correlate, and surface evidence, not just words. This is the hard path. And the right one. See how Real-Time Conversations work: https://lnkd.in/dkEGdmSW

There's a lazy pattern in product development right now: take your existing product, bolt a chat interface on top, call it "AI-powered." We've been deliberate about not doing that at Netdata. When we started building Netdata AI, we began with the hard stuff first: automated root cause analysis, deep-dive investigations that correlate metrics across your entire infrastructure, intelligent alert suggestion and creation. The analytical substrate had to exist before a conversational interface would be anything more than a parlor trick. Today we're releasing Real-Time Conversations, and it's so much more than just a chatbot. Netdata AI responds with more than just text. It generates real-time charts, tables, and log snippets directly in the conversation. The evidence appears inline, as you're forming hypotheses. No context switching. No hunting through dashboards. In practice, this means you can go from "why is this endpoint slow?" to a correlated view of latency spikes, pod CPU usage, and the relevant error logs, all within a single, continuous dialogue that takes 5 minutes tops. Building AI that actually does things (rather than just talks about things) is genuinely hard engineering work and a huge shout out to Juan C. and John Kapantzakis who just keep on shipping high quality features. It's almost the end of the year, but we are speeding up instead of slowing down :) Full writeup on how it works and when to use it vs. our deeper Investigation reports in the comments.

  • Real-time observability isn’t about collecting more data. It’s about seeing what matters, exactly when it matters. This is the direction we’re building toward at Netdata: Clarity at machine speed, without the complexity tax. Fewer blind spots. Better decisions. See how Netdata AI suggests and creates the right alerts for your specific use-case and environment: https://lnkd.in/dBknGHcp

Alerting in observability has a weird bottleneck: the person who knows what should trigger an alert often isn't the person who knows the syntax to write it. So the config burden ends up with one or two people on the team. Everyone else just... waits. We just shipped something at Netdata that fixes this. You describe what you want in plain English, and our AI generates a production-ready alert. It can also explain existing alerts line-by-line or suggest what alerts would be ideal for specific metrics, charts or services. It sounds simple but it's been one of our most requested features for years. Great work by João Cardoso and John Kapantzakis who built this. (Blog link in comments if you want to see how it works under the hood.)

  • 💡 Big news: Netdata has earned SOC 2 Type 2 attestation! After a rigorous five-month audit by Sensiba LLP (covering April 1- August 31, 2025), we’ve proven that our security controls work over time. Read  the full story here:  SOC 2 Type 2 Netdata’s Security Controls Validated Over Time  🔗 https://lnkd.in/dZq664HD Why this matters: Beyond design to practice: SOC 2 Type 1 proves controls are designed correctly at a point in time; Type 2 shows they’re operating reliably over months. Comprehensive audit scope: Our controls were tested across security, availability, confidentiality, access management, change management, incident response, vulnerability handling, logging, backups, etc. Trust you can audit: For organizations in regulated or security-sensitive sectors, this attestation becomes a decision-making point. Ongoing commitment: We’ll renew annually, adapt controls, and keep strengthening our posture.
