SENATE APPROVES NIA’S P45.07-BILLION BUDGET FOR 2026

The Senate approved the P45.07-billion Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Budget of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) under the National Expenditure Program (NEP) during the plenary deliberations on November 26, 2025 at the Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City.

The budget was successfully defended and sponsored by Senator Kiko Pangilinan, together with NIA Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, underscoring the Administration’s crucial role in strengthening the country’s food security, improving and expanding irrigation services, and empowering Filipino farmers.

NIA RECEIVES “EXCELLENT” RATING ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE SCORECARD

NIA Central Office – Under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has received an “Excellent” rating on the Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) based on the assessment of the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG) for Calendar Year (CY) 2024.

For the first time since 2015, NIA earned this notable recognition. With a numerical rating of 89.58% (Excellent) in 2024, a 13.87% increase was recorded from 75.71% (Above Average) CGS rating in 2023. This serves as a testament to the Agency’s commitment towards a more transparent and more accountable public service.

GCG launches the Leadership Award for outstanding GOCC Board Members; seeks public feedback on nominees

In a move to further elevate corporate governance, the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) has introduced a new category under its annual GCG Awards ceremony ­­­­­­─ the Leadership Award.

The award is designed to give tribute to outstanding Appointive Members of GOCC Governing Boards who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, strategic vision, and governance excellence in their role; as well as, whose exemplary performance, significant contributions and remarkable accomplishments in public corporate sector have resulted in improvement and enhanced development in the GOCC, its stakeholders and communities.

PBBM INAUGURATES UNION DAM IN CLAVERIA, CAGAYAN

Dizon, and local government officials, this milestone project is a testament to the government’s commitment to water management, irrigation development, and sustainable infrastructure for rural communities.

PBBM INAUGURATES P813-MILLION CALUNASAN SRIP IN BOHOL

NIA Region VII – President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen led the inauguration of the P813-million Calunasan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) in Calape, Bohol on September 5, 2025.

With water source from the Calunasan Creek, the project covers 300 hectares of agricultural land in the barangays of Calunasan, Abucayan Sur, Lucog, and Bentig, benefitting 400 farmers and their families. It is expected to boost agricultural productivity, improve the lives of the farmers, and strengthen food security in the region.

Nakasaad sa liham ni PCW Chairperson Ermelita V. Valdeavilla kay NIA Board of Directors Chairperson Undersecretary Jeffrey G. Gallardo noong Agosto 29, 2025 na ang NIA ay kabilang sa Top 10 ng 6 out of 14 categories ng 2024 GAD Budget Assessment Report.
